They never said the purpose of the 24 hour event was cosmetic pets. The only thing Sirrian said specifically about the 24 hour event is that they would “usually” introduce new pets through them.

I’m not sure why some people are having such a hard time understanding this simple point. I haven’t seen anyone “complaining about free stuff”. They just feel that “any” pet other than bunny (the one everyone already had) should have been in the event,
Like Venus, I was fortunate to be in an active guild, so I have almost all the pets. So, it is no skin off my nose personally. But, I do feel bad for people that only have a couple of pets.

I agree with almost everyone here, having the pet that was given out to all player by mail after 3.4 update hit is really a weird choice of pets for the 24h event…
Having lucky again would have still been a slap in the face too.
That 24h event should be reserve for a pet that not everyone has, period.

That’s kinda my whole point. Speaking as someone who only has a few pets so far, I both 1) didn’t expect today to be a new pet specifically, because why would I? and 2) feel like getting dupes that go towards making a bonus better is just as good - or even, arguably, better, but that’s a different debate - than getting a new pet with a bonus starting from scratch.
I’m not “getting multiple pets daily”; I just really-for-real do not get the complaints. A lot of this thread comes across to me as hugely entitled attitudes complaining about getting a free thing that wasn’t the free thing they expected, and…I don’t have any sympathy towards that attitude.

We made a small mistake and accidentally set the pet event to be the same pet as the give away. While many of you enjoyed having extra bunnies to help ascend it, we’re giving you all a free bonus pet (not lucky) to make up for it!
Just…how? Have you read the bonus the bunny gives? Arguably one of the weakest pet bonuses in the game due to the dr of masteries in the game this is quite literally nothing regardless of the pets rarity.
Even if you argued all pet bonuses are small, this one is so meaningless it stands out.
In any case having this “catch-up” mechanic for players with fewer pets give a pet even they already have by default this shortly in the pets runtime is both boring and dissapointing.

It reveals something real 
about the community in general:
We all know that GoW, being an F2P game, has a big chunk of “you get back what you put in”. If you’re in a competitive guild you get a ton of resources. Those guilds do a lot of PvP, which means they find more pets. The game wouldn’t really be exciting if people who played more didn’t get more.
The problem is when those players view the ones who don’t as lazy or, worse, undeserving of any in-game reward.
Those players are people too, and no one advocates for them because they don’t play enough to care enough to come to the forums and advocate for themselves. So it’s easy and fun to beat up on them. Screw those guys who don’t even make 100 trophies in a week, if they wanted pets they’d play more! They don’t deserve to see more pets.
Meanwhile half the active players have complained pets don’t appear frequently enough, which is something that’d dramatically help the lower-end players too! Nothing about gamers ever makes sense.
Good question: how much should a person be playing to “deserve” a new pet? If I said you can’t @ me if you aren’t reaching 500 trophies and at least 800k gold weekly, how would you feel? I think those are very easy requirements to meet.

Meh. In this very thread, there are several people in highly productive guilds that stated that this bunny event was unfair to people in low activity guilds because they only have a few pets. If you are in a highly active guild and have 30 pets, this event really didn’t matter because the chances were already high that you’d get a duplicate. So, there are people in this community that speak up about things they find unfair in general that doesn’t affect them.
So, I don’t see it as a “community” issue. There are a handful of self-entitled GoW posters that fit your description. However, they surely don’t represent the GoW community in general.

Honestly, I doubt that’s the case. I mean, I would find it very strange if the devs who run a game for thousands of players would decide on a gift to all of those people just for one player who writes on their forum and who doesn’t even play much anymore. Sure, I wrote some summaries and stuff, but I haven’t been in the stream forever and post way less (and if I post something, it’s usually a bunch of bunny-stuff for fun). I have no idea what the motivation to pick the bunny was, but I really doubt it was me.
I bet it was simply because bunnies are the best animals and everyone should own a bunny.
No, but all jokes aside: I dunno how I would feel if the bunny would have been picked just because of me. I mean, on one hand, I would feel super-special and honored, but on the other hand also uncomfortable because I have done absolutely nothing that should cause the devs to treat me super-special and honoring, given the amount of players they have.
If all my bunny-pictures of course made them like bunnies more and they settled on the bunny because of that, though, that would be a different matter. Then I could pat myself on the shoulder for a job well done.
As for the rest of the discussion… I’ll stay out of that, I think I made my point clear already and said enough about the community lately anyway in the Dawnbringer-fix-topic.

I can get what everyone that wanted a different pet today is saying, but I’m actually okay with the Bunny being active today.
Its only 24 hours, I’m taking the day off. Its a bit too soon to have the 24 hr pet be the Snow Bunny, but if it means we’re not going to see it again as a 24 hr pet any time soon (ever, maybe?), then I’m okay with that.
Now if this lasted a week though… I’d have to find a shiny pitchfork as well.
…If that’s true, I wish I knew how so that I could brainwash the rest of the world as well. 
Maybe it’s some sort of hypnosis from the bunny-noses? Let’s test…

The devs had one of their “Awww Ryan” meetings. Saw how much I was enjoying the pet feature. And congregated a way to spoil the fun for me.
Like many have addressed already. I knew I was going to get a repeat troop today. I’m simply irritated cause no one on the dev team stopped this bad idea from happening. The lack of QA is just astounding to me. They say they listen to the community. And I believe that to be true. But I don’t think they actually learn from our feedback to avoid mistakes such as this.
A week ago…I was shocked that they gave a pet away in mail. I thought wow… That was really cool and nice of them. Now today that memory is tarnished by this event.
Made even worse… By… Every time I start the game today… I’m reminded of it. So that causes me to want to play less today than any day since 3.4 was released. Here’s to tomorrow being a better day.

Though, you know, have you ever had to read the novel “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” in school? It’s a story where at the end, the protagonist gets eaten by a bunch of people because he put on a perfume that made him so irresistable they just wanted to be as close to him and like him as possible. Maybe it’s like that with humans and bunnies as well - everyone secretly wants to be a bunny, so some people eat bunnies to become “more bunny”.
Doesn’t change the fact that that’s horrible, though!

You should be able to read sarcasm better. 
When writing it… For a second…I was concerned someone would take it seriously. But then I decided that if you lack the ability to read sarcasm. This would be a beneficial lesson for them.
