Confused about magic

I am confused about magic power and magic mastery. Most of the posts I see urge you to set is your home kingdom the ones that are magical, such as Karakoth. How does this help you with magic power? It seems that it only helps you with your magic gem bonus % chance. If you are not using magic as your main card color, wouldn’t you better off choosing a kingdom that gives bonuses to that color?

Your home kingdom doesn’t need to be set for a magic kingdom. In fact, in early game, you’re better off with your home kingdom set to Whitehelm, because it gives you the most glory in tributes. That’s what you need at this point.

Setting you home kingdom only doubles the tribute received from that kingdom, nothing else.
