On 4-5 gem matches, an enemy is Stunned and the first enemy is Entangled. With two converters, that happens a lot. Green Seer will Entangle the second/third troop at times, which means that Khorvash’s attack (or skulls) will often expose another Entangled troop. Khorvash mana drains and stuns, Sylvanimora does AoE damage and feeds the two converters. It’s a pretty strong setup, as it covers physical (Entangled), magical (mana drain), and traits (Stun). Only weakness really is Impervious troops, but they’ll at least still get mana drained.
I think that you’re right about this. But there’s a sweet spot, when it comes to anticipation. Too little is boring, too much is disheartening.
I think it must be extremely difficult to calibrate, considering the range of player investment & temperament.
I know when I see someone who’s upset about not getting a mythic my main thought is just, “Don’t plan to ever get a mythic, you’ll be happier that way.” This is a great coping strategy and I recommend it to everyone but I doubt it’s what the devs are going for.
He is a pretty good front troop, just like Gorgotha, but there are ways around to deal with him:
Pull someone else to the front.
Knock him to the last position.
Stun him.
Devour him.
On the Mana Drain meta i’ve faced an awesome team that mana drained my troops seven times in a roll, i retreated because it was taking too long, but to me it was a good battle in the sense that it was really challenging.
Yeah with that matchup I normally do a mirror match, sometimes I’ll swap out Mab for Psion for the additional drain and dmg to Manticore since freeze and mana burn are useless against it.
Holy cow, maybe I should wait to post from now on. I run Khorvash / Pride Guard / Devoted / Manticore and added that postscript to my last post shortly after losing both Khorvash and Pride Guard. His Khorvash was down to 0 armor and 17 life but for all intents and purposes it was over. I took out Khorvash, he took out Devoted.
And my Manticore, with the help of a few lucky drops, took out the rest of his team!
I’ll stand by my previous post. Khorvash = fine. Manticore? Probably a bit much.
They’re both a little OP, but not horribly broken. I think it’s a case of them going a little overboard with power creep and it just needs to be dialed back a bit so it doesn’t skew everything subsequent out of whack. It was clearly intended as ways to deal with Maw but the power creep is a bit concerning.
