New Guild Guardians Available

I think most people here don’t resent the players, but those who allow them to “get away with it”.
Yes, the ultimate source of the pain is the devaluation of seals, but when it’s pointed out that some have circumvented this and no correction will follow is what pisses people off.

Let’s say that for hazing/boot camp/sports week/whatever you have to walk a 40 mile course with rocks in your backpack.
Some smartypants find out that the finish is half a mile from the start if you take the bridge that’s not on the map, and also having only pebble in their pack counts as carrying rocks.
You probably wouldn’t blame them for thinking outside the box. But when the coach/organiser then also serves them first at the buffet you get rather ticked off.

Next time, could you, please, fix it after 45 minutes, instead of 40 minutes? I was 5 minutes too late to exploit it with developers’ blessings.

Yes, it is a sarcasm, mixed with bitterness regarding your “solution” or, rather of lack thereof.

Can’t argue with that: their history of actions/inactions is pretty self-explanatory indeed.

Right now, they’re just letting them enjoy the shortcut: if they start serving them first, then the story would indeed be different.

There is no lack of issues created by the QA and ‘rebalancing’ that affect us all negatively enough: when once in a while the playerbase (or part thereof) can benefit from it, we should probably save our energy for the bigger (ongoing and arguably worsening?) problems that keep getting incorporated into what was once an amazing game. :relaxed: :crossed_fingers: :vulcan_salute:

Yeah
But it’s gotten to the point where it’s unnecessary and spiteful over things that arent ingame or make no difference, or god forbid asks u to play more than 5 mins day
And I’ve seen people get flagged for less than nothing
I’m like ooo what vulgar or disparaging did this person say
Oh nothing at all…
Makes any actual game issue harder to address when EVERYTHING is a complaint
It’s the boy who cried Wulfgarek Lol

Hi there @Stix and @Jonathan.
I included gnomes as a big deal not because they are useful but because from an end game collector they are hard to “finish” off as a collection. The only thing I am missing is the mecha gnome and the only troops I have that are not mythic are gnomes and dooms. So for me the gnomes are a big deal because of the difficulty in completing their collection.

So @Jonathan was 100% spot on in conveying my point of view on those pesky little critters.

I almost feel bad saying it, but at this point that’s pretty much the game’s tagline. Either that or “We don’t eat our own dog food”. Just way too many issues that should’ve been prevented by any reasonable production pipeline with any reasonable QA integration.

It’s not, at all. The moment someone saw Guild Guardians from Gold keys (and it’d be REALLY HARD TO MISS SINCE THEY’RE AT THE VERY TOP WITH ‘NEW’ SPLASHED ACROSS THEM!) and then KEPT USING GOLD KEYS to get more of them, they were exploiting something.

Yes. If you got them mythic with gold chests, your guild chests are now far more useful to you than mine are to me, which means you’ll have an easier time getting new mythics, thus giving you an edge over me. Because you’re more likely to get the mythics from guild chests, it means you need to spend fewer gems on gem/VIP chests, which means you have more gems to throw at event shops etc.

Really, it’s a big deal. And it’s going to sting for a while, cause every time I throw all my seals into chests to get a new mythic and I don’t get it, I’ll be thinking “Damn, if only I had opened my gold chests that one time!” I was even online at the time, but it felt like it would be stealing, so I didn’t. I’ll know what to do next time.

I’m certainly not quitting over this. But I am disappointed at the “Oops! We’ll try not to do it again, sorry. It is what it is.” response. Maybe they can’t fix it, I get it, it’s complicated. But there’s been no attempt to take the sting off or at least acknowledge that it is a big deal. Maybe it’s unfortunate timing, I know Salty wasn’t feeling well yesterday (hope you got some rest, Salty), maybe she would be able to say more if she was at 100%. Still stings though.

Everyone’s keys are supposed to have the same probability of dropping things. The only difference should be the amount of keys you have, and in the case of guild chests, the progress of your guild for that week. But here we have the introduction of a new troop that will drop 50% of the time from every guild key I use, until I have 4 mythic copies of each one. That’s a lot of guild keys. As I posted previously in this thread, I used over 40 Minor Orb of Clans and 15 Major Orb of Clans this week to cash in 36 thousand seals, and I still only have 1 at mythic. That’s 1800 guild keys I used, which means 900 guild guardian troops dropped.

