3.2 Feedback and Suggestions

For me, is not kneejerk to ask for rolling back UI. It is headaches. I am getting them from playing. My play time has been cut down hugely, because of the throbbing that is coming behind my eyes, usually after I only have a chance to do Guild Wars.

And I am not even ask them to do permanently. Just put back the old UI until they have new one that is actually ready. What they have, I can’t think ANYONE believe that is ready. It is messy, and, in case anyone didn’t see, giving players headaches. Why should we put up with a headache, a literal one, while they are experimenting and messing around? I don’t see a good reason for this.

Haha, exactly this. I wanted to buy the Deathknight Armor in November, instead I now got a new vacuum cleaner… well, not the most thrilling thing, but still something that will now get more use than the Deathknight Armor would… and I usually played around 4 hours a day prior to the UI upgrade while vacuuming maybe for 30 minutes a week. Says loads about how much I play now, huh.

All non-existing aesthetics in the game aside, it’s also far healthier to vaccum than to play the game now. I’m pretty horrified that the devs haven’t been giving any feedback on how and when the UI will continue to get updated, especially since still so many people are complaining about eyestrain, headaches and nausea (equalling a still-transparent board and color problems, the flashing button and the sidescrolling, basically). I think a lot of players who are still considering if they want to quit or not would love to hear something from the devs, especially since they do post other things on the forums and are therefore active.

I think it would also be in the interest of the devs. People won’t wait forever. They’ll be willing to go through waiting times when patches are announced but need to get approved by Steam and so on. But not knowing if anything will change at all is not good for keeping players waiting. Patience runs out and the more players start playing new games in their free time now - as people say above - the less likely they will return to their former GoW schedule once they moved on for good. Even if they keep playing: If GoW is not their main game anymore, they will not spend money here. Which means losses for the devs. More communication would benefit everyone, both devs and players.

Yes this please. The first thing I noticed about the new UI which immediately made me hate it, was that now only a third of the map screen is not darkened on my phone. That’s like one or two kingdom at a time! I am guessing that’s the fault of the chat icon. Move it to the side where it always was and have some consistency about where it appears too because it’s all over the place.

When playin on mobile NONE of the gems in soul forge show I can’t see what I need to be able to craft things

With 684 feedback suggestions, it feels like one more will just get lost in the pile, but for what it’s worth, I’ll throw another stick on.

I note that you can no longer see a kingdom’s progress to the next level in the homescreen. Frustrating.

Just shows how much of a hash they made of everything.

I only started playing this game during the last summer when my brother (playing for about two years) showed it to me and I instantly liked it. I played it for several months (to make sure my first impression was correct) before considering to spend any actual money on it but then…the latest update totally killed it;
Seeing the amount of souls on the home screen and color option in the troops filter are the only good option in the latest edition. Everything else…just sucks big time (I can’t think of a better word. Sorry.) New icons are rubbish, transparent or semi-transparent backgrounds are rubbish (who invented that checker-board background for treasure hunt games?), toilet signs for dead troops are rubbish, buttons are rubbish, new cards visuals are rubbish, new kingdom map is rubbish, traitstones design is utter rubbish, constant sidescrolling is even worse than rubbish…town menus, stats readability, info that was visible before is now hidden under little blue question marks…did I miss anything? Oh yeah! Random factor is now heavily based in favor of AI: before those kraken/troll/mab teams were just a minor annoyance but now I notice that my win ration against them has gone down a lot;
I don’t see, unfortunately, how any decently sane person could like what’s going on in the game. Sorry, devs, you won’t be getting any of my money in a foreseeable future and I’m happy I didn’t invest any yet because it would’ve been just pure waste (and I’m not that rich to just throw bills in the gutter).

Absolutely bang on the money.
I also fail to see how anyone could think or say publicly, that this is an improvement. It’s a disgusting, poorly thought out, ill-designed clusterfuck.
Those traitstones used to be beautiful, now they’re just ugly and a total non entity, much like the whole of the game.
I still play every day but it’s just making me more angry and I’ll never ever get used to it. If they change stuff and I like it then I’ll be the first to say so. However this, this is just bad.

