Good morning everyone, you’ve gotten me freshly out of bed before I head into the office.

Unfortunately after our server migrations we have been experiencing unexpected issues, which I’m sure you are all aware of. We’ve had bugs that hot fixes have had to be pushed out for which then impacted other things unexpectedly. Right now everything is a game of catch up, and of course it being Monday didn’t help because of the higher load and weekly roll over.

As you can all see @Sirrian was up until all hours of the night trying to fix the problem again, as he is most nights of the week right now. I can assure you that the server issues are being actively worked on as we speak. Getting the servers running smoothly is our top priority at the moment, however we also want to ensure we are delivering weekly content so you don’t miss out.

As I said, I’ll be heading into the office soon. Once I get there I’ll find out as much as I can and pass it on.

BTW, now that you don’t have a video today, what am i suppose to watch when i work out now!

Yeah… i think i lost 20 event keys just now. Gonna check with support later about that, but keep waiting until the issues get sorted out.

Hi @Saltypatra, two things:

  1. I think I speak for most players when I say we don’t care that much about weekly content when we have so much game downtime and unfixed bugs. I think most of us would be happy with a few weeks of no new content in exchange for a better player experience.

  2. While I appreciate that Sirrian stays up late working on issues if we don’t have any feedback from the devs, we’re left in the dark and many of us feel like we’re being ignored because, well, we are. Granted getting the game working again is the top priority but not hearing anything from the devs for 6+ hours on the busiest game day of the week is maddening. Are there any plans to address this going forward so that we get more frequent updates when game-breaking issues like this arise (even if it’s just an hourly update of “Still working on fixing the issue.” in its own stickied post)?

Thanks, @Saltypatra; I want to love GoW again but these constant game-breaking issues are making that impossible.

This. Fixing gets harder the more new stuff you add. Make it stable, THEN add more.

In case anybody cares, my phone alt has been able to login and play just fine on Android. I, on the other hand, have yet to login successfully all day via Steam. It’s anyone’s guess what my guild is thinking of me…

What good is a game that is unplayable even though has a billion things in it?

I’d rather play a stable game that works when its a good time for me to play vs waiting around wasting my time hoping the game will work when I have time.

I’m with @eika. New content isn’t really making bugs worse. And this stuff is all server load / migration stuff anyway. Could argue that new stuff distracts devs from fixing - but it’s typically different resource anyway…

I could argue that new skills/traits/etc increases load on a database, and we seem to be having database issues

There’s no reason they have to release the new content they create during that time though. By all means stop releasing the new content while fixing the player experience but keep creating the new content. Then, once most of the issues are resolved, release content on an accelerated schedule until you catch back up. It’s a win/win.

Server architecture and app development are two very different things, often without overlap in personnel.

Just like Players and Developers are two very different things. Often never overlap as well.

But trying to do 1 without the other, you will end up in a mess like this.

Unstable product will reduce your playerbase, so I think Communication between Server Architecture and Development are a MUST. Any excuse why they wouldn’t talk would lead to a jobless person in many organizations.

I’m unsure if they Monitor usage, hardware usage, bandwidth or if they stress test with AI to try to determine problem areas or even the max amount the hardware supports. I do know that this is a normal occurrence and each time this happens its most likely deterring more players from either playing more or recommending this game to friends.

I do like GoW and the Developers, I just feel they are too Lackadaisical with these issues.

I´ve been having the same issue, after a battle I get the server error message, at least when I reset it gives my the rewards, but the worst was last night, when the event started, I used two event keys to get two Incubus and then bought 4 more with glory to ascend it, but when I got to the troops screen I only had 3 Incubus wth, I bought 3 more and when I check my total was 5 so I had to buy yet another one to have the six needed to ascend. So I ended up buying 8 incubus plus the 2 from the keys, that was lame.

I just lost a bunch of rewards in the sever issues as well, including a few battles (before I thought to check the forums) and a 103 turn treasure hunt (when I thought it would surely be fixed). I should have listened to th e board. Why cant they reset different things on different days of the week to keep from crashing every Monday?

Sigh. I see we’re at our weekly gathering. Well there goes 50 keys down the hole. Yes everything seemed fine until I clicked buy those puppies.
Devs I’d be happy if you would just say “Folks we’re trying a lot of things to fix this mountain of issues. But basically we are all are effed for about a month. But we’ll get there!”
Also please note pizza and pop does not qualify as brain food! Eat well, take breaks, and know despite how it sounds we are rooting for ya!