If someone else used Gold keys, then every time they got a guild guardian from a gold key, that’s one less guild key they need to use. You can’t farm guild seals, but you can farm gold keys, and people have stockpiles of tens of thousands. And I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that when some players saw they were getting guild guardians from gold chests, they opened all of their gold keys.

Don’t you think I would rather have 900 guild keys of mine going toward getting mythics, rather than getting guardians troops? Absolutely.

I’m confused… Yesterday I opened some gold chests for bounty troops (not a lot btw) Cunning showed a Boost Ratio of 4:1. Today I opened guild chests to get more copies and when I upgraded cunning I saw a boost ratio of 8:1 … Stealth nerf much, or did I miss something?

Yes I’m stupid meant ferocity and it is still 4:1… never mind…

Yet the devs can’t be bothered to even do anything this time… People who say it’s not a massive advantage. Who are you trying to kid yourselves or the developers ?

Exactly that.

The last time we had guild guardians, i was in my heyday and i bought the packages for me and my guild (real money, intrim 4evachoochoo) and was something like 10th in the game to max them out. So that now the only thing drawn outta the chest is chances at mythics.

It cheapens the experience when this super important thing was spilled out so worthless, that the fastest to do it were exploiters and River (mad props btw For both fairness and sheer throw down, river). One took 40min and a lucky unscheduled drop, and the other took a year of storing extras by careful work and practice, which more than a few have done.

It’s the fact that to do the same, the rest of us have to play catch up to 400 people or sacrifice zuul on the altar of blue orbs.

The problem is that even though this is clearly the Devs fault (regardless of who then attempt to blame it on) it would be far too much work to clean it up and since only a few (tens, hundreds?) got them they don’t believe that the issue is that important.

Remember, this is because they don’t play their own game at end game levels so they have no idea what the issues are, how the troops are used or why its a big deal. Expecting them to do something about this when it does not directly impact their perceived income is like spitting into the wind. If people got extra gems or seals or orbs then you watch how fast they figure out a way to make an adjustment or ban the exploiters.

pathetic.

I would have finished yesterday but I was pretty busy – finally finished getting the last of my needed seals today.

Was that 37K with orbs?

Correct. I used over 40 minor orbs and 15 major orbs.

Oh sorry, I meant ascension orbs. I assume you got enough to ascend to Mythic with just your seals?

Correct. I’m 2 orbs of power away from Zuul’goth so I refuse to use any Ascension orbs for troops anymore. I wish I still had all the ones I’ve wasted on other troops.

Once you get Zuul and feel free to start to use a blue orb here and there… :star_struck:
And Zuul is a solid troop with a lot of uses.

OK, let’s think about it. this is old but hey, I’ve been at work all day.

You used a real-world analogy: food stamps. I’m going to use a real-world analogy, then walk back to a real-GoW discussion after you roll your eyes and yell false equivalence.

Realtalk: actuaries are scary people, much like the Calculator class in Final Fantasy Tactics. Grocery stores and really any large retailer hire them because there is a lot of loss associated with running a store. Part of that is theft. They calculate exactly how much stuff is likely to be stolen and prices are adjusted to account for that loss. If there were no theft, your groceries would be cheaper. (Of course, not retroactively, but then we’re talking capitalism, which… is a kind of theft with rules in the grand scheme. It’s also true your groceries might be cheaper without capitalism, but it comes down to which -ism it’s replaced by.)

Anyway, let’s walk back to GoW. Tell me, class, why do we get new resource sinks?

That’s right, because players have amassed too many of the resources! So if guild guardians area new resource sink, what can we deduce?

Right! The devs wanted to somewhat devalue guild seals in a way that’s tough to analyze since it was coupled with an increase in the cap. But this system is temporary! All players will eventually get the undiluted pool and have more spending power through guild seals than before.

I can deduce they have some future plans to mitigate that, but it’s probably part of this larger 5.0 update they wave around as the second coming. New guardians was a way to buy some time.

Except now some players have moved faster than the devs intended. Which means we’re closer to the point where too many players have too many seals. And what happens when we have too much of a resource? A sink!

There’s also the principle of the matter. Theft doesn’t actually hurt you very much. You can obviously afford the groceries you pay for. The grocery store reckons it’s cheaper to write it off than wipe it out. So who’s being hurt? Why do we prosecute shoplifters?
