Coronavirus Generosity

Stay safe everyone, only go to the store if you are empty for food.

If that’s the case and the devs just want to create hundreds of spoofed accounts to mimic a healthy playerbase, then my comment wouldn’t apply. (The new Mario Kart gacha game already does this - it’s a single-player game, and the placer races against bots.)

I’m still more likely to believe that the average F2P game does in fact rely on free players as a source of entertainment for paying players. The existence of outliers does not change that opinion. The goal of a game dev/publisher is to make money, and the uncapped income potential of F2P means the more players they attract, the more possible conversions they have.

Sorry bruh, but I’m not going anywhere soon.

If 6 were 9, Doo doo, bump bump tizz. Pay to win player walking down the street, hoping my kind will drop and die, but I’m gonna fly my war bannerz high.

Friend me on Xbox yo, gt: Chunky mono. I think WoT gave me a 7 day trial I can use next week once thes Dooms are done.

This thread will be locked soon enough. Thanks for keeping this game free for me. Much obliged. For the Horde.

Most free to play games follow the Pareto principle (the 80/20 rule) with the most revenue generated from a small player base. The same is likely true here.

That sounds awfully like something a beta would say.

My point really is. My account is almost VIP Level 7, so everyone knowing the prices understands that I paid by far more then any special super duper collectors edition of a Triple A Title would ever cost for this game. And it’s owners do not even realise how wrong things like last weeks new event went and do not even show the slightest respect to players who spent about 2k gems (and that were quite a few in my guild), which means 109 Euros on xbox store if you would buy them there, and are mean enough to avoid compensating us for that. What the hell is going on in their minds that they do not even consider how much of a “kick in the players face” that is?

I’m a bigger Hendrix fan than you.

You can’t pay to win in this game. It’s play to win. The money I toss to the devs is a tip jar.

I completely disagree with this.

Get rid of the f2p base & you no longer have the players to fill guilds & keep things interesting, especially across multiple platforms. Even paying players will eventually stop paying & need to be replaced from the f2p pool. I’m pretty sure I played almost 2 years before dropping my first $.

I own a hobby/game store with a play room for events. I have “customers” that come out to play every week who i’m lucky if I get a $1 for a snack from once every couple weeks and don’t purchase a thing from me otherwise. I still value them. Them being in the store means my paying customers have someone to play their new purchases with, making it worthwhile for them to buy from me. And to boot, most of my customers are ecstatic that I provide a place and a community for them to play. If I don’t have a community, i’m no longer useful to the paying customers and then I’m no longer in business soon after that. I’ll never get rich doing what I do, but I have the gratitude of an army of patrons who would donate a kidney if I needed it. And in lieu of the money, I feel pretty good knowing I make a difference for a lot of people.

So to reiterate - people need to get over the “I pay money therefore I’m more important and should have more say” mentality. While your money helps keep the game running, so does the gratitude of a huge volume of active players. And I’d bet most of the devs could be making more money doing something else, but they do this because short of a small group of belligerently whiny internet warriors, GoW brings them more satisfaction knowing how many people enjoy playing it than any other job they could be doing for more pay.

2 things wrong with this

If u don’t have PS plus, or prob an equivalent on other systems, u couldn’t download free games like this
I would assume they get some kind of profit to put the game on, not sure in what way, whether lump sum or per download

And your player base would be 1% of what it is now
Between lack of disposable income, or spending disposable income elsewhere

I’m pretty sure the devs make the same whether the sales are $5 or $500000
Higher ups make all the real decisions and take all the profits, the devs are just the worker bees
That’s why I keep my criticism to content and bad untested rollouts

On PlayStation at least, any f2p games don’t require ps plus to download or play :+1:

The spending amounts for CoC were intentional. It has nothing to do with “respecting” players because a lot of Gems that are spent on events are Gems that players earn for free. The devs/publisher have been nerfing the amount of free resources players can earn over time for years now. I am fully confident CoC was a litmus test to see how many players were willing to pay the new absurd prices (and by extension, how many more shop purchases happened as a result) and that future “World Events” will be shaped by those results.

I’ve paid into the game, and I 100% agree with this. (As mentioned in my last post, the only possible exception here is mega-whales, and I’m not honestly sure GoW has any. No, VIP 20 by itself is not mega-whale territory.)

GOW giving you free loot will not help your 401k that got hammered folks. I do like sales especially ones where you can give your guild mates gems but I am not demanding it. If you have more time to play because you are at home you will get more stuff anyway because of your increased play time.

wow, what a thread, i think people are being too serious about this and it ends up getting out of topic, discussing heavy stuffs… probably because of the lockdown or self quarantine?

the economic situation is bad everywhere, like real bad, let’s make the game fun so we can forget the real world for a bit, let’s also make the forum more relaxed and not so serious.

@Kafka and the devs, rest well to boost your immune system, and always remember that you guys are in the business of fun ^^

Um, I’m counting on the gold I earn in explore to convert to actual retirement funds. Has my financial planning gone astray?
