Update 7.3 Sneak Peak!

Did everyone notice that the PvP features they are removing like defense team, revenge battles etc… Sirrian says it didn’t make much sense to have them.

I wish they would say that about the Arena Event, that can go in the rubbish as well

That event is a keeper - enjoy the free weekends whenever arena event is scheduled!

And on the other hand, would be easy enough to rework something awesome out of this event - if using more than one braincell.

Just remember, whar we have now is the REVAMPED version! :grimacing:

Honestly I do think it would be somewhat more bearable if they simply improved the weekend event rewards for it. I’ve never liked Arena, but it’s an interesting concept, just not worth the time.

When it comes to pointless events, I think, Vault weekends are the bigger offender. Raid, Bounty and Invasion offer a game mode, that is not available at other times. Arena encourages to put a bit effort into a mode, that is otherwise overseen. Vault encourages to do… something? The same, we do anyhow, but more of it?
In keeping up with the spirit to remind us of stepchild modes, they could replace it with a treasure hunt weekend.

I’m a bit confused - Vault event weekends are, by far, the most rewarding events. The increased gnome chance as well as the increased likelihood for gnomes to drop VKs makes it the ideal time to run GAPs and farm verses. The pity key system gives even more keys. While the most end-game players are likely rolling in vault keys they don’t need, most players can greatly benefit from vault rewards such as major and minor orbs, tons of gold/souls, loads of gems, etc.

Out of all the nonsensicle posts I’ve seen over the years this is right up there with the best of em…bravo!

I would just add the 48-72 pet rescues. Even if 25% are the same pet over and over again.

If it’s pointless then do yourself a favor and skip that mode.

Going on almost 9 years on this game and its about time to leave…

Devs dont hear us, devs dont care, and devs will release this bugged crap once again without testing and we may even see some more good ol Christmas bans again due to their incompetence…

I think you mean that vault event doesn’t offer a mode, it’s just us doing more of the same but if Arena event makes you do Arena then vault event makes you do explore and maybe you think that an event should make us do something different that’s why is pointless in that sense. Not sure if you like it or not but the Vault event along with GAPs was what allowed me to reach people that were playing for 5 years or more and what let me buy a bunch of deeds for magic kingdoms, an event that without it, I would stop playing this game.

Name any other event where you can potentially get six Orbs of Chaos for free?

6 wins instead of 8.
2 losses instead of 3.
No runs ruined by opponents bringing Dawnbreaker (or other Mythic Weapons) to the team.

Say whatever you will about also reducing the max rewards for a successful run, but player time is the ULTIMATE resource. Why don’t they apply similar logic to the Boss Dungeon?

This being said, the lack of a proper event page (with visible reward ladder) really hurts the mode.

Any of them. You can play them all running a team that generates treasure maps, which you can forge into vault keys, which can reward Orbs of Chaos. And if this feels like a very long shot, it’s by far more feasible than ever getting six Orbs of Chaos from an Arena event.

Let’s have some more fun and do the math though. To get rewards from Arena events you have to collect valor. There’s a cyclic reward sequence, with the valor cost of each next reward going up by 45 valor each time. The full table for the first six complete cycles looks like this:

grafik

That’s a total of 20925 valor to get six Orbs of Chaos. A perfect Arena run yields 50 valor, so a perfect player would need 20925 / 50 = 418.5 of them. Each one is a pile of battles, with an ill-performing drafted random team, even if you spend some time and gold on rerolling. 10 minutes for each perfect run feels like a pretty good ballpark number, for 418.5 x 10 = 4185 minutes, or 4185 / 60 = 69.75 hours.

Surprise, an Arena event runs 3 x 24 = 72 hours, so you really can potentially get six Orbs of Chaos for free. And if you run a live stream of your successful attempt, the internet is guaranteed to immortalize you in some way. So, yes, apparently Arena events are totally worth it and far more rewarding than expected.

Wow … but, thanks for the calculations. I’ve gone as far as the first Orb of Chaos, but I definitely needed something else in the background to distract me from the time required for it.

I might maintain my other point that Arena is one of the few non-sigil-based event modes in the game, and perhaps the only event mode that doesn’t include some kind of Shop interface for monetization. Even if it doesn’t improve the quality of rewards any.

I am good with 0 minutes of Arena. I have better things to do.

Vault

And you get loads of other rewards as well.

Since the introduction of merchants, even the writs aren’t worth the time it takes anymore (not to me at least).

Did you guys got the free lantern?

Mydnight just got pushed back another 2 weeks. Replacement events look quite iffy, I hope they are only placeholders and will receive some further work. A double Frostfire Keep faction event next week (Tuesday and weekend) isn’t something to look forward to, as well as getting sold Spring Emissary a second time as glory troop the week after. If there really are supposed to be repeated glory event sales, please also put up the old glory event weapons that newer players missed out on.

As much as I love new stuff, getting a complete repeat/skippable week from the week of Christmas - New Year is something I support.

Helps that I’ll be out of town for the tail end of that too…

Vault is not free, you need Vault Keys to play (similar to Event Sigils, Delve Tokens, Underspire Torches, Treasure Maps, etc). Otherwise, yes, the rewards are much better.

As for me? I’d be able to do Vault Runs more often if I farmed Treasure Maps specifically, but my bottleneck for most Soulforge crafting recipes is actually the Celestial Traitstones (colored Jewels second).

Vault weekend, and you gotta have to know what I meant because vault opening with keys is not an event.

From that you get your vault keys for free.

Or at least to me that’s free. No currencies have to be spent to get the keys.
