3.2.5 Feedback and suggestions

Hi, I’m hijacking someone else’s thread here but I thought I could comment on a discussion of how “new is slower” in my perception.

On my iPhone 7, all seems roughly the same, but I feel like 4x animation used to be a little faster. This isn’t “the CPU is burdened” so much as “I think maybe animation durations were tweaked upwards a little”. It’s not a big deal but I’m stating it for completeness.

On my iPad is where things behave much differently. It’s an older device, probably the original model of iPad Air. The good is the game looks a lot better at the same graphical settings and this very much pleases me. The bad is something that’s hard to objectively measure but here’s a before and after.

  • Before there was some kind of issue like a resource leak where, over time, the whole game would get visibly slower. Even a 3-match would appear to take time to process, and instead of seeing the animation things would just disappear/shuffle around because frames were being skipped.
  • After it seems like any time I match a large cluster of gems or use a move like The Dragon Soul’s that explodes a lot of things, I always get the slowdown. I don’t have any comment about if it gets worse over time: I got really into Pokemon Ultra Moon this week and haven’t played as much GoW.

My lizard brain blames the particles because it happens “every match” whereas it didn’t used to, and the particles are new. Personally, the particles don’t add anything to the game for me so I’d turn them off if I could.