I like to think the new traitstones, and especially the Celestial, are unicorn poop.

It’s the one area where the UI now feels more fantasy!

The Arcane traitstones look horrendous. I don’t have any suggestions on how to make them look better other than going back to the original design.

Arcane Skull in particular looks pink and orange. Sure, I know what it should be. But remember, I’m no longer the target audience, I’ve spent my cash.

The new audience, the new players with bulging wallets bless them are going to be slightly confused when they can’t find any pink or orange troops but have all these stones to trait them.

Thanks to years of drinking and weed, I no longer remember what the game used to look like.
I kinda like what I see, but it could use a few more tweaks and a few more bigger changes. Font, color, opacity, size, etc just need little tweaks, lots and lots lol

I would have figured unicorn poop would be gray, given that they absorb all the colors (and the attendant child-like wonder and magic at all things polychrome) at digestion time.

Regarding pink and orange Traitstones, maybe they’re for traiting Zunes?

No unicorn poop is definitely rainbow colored and their pee is glitter.

When they throw up… Balloons! (Or is that clowns?)

The sad thing is it’s actually only about 10 unique suggestions about problems everyone is experiencing. There’s so little dev feedback they just keep getting posted just in case the devs also decide to see “images not loading” or “the text is invisible” as important.

Entangled interacts poorly with +Attack effects.

My hero’s using Runic Blade and has 14 attack. I got entangled. While entangled, I used Runic Blade and killed a troop. When I am not entangled, I should have 24 attack.

Instead I get 10 and lose another game to Dawnbringer. 10 isn’t even my original attack.

It really sounds like this game is progressively getting more and more bugs every time they try to fix old ones. I think they might want to rework the code here and do a big client update because with every update and troop release more it just adds more problems.

Look at all the legal hoops they had to jump through to get the troop contest in motion. I suspect there are similar legal hurdles involved with using players’ mechanic ideas in the game. That might be why devs never comment on ideas that come up, and why the things they do implement never seem to come out of the community. I’m trying to be generous in this interpretation, because there are two devs (Ozball and Salty) whose job seems to involve forums awareness, and other devs do read these forums regularly. I’m sure they see those ideas as they get posted. So I choose (maybe mistakenly) to be optimistic about why they don’t seem to comment on them very much.

@Grym2273, the upgrade to Unity was supposed to be exactly what you are proposing: a chance to go over all the code and hammer out all known bugs. The problem is that there is never enough time to fix all the bugs brought up in beta testing. When there is beta testing at all. And the community at large is very good at finding bugs that the beta testers did not.

Well like almost all people, I’m not fan of the iu. But this is the life. Already hundred people talk about this.

But anyway I guess it’s not forbidden to talk about some other suggestions for the next patch. So what about some (maybe stupid) idea for the next patch?

  • I really like to read every week the story of the new unit coming in the game. Sometime it’s just some joke, but sometime it’s talking about the story of krystaras. For example the battle of maurgrim wood between wulgarok and elemaugrim or the fall of doomclay was quite interesting.
So I wonder if add kind of encyclopedia for each kingdom for explain the story of kingdom and the background of each unit (with the full artwork (quite sad to see often time only half of the unit)) won’t be a good idea. Probebly a lot of job to do, but I’m sure their is some other people who like to discover the story of krystaras.

  • In the last patch, something good happen. Some unit (dwarf and undead) have a “racial” trait. I hope to see more of this. Like for example put to all knight holy armor or give to naga put a trait who give disease and poison for skull damage (after all, they are kind of bloody snake).

  • Forge is nice but quite annoying to farm celestial traitstone. Maybe change this by give the possibility to make this with some runic traitstone and soul.

  • druid rhynax and rocket gobelin are outdate. Their spell make only one damage to adjacent unit. Maybe change this and put half of damage of adjacent unit.

Have a good day

OMG

Sirrian could voice act narrating the troop and kingdom stories too! As an option of course.

But I agree, I like the funny back stories of the troops that appear weekly in the forums and they should be included in game.
