Defense and auto play inconsistency

Ok, anybody remember star wars knights of the old republic series, and how you could cue your team mates to do certain actions under certain conditions and they would automatically do what you would normal y do? I’ve found that the defensive actions when testing the defense team do not follow the way I would play the team, and I think that a more robust algorithm control similar to what existed in knights if the old republic, in being able to tell the game more than simply what color gems to shoot for, would make another level of play to creating your defensive teams and would flesh out the game even more.
Any thoughts if you have an idea of what I’m getting at?
