They can be modified, and some guns are way easier than other to modify into full auto. AR-15s are easy IF (and thats a big if) you can find the parts. AKs aren’t that hard with a bit of machining experience, but it makes the gun painfully unreliable. And the whole point of having an AK is the reliability.
Also, a semi-auto is way easier to handle. Recoil makes handling a full auto gun a chore in a situation where you are shooting without any object to stabilize the gun.
I don’t believe that is true. According to my lazy wikipedia research, the United States is the only country in the world with more guns than people (112.6 guns per 100 people). Canada sits 12th in the world at 30.8. I don’t profess to have any answers to the larger question, but let’s at least start with some semblance of truth when quoting statistics.
Most of USA’s Gun Violence Issues are within “Gun FREE Zones”.
You could guess why… Criminals/Terrorists will get guns or other weapons of choice regardless of the laws. The laws only limit law abiding people from accessing them. When only the criminals/police are the ones carrying guns, how do the citizens protect themselves when someone breaks in your house, threatens your life and possibly even your kids lives?
USA Should be training and giving a weapon to each and every citizen. If every person was trained and allowed to carry a weapon 100% of the time. Would you think this terrorist would actually go into a building where they know 400 guns are likely to be pointed back at them? Well possibly if they are a terrorist, because they are on some screwed up mission to kill people and don’t care if they get killed in return. Some believe being killed in “duty” is a benefit to their families and their chances of going to heaven.
Problem isn’t guns, problem is lack of others carrying guns.
History has proven and repeated itself, when a government disarms all the citizens, the government is soon to collapse.
The people of a country should be willing to go to war AT ANY TIME for their LIBERTIES. This includes on home turf and/or abroad. If the citizens of a country are unprepared/refuse to defend themselves, you know where this is going. NEVER Put 100% trust into ANY government. The people of a country need to keep their own Governments in Check.
In my experience people who depend on the government to do everything for them, even decision making…are weak people that are still around because we have interfered way to much with natural selection.
About terrorism:
Terrorists will always find a way to kill other people. This killer could have used a home-made bomb and people could have a gun or not, it would not change anything…
About gun laws:
How many people are shooted because the weapon was easily obtained versus how many people are saved because one civilian/citizen shoots the killer?
I like how every “prevented crime” by shooting the criminal is made out to be some sort of assassination attempt or something like that.
How full of yourself do you have to be to assume every criminal that breaks in one’s home does that to kill you?
The very vast majority of such “prevented crimes” start out as burglaries that escalate because some righteous asshole sees it appropriate to pull his gun and shoot someone over a shitty TV his insurance would cover anyways.
Please elaborate. I know of many countries with very strict gun laws that do fine, better than the US currently in many aspects some would argue. So how has history proven any of what you so boldly state?
Sure it is your right to defend your property, that wasn’t what i tried to say.
Just stop arguing as if your cited “prevented crimes” by shooting a criminal is saving any lives cause the vast majority of these cases it doesn’t.
The problem is that you think you have a right to tell others what is right and wrong. You are trying to control other peoples life and rights. As soon as you do that you give up any right to make you own decisions.
Someone owning and carrying a gun affects you in no way what so ever. Just like someone being gay affects you in no way what so ever.
Perhaps you do not notice but you have been passively attacking people who do not agree with your ideology. That is wrong.
If you do not like guns, good on you I am happy for you and your view. But as soon as you think YOU know what is right or wrong for another individual, we have a problem.
I will tell ya straight up, PC is bullshit created to appease the retarded masses.
I repect peoples choices if they repect other peoples views.
I will not bow down or repect passive aggressive BS from lessor humans. If you are straight honest with your ideas and views, I have nothing but mad respect.
Stupid people breed way faster than intelligent ones and unfortunately the smart ones tend to guard their comments. No longer…
Are you serious with that? Someone carrying a deadly weapon doesn’t affect me in any way? Well, until he shoots me or anyone i care about, that is.
Carrying a deadly weapon with you is no personal right, yes it is in your constitution, that is because it was written in a time when loading and shooting a gun just once took a freaking minute, and hitting with it was a numbers game.
What your problem is you think that the majority of gun owners are reasonable responsible people, but only some actually are, that is why many of them own a gun in the first place because they make stupid decisions bringing them in situations where owning a gun seems like a good idea.
As for your second post i will just assume you are drunk right now and didn’t actually mean to insult me as a lesser human. I would like to add though that i agree about political correctness being stupid and people should not ne sheltered from opinions. You can still be somewhat polite though, no PC in that, also using a deadly weapon has nothing to do with PC.
I was raised with guns. I know I am responsible with them to, they are locked up away from kids/ammunition is separated and very sure under any circumstance I would not aim/point or shoot anyone.
so do I want my guns taken from me, no
but reading all the posts here I have to say both sides have made some very valid points for and against.
maybe if cops would/could do there job in the US people would feel less a need for them, atleast the ones owning for protection. but sadly this is not the case. cops do not protect they may arrest after your dead.
Lesser humans is a fact, you even confirm that with your own statements. There are several gun owners that have no business owning guns at all, I agree 100%. But that is not an excuse to prevent others from owning just because it is convenient.
I like you Gouki because you listen and respond, that is a rare thing in this day and age. I have no ill will towards you, but in a disagreement we will take things as we will. There really is no pleasant way to disagree.
I carry 24/7 and no one ever notices, it affects them in no way what so ever. Now if someone threatens them or intends them harm…I will lay down my life to defend them and their family. That is the right thing to do. Even you who dislikes guns…if you and your family were in danger I would gladly do everything in my power to protect you, even if it cost me my life. That is humanity.
as you said above @Grimmorith though and I will correct myself some, if someone breaks into my home and with my family here I will shoot if I feel threatened plain and simple, and I will not even think twice about it
If that is the case then you should not be worried at all about registration and a psychic evaluation of your ability to responsibly own a gun. That is the whole point of strict gun laws, not to take them away from anyone just because, but to regulate their ownership to decrease the danger that comes with unstable individuals having free access to these deadly weapons.
