The game is good and all but, it’s almost 2020 and there’s no realtime Pvs.P, why? There’re folks that wants it, and folks that doesn’t. I’m sure that a lot of us wants to play against real folks, there should be a mode for it.

It’s hard to retrofit netcode into a game that wasn’t designed for it. It’s even harder if, in a year, you haven’t released an updated that didn’t require a hasty patch.
Besides, let me describe to you what your PvP experience vs. me will be.
- You sit in a matchmaking pool for a minute or so.
- You are going to play vs. me. We select our teams.
- It takes 10-15 seconds for the game clients to sync.
- I go first. I have a gobtruffle team. I have 30 seconds to make a move.
- I wait. 29 seconds. I make a 4 match.
- I wait, 29 seconds. I cast the turnip.
- I wait, 29 seconds. I cast Toadsqueezer.
- <this goes on for 25 minutes>
- I win. You didn’t get to take a turn.
Sound fun?

I too would like to see true PvP. I know what I’m going to say is most likely time consuming, expensive and maybe not profitable, but still I want to make the suggestion.
You don’t have to implement PvP like you, Slypenslyde says. That’d be a very bad move and totally agree that it is the natural result.
So, some ideas to avoid such scenario:
- Allow people to challenge other people. You choose your friends, your guildmates, people you know from the forums. This is in order to set up your own rules for the match (via actually communicating with the other person and reaching an agreement), rules that are not necessarily implemented in the game code. Example: let’s play all “support” troops. Let’s play RED vs BLUE. Let’s play divine vs demons. I could go on, but this is the general idea.
- Implement a DOTA 2 style of drafting. You ban a troop, or an entire team (say, L&D arachnaean weaver teams), then you choose a troop. Your opponent does the same, until you both have full teams (i am explaining in case someone is not familiar with DOTA 2 drafting). Again, it does not have to be implemented in the game, you can reach a verbal agreement with the other player. This interaction builds the community, and you avoid playing a farming team (gobtruffle like you said), or a troll team like the AW one.
- Establish different type of matches: classical, blitz and lightning. Chess players know what I’m talking about. A classic match would have say 10 minutes per player for the whole game. A blitz, 3 minutes. Lightning, 1 minute. No increments. This would have to be implemented in the game, obviously.
There are still some things to work out: what rewards would you get? How to cater to the P2W crowd once they realize they are getting devirginized by the F2P people? Who is going to deal with all the resulting conflict PVP generates: disconnections, cheating accusations, etc?
More ideas can be added to this, I’m not claiming to have the full picture. But I know it 'd require a lot of effort and is probably not economically viable. Still, one like to dream (the other day I was fantasizing about getting Tina on my first ever LT and TPK on the second, then do a threesome later, so… yeah).

I like your idea.
