Yes precisely. In all fairness people are just using the system that was put in place, and I think the devs see that it has gotten out of hand. (speculation based on things we’re seeing) This wasn’t an attack on you, sorry if it came across that way. I know plenty of people spend money on this game, but it’s also fair to say that once you are in a top guild things become way easier to the point that you have the choice to never spend money on the game. I know for me, I bought the death knight armor and haven’t had to spend a single cent since. So I’m also part of the conversation in that aspect. My comment about not being better though wasn’t aimed at you or anyone. I DID address you though, when you said you were tired of people saying you get everything free when you are in a top guild. Time is free so you do. It’s a valid argument. This doesn’t go without saying though that it is a great thing to be in a top guild. If you spend that much time in this game, you want to be the best.

(Sorry for the ridiculously long paragraph lol)

Free in the sense that they didn’t used real money, but our time can literally be broke down into revenue one way or another… That’s why i prefer to call it an investiment. You can only progress investing, be it money or time and even a bit of each. I could just play less and get extra hours at work to pay for more gems/resources instead of playing countless battles in PVP in order to get more gold for guild donations for example…

  • On one hand i could afford much more resources using much less time than farming gold, but the catch is: It wouldn’t reward my beloved guild as a whole.

  • On the other hand i can simply invest my free time playing the game, making the donations and get stuff for me and my guildmates, but the catch is: I wouldn’t get the better kind of resource, gems, in the same amount AND if my guild is not “hardcore oriented” my effort could be bigger than some of my guildmates and then by the end of the week i would have “worked” a lot and received less than the “top guild players”.

It’s all a matter of perspective and choosing what you want, and dealing with the consequences.

Yeah I would agree that time is valuable if GemsofWar had advertisements on all platforms, but it doesn’t as far as I know. Albeit they do want people to play their game as much as possible, but they also want money to be spent. If the game becomes too free to play then they have to fix that situation.

Well, there is no use for us to go back and forth on the “time is free” argument. We’ll have to agree to disagree.

The bottomline is that people that invest more time in the game will get more resources even after guild changes. That’s how F2P works. The only way that changes significantly is if they become P2W.

Agreed. Please don’t think of me as a mean person. lmao I usually don’t find that many things that I have to speak out for on this forum, but this is just one of those things. We’re just sharing opinions and such, there really is no wrong or right.

Yep. As it turned out, glory keys didn’t work out for me during Glacial Peaks (ended up having to buy nearly 200 event chests just to get Mab), but for weeks before then I had just been cherry picking event keys for my last few missing legendaries and hoarding gems, so I was confident that I would have enough. This one was kinda dropped on us, and since I only have enough gems left for 200 event keys, it makes me very nervous that I wont get Sylvanimora to drop (or worse, get a bunch of Gloom Leafs). Anything that isn’t Sylvanimora past the first pack is a total waste, because everything old is mythic (in part from getting Green Seer for the first time during the Spring Imp event) and I have plenty of Glory.

Worst of all, once the week is over, all my agency is gone, and I rejoin the pool of everyone else just trying to get that last legendary to drop randomly. I know the intent is force urgency to get people to buy gems, but they don’t track with your progression level at all. And I do realize that the drops are tuned with the top guilds in mind, but with gem purchases being static as they are and the average cost to get a single drop so high, no reasonable amount of real money will do much to bridge that gap, since I would need $100 worth of gems every single week just to match what my guild is doing now, and $200+ per week to bridge the gap between ourselves and, for example, Dragon’s Peak.

I’d have no problem putting a steady revenue stream into the game if said rewards was a flat multiplier on gems/keys. The top players still wouldn’t want or need it to get everything, but they don’t exactly need to buy stuff now, either. Yes, its still RNG for drops, but at least I feel as what I’m doing in the game supports it, rather than being at odds with it. Fact is, I could probably meet the requirements for a top guild, but I like the company where I am and certain weeks where I have a heavy workload being obligated to play the game x amount would probably quickly suck the fun out of it for me. Basically, just make it so I can pay a reasonable amount to enjoy the game at my own pace, without being randomly locked out of certain content, which is all I’ve ever wanted.

Well, I’ve said my piece. I’m hoping the upcoming guild changes make things better, not worse.

No worries at all. :smile_cat: It’s all good.

3 troops, i want the legendary most of all, for glory reward, however maybe i will get lucky with the event chests.

I think the real story here is that people have come to expect that they can easily get Legendary and even Mythic troops at all. Even the top guilds shouldn’t have the ease of access they do. These cards are supposed to be incredibly rare; you are never supposed to have the whole collection. Unless you’re spending serious money. That’s how F2P has to work for the game to stay alive.

A key difference is that you will not be able to get the traitstones to fully trait the Legendary the week of its release as it is not offered via a Glory Bundle.

Unless of course you have a stockpile of that arcane traitstone or you’re willing to go Exploring for a long time.

I’ll be skipping on the lady(?) dragon. I only got so many gems left after Death, and even if I manage to get a legendary it’s a 50/50 chance of being another Gloomleaf.

I lived without Infernal King for the longest time and I’ve still yet to actually use him. So I’ll be saving for the next Mythic instead. Who knows? Maybe I’ll luck out and get the next few legendary troop releases in my search for the vampire king. Something to look forward to instead of going “oh, another copy of him”. :new_moon:

You are right on that. I would have dropped 500 glory on that legendary but having 3 glory reward troops would be burn out material. The way they did this legendary troop seems to be the current best option given the circumstances. I can not fault them for that. I have tried to staunch the bleeding (number of troops i am missing) by getting only 1 of each glory reward troop, but it seems i have another legendary to get. This legendary is something i want more than the other 2 because or the traits it has and not the spell it wields or its stats. I can’t wait to see how these 3 troops will help shape the game.

With the proliferation of troops diluting the pool, maybe we should have chests break down by color?

For example, you click on “Gold Chest” and you have the standard 3 options: 1, 10, or 50. But above would be an area to select which color you want. If you select blue you get just blue commons, rares that contain blue, blue minors, blue majors, or ‘other’ (gold, gems, glory, souls).

I made a quick mockup of my suggestion:

You can see the colors above with the indicator around blue. Put that in place for Gold, Glory, and Gem keys and you let people dial in to what they need. Need red minors? Gold key set to red. Want the new dragon (in September)? Glory or Gem key set to Green or Brown, you could still get all the Green/X and Brown/x troops, but you at least could rule out the Blue/Red or the Yellow/Purple

So are we getting one new mythic per month? I really hope not. Balance your older troops first please devs.

Do we really need 2-3 new troops each week. The collector in me says yes but my glory pile is screaming no.

Also to be honest, I haven’t used a lot of the new troops either! :pensive:

I like this idea, but it’d need to have some sort of penalty associated with the increased specificity. Like, you pay 10 or 50 keys but only get 8 or 40 chests, respectively.

I would be happy with that!

This. Been like this for months. Instead of balancing the existing troops they just keep throwing broken stuff at us for compensation.

Just like they had Broken Maw broken for weeks, then add a whole kingdom dedicated to counter Maw (srsly?) while still saying it wasnt broken… add Stun to finally counter Maw’s 3rd trait (this took weeks if not months) and remove his 3rd trait a day later. -.-

EDIT: With all the new legendaries, at least give some love for the existing ones. Cause IK, Maw, Mab, Khorvash are far superior to… Sheggra for example. Sheggra could very well be an epic card, both skill- and trait-wise.

I have no problems with Sheggra outside of her second and third trait. Her spell is fine.

Kerberos, Orion, Gar’Nok, Goblin King, though…
