[Investigating] Extra skull damage

What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
I expected the enemy skull damage to not do that much damage, it did more then I expected.

How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?

Further info
Hero class was slayer with no traits and the talents Ferocity, chill of death, soul caller, icy veil. The weapon a +9 mountain crusher. The enemy was Envoy Of Pride with all traits. The skull match was 3, with a doomskull in the middle. When it exploded it also got 2 more skulls off to the side. I can see the correct skull damage value of 35, but under that is another number that I cannot makeout. It would have to be at least 19 to do a total of 54 needed to be lethal.
Perhaps I don’t understand how doomskulls work. I would have expected the doomskull explosion to add +2 dmg from the 2 side skulls. I don’t see where an extra 19dmg comes from.

similarities ive observed:
_cascaded skull match(es)
_the skull match involves at least 1 doomskull
_the doomskull explodes adjacent (doom)skulls

As i said in the other thread, i think exploded skull counts as a seperate skull match
