POLL: How do you feel about the Valkyrie changes?

You are just jealous about my feelings and thats a sin. :smirk:

Nah, I gave up psychedelics a long time ago. My kids still think I’m certifiably insane so I guess it didn’t too much good, though. :innocent:

I meant you liked my post, not the poll. I don’t care how that ends up.

Ah, no worries.

And yes, I did like your post. I don’t see this discussion as completely binary. There’s meritorious arguments coming from every direction… :+1:

Meh, Valk was good while it lasted. Over powered and over used yes.

I like the change. Balancing Cards/Troops/whatever in terms of making the decision between them more narrow makes the game more interesting. It adds variety to the game.

I’ll give you two examples:

  1. every card does some average damage and you get 10 souls per kill. This way, whatever you take into your deck, does not matter that much. Typically, such sets result in “mass over skill”, i.e. the person with the most expensive cards/troops/ships wins.

  2. every card/troop has a unique ability, with up- and downsides. This way, you can tune your fleet/deck to whatever your needs are, but you are guaranteed to take a hit on something. You want souls? Here you go - but you won’t be doing much damage. You want high damage? No problem dude, but you won’t be getting that many souls.

All in all, I think a strong card does not even need side benefits. Valkyrie is strong even without souls consideration: you generate blue mana for cost of 10, and you even can emphasize it by water link. This is pretty much unparallelled as fuel for whatever card you need. Getting some souls per cast is adding some cream to it. Having Necromancy on top was already strong (but limited by cap), and with the change in Necromancy, this card would have become a must for every deck. The whole game would focus then on this card only - and the graph shown by @Nimhain only confirms this consideration.

None of this matters as long as the strongest Troops are continually released with Blue as a Mana color. Players are still going to overuse Valkyrie.

Also…

Honestly, people complained about “being forced to use Valkyrie” and her “being the only option for Souls” for so long, the Devs solved those two issues.

Technically, they did what everyone asked for.

i have over 80k of souls in my deck, but i was also playing my 2 kids accounts while they were at school - they had no where near enough souls. so here is my point of view…

Valkyrie: makes souls AND changes any color to blue
Banshee: makes souls AND changes blue to red AND does damage
Avina: makes souls AND damage AND extra damage to undead
Dragon Soul: makes souls AND destroys 3 columns of stuff AND does damage to ALL
Wight: makes souls AND steals life AND makes a few purple…

so really - shes fairly low cost soul maker… but her true power lies in the color transform. Which is why i used her - on all the accounts i was running. Not the souls.

its like getting a corner piece of a white cake with frosting and complaining because you didn’t get a rose.

Yeah, but the issue lies within Sirrian saying this happened because of how much she gets used. She’s the fastest blue mana generator in the game, which is why imo she was used as much. I haven’t changed my main team a bit. The chart says she’s used, but it doesn’t break down if that’s because of souls or because she’s a great mana generator. Also, as it’s been pointed out that the best/most used troops in the game right now all require blue mana. It’s a no-brainer. We all knew something was going to happen to her, but some of us don’t like how it was handled or the timing.

It’s like beating a dead horse, but logic dictates this was handled semi-poorly. I even agree with everyone saying the souls are about the same, but the teams most people have to make now are messed up. It’s like we’re being locked in worse than before WITH Valkyrie.
