Official Mean Machine / Angry Sprockets Guild Chat (All Friends Welcome)

A bank limit of 10000 seems reasonable
Also if player fails to get the first 3 minimum requirements (100 trophies, 1000 seals, 200k gold) it will also be covered by banked GP. Say a player gets 100 trophies, 800 seals and 200k gold.
200 seals are equal to 80 GP (5 extra seals = 2 GP).
Those 80 GP will be covered from the bank at the same rate of 1:5 as mentioned in above example.

Iā€™m working on the google docs sheet right now.

Hk @efh313 put it all in the description of the topic
If you are still confused about something Iā€™ll be happy to address your questions

@HKdirewolf It LOOKS scarier than it is. Basically just keep doing what youā€™re doing and you will be fine. Or look at the list of proposed minimums in the OP and pick the one that fits your playstyle the best.

Hereā€™s the link to the OP again, just in case!

I was actually right in chat lol. I vote no for this, but again it doesnā€™t matter. Whatever floats the guildā€™s boat, iā€™m in.

Maybe another limitation: you can only store up to 1k GP per week in the bank? This way, it doesnā€™t get too imbalanced across weeks.

I think the bank is something that @DonBoba will have to balance as necessaryā€¦ which reminds meā€¦
I need to add the disclaimer in the OP!

Well if someone manages to store more then additional 1kGP let them store it
Theyā€™ll hit 10k limit fast and thatā€™s all

Why not?

Question from an interested observer: how will you be managing the tracking of all this? (more from the user/guild member perspective) Will everyone in the guild have read-only access to a google doc that shows them their weekly contributions, GP bank balance, etc.?

This seems like a really flexible and fair system, but a fair bit of work to track and manage.

I like the idea though it is a bit complexā€¦ with banks and suchā€¦ is there a way to simplify the whole idea?

I find the system promoting lazinessā€¦
It allows a player to bank up GP to take a vacationā€¦
For a top 30 guild who has lost its trophy act weeklyā€¦ i mean
hoguns rushed up the boards while we lose our avg weekly
if we use this system i truly believe we will be taking a step backwordsā€¦
but i stand with my guild if voted to use system.

Pretty much what @NYCUrbanity said. Weā€™ve been discussing it in Discord with the help of Mako explaining it to us. Itā€™s too much for me to re-type lol.

I like the previous idea of just raising the reqs across the board.
300k gold (half for those raising kingdom level), 1500 seals, 200 trophies.
I ,of course, will go with what everyone wants but I donā€™t want to be a silent objector or detractor.

For the sake of full disclosure:
The idea for the excess GP was originally presented solely as a means for @DonBoba to judge if ppl are not ā€œpulling their weightā€ how much leniency to be awarded. He in turn presented it as a Bank that everybody could ā€œuseā€ as needed.

I for one, would be fine with removing the BANK component altogether. But what attracted me to it was the fact that when I have an off week, I ā€œfeelā€ like Im letting you all down, with this Bank concept those ā€œfeelingsā€ would be alleviated. But, as I originally suggested all of that can be done behind the scenes with only @donbobaā€™s discretion as the visible determining factor behind a member being kicked or not.

I agree with the new system. My only concern would be the banked gps. How do we make sure a bunch of people donā€™t take an off week all at once? Say 1/3 of the guild happens to want to use their bank on the same week, I feel this would hurt the guild. I know i just had a cpl off weeks but now my finances are good and Iā€™m back. Other then that Iā€™m for it!

My husband and I have been discussing implementing a guild points system on console so Iā€™m keen to give this arrangement a go-ahead in a functionality run

That being said, if I were to vote instead within the current system requirements, Iā€™d be happiest with 1200 seals, 300+ gold, andā€¦ andā€¦ on behalf of myself and the 5 of us each week who arenā€™t trophy chasersā€¦ 120 trophies a week.

@MakoSipper has mentioned the functional disconnect between what we absolutely NEED to do as a group each week (ā€œgain Seals and donate to tasksā€) and what we would LIKE to do longterm (ā€œpwn the leaderboardā€). I agree 100% that recruiting high trophy earners is Donā€™s best ā€œyardstickā€ for finding active players; thatā€™s the type of player I look for, too, because IN ITS CURRENT STATE, this game rewards trophy whores.

Aaaand thatā€™s sad. Itā€™s exactly where I begin to have a serious bone to pick with the leaderboard game design in itself.

The reason? Iā€™m a huge fan of the original Puzzle Quest and the original versions of Bejewelled 1 and 2. In Bejewelled original, I was the #2 ranked global xBox 360 player for a period of about 2-3 years.

I got to that position by playing 5 hour games. I enjoy taking the time to evaluate the layout and landscape of the match-3 puzzle board. ā€œPuzzle boardā€ is the term that the Devs themselves have used in the past. I treat each game as a zen Challenge with its own reward in the solving.

But Zen and game enjoyment is difficult to achieve if one is required to pump out 200+ quickie trophies a week. In fact, itā€™s downright impossible, if I want to maintain a work-life-play balance. :frowning:

So if a new Points system can offer Mean Machine a variety of method for reaching our guild goals, Iā€™m all for it. That, or at least I hope I can beg The Machineā€™s indulgence and request a grace period whenever I might only be able to manage 99 trophies that week.

In the end, Seals are the way to go. Perhaps the Devs will eventually revise the leaderboard ranking to reflect a weighting between Total Seals earned and Trophies gained.

What I know:

  1. @MakoSipper is working on the document already. And has agreed to keep it updated.
  2. The formula for figuring out GP gains.
  3. How much of each resource I earn in a week.

With those three things, I can determine my own numbers and know if I am meeting my reqs, once I have met them, then I will no longer need to concern myself with those numbers. Whether I ever see the official document is irrelevantā€¦ but it would be nice!

Stanā€™s point about fair tracking is actually a more urgent concern than youā€™d think.

In tracking the progress in my husbandā€™s guild, there were a fair number of players whoā€™d achieve their weekly goals only on Sunday in the last 24 hours. In my particular case in the past, I have occasionally reached quota only in the last hour before weekly reset. I know of other former MM players who also made the majority of their gains on Sundays. No way for anyone to verify, so your knowing how much Iā€™ve ā€œbankedā€ would be problematic for the people who prioritize the workday over playtime.

@DonBoba, HK and NYCU are very, very unhappy with the new system. If you can, try to read all their messages on discord later. It was too much, but, to sum it all up, they think itā€™s a ā€œbuy outā€ that will promote more leeching, and it doesnā€™t consider the future of guild, which is to have trophies and aim more the stars in the leaderboard. They think the requirements should be static because you canā€™t try to please everyone (I think you should try, even though you wonā€™t be able to). Also, theyā€™ve mentioned that ā€œsystemā€ is being shoved down their throats and they donā€™t like it.
