A New Mythic Approaches - Famine

Yep that’s the one!

Tried Psion in there - but reduced Famines damage. So plugged in the alphabet demon. As I normally leave abhorath charged until needed for healing or to clear dodgy board, so wasn’t too concerned about colour overlap.

I pulled one from Glory chests. Only had 36 keys too.

I must have some of the worst luck with these Mythics. Between last and this week, I’ve spent far more real $ than I should admit, and nothing. I’ve went through several motherload stacks of gems, and nothing… and I’ve used well into 3000 glory keys now, and nothing. So… less than pleased so far, and a bit bummed by the results. It seems with the amount of opened, it should drop no matter what at this point!

Silver lining, I don’t need anything but the two mythics now

Probably the drop rate was deliberately tuned down for the event and you are good proof it is working. Next time I’ll wait for an event-free period before dumping my key stockpile.

(drop rate of legends is hardly high and I pulled over 40 still not having the mythic, can’t recall another game with that kind of ratio)

So far turned down that other people got Famine from the first 50 chests they opened?

@Tactica it is just luck and bad RNG. I didn’t get Sheggra for almost a year and I was level 550 when I did. Sucks but we have all been there.

This. I got one with 36 Glory Keys.

100 Event Keys and I can’t grab a Maw. Go figure.

@Mufasha,

Yeah, agreed RNG is an angry sometimes. Anyway, I’ve often wondered (in the past) if there was a ghost in the system to give you what you are needing, when your lottery chance comes up. It seems at times in the past that I needed a whatever and it was one of the few remaining cards needed, open enough it’s within one or two of the next legendaries that drop.

At this point, I’m fairly certain there is no sympathy mechanic at play!!! Or if there is, it’s pretty slim on the influence. It probably doesn’t increase your chances of a drop, but it may be in place to improve your odds when you RNG a drop to have a higher chance to drop something you don’t have yet… that I could imagine.

Of course, new mythic’s lack of appearance isn’t the only bad luck I’ve had. The last two Legendary’s to show up finally - after a very long drought, was Carnex and Infernal King… I was beginning to think they were removed from drop pool.

I wanted both and was trying odd stuff to see if I could get them to trigger even… I went and beat the cities where each were found in, leveled them both to 10 in same week, put some souls and traits into random stuff from each city… and like a charm, the next weekend they dropped… did I influence it? I doubt it… I just played more that week, so it seemed like they showed up quicker more than likely.

Imps have been a cake walk for me though… Didn’t try, didn’t care and now have 4, with autumn Mythic.

Anyway, I’ve stopped investing any real $ into gems. Guild and drops will lead me too it, or they won’t. I’ve hit the point where it’s not worth it… and I found that point.

Like the game a lot, but that’s just a bit too random / rare for my liking to pursue it actively.

I spent 675 gems on event chests to drop a Maw. 100 glory keys later and I get another. So it goes.

That said, the Mythic drop rate is really low. I don’t think it’s as bad as the rarest troops in other similar games, and I think the Legendary drop rates were overly generous, but it’s painful nonetheless.

We have not changed the drop rates.

my kid opened no gem keys… only the teams glory keys the week war came out (so about 300 or so) and pulled him and bat and something else i didnt get until level 900 or so and had used over 100 event keys on

Surprising. Especially looking at the chat room it looked like the drop rate seemed a little higher than average to start with as if you were helping people to get it…

I don’t think they tinker with drop rates like that. I think most games have a steady drop rate then introduce more rare items (like Mythics) and/or limited time offers that give you a better drop rate on specific items (like the Event Chest).

I’m honestly surprised they removed War from the chest for the first week. Definitely not something most devs would do.

The fact that I got Famine for 50 glory keys makes up for the fact that I was over level 900 before I got Keeper of Souls. It all works out in the end.

I finally got a legendary from an event chest… Think I’d gone 90 event chests without a legendary but I tried for Maw & got 2 in a pack of 50.

It’s hard to avoid magical thinking because we’re programmed to look for patterns, but random is random & can be really cruel (which is why I’ve argued that they shouldn’t be entirely random.)

But random is how they make the monies…

Comes to mind, other games usually specify the chances and drop rates for stuff people buy – equivalent to chests in GoW. That way everyone at least knows what to expect before going in. Why do you keep them secret?

Are they secret? I figured they’d be in plaintext in the Steam files somewhere, and it’s just that nobody has asked for them.

The other games have an info button near the one you use to purchase the chest. So one could read i.e ‘1:7000 for a mythic’ at glory key or whatever the rate is.

Rates are not present in the persistent game data. They might be a runtime payload, but more than likely they’re not sent to the client at all (since it’s a server-side decision).

I’ve literally never seen a mobile game that tells you the drop rates. Pretty sure I’ve played every non-casino game on the top 200. The closest I’ve seen is the same thing as in Gems where they tell you 2x or 10x or whatever.
