Then I’d love to understand what you were trying to say, because what I saw was “maybe I won’t get offers for war coins until I already have a warband” and that in the context of “paywall”, to me, can only translate to “devs won’t give me war coin offers until I buy war coins to get at least one war band”
Level 1300, I’ve seen one war coin offer so far.
Level 1812;
2x VIP warcoins, 1x non-VIP warcoins.
I got the free coins from the calendar (not sure about the value, 30?) plus another offer from somewhere (70?) and an additional vip offer for 30 coins today.
I said “us” as in those that had all but that achievement unlocked. If that’s “you” then great, but it’s definitely not most players. It’s a small fraction of the player base. I am fully aware that others that have spent zero money on the game are able to get War coins as offers (99% of them don’t have 100% achievements unlocked though). That’s all I was trying to get clarification on.
On a different matter, the achievement is made in hopes that I spend money on it. Foolish to think otherwise. Since I’m not a new player. I can’t actively unlock it for free. I can be patient and wait and hope that RNG favors me so I can unlock it with gems. Or the supposed adventure board. But it’s there to bug completionists into spending more money. And though I like 100% achievements. I don’t like bull shit tactics like that.
TL:DR To buy something in a game with real money isn’t an achievement @Saltypatra. As if the Geoff achievement wasn’t enough of a farce. Y’all have continuously showed how meaningless and what a joke Gems of War “achievements” are. It’s unfortunate.
You will find in the fucture, i did 100% in the game the last week because i missed the epic vault. I did around 50k trophies in only exploration mode for take one key. i Took 2 times the war coin offert, one from arena and one from dayli offert (2 offert for 35 war coins)
I have never gotten a Warcoin offer via Arena or Daily Offers VIP or otherwise. All I have are the ones given originally. Level 1368
Level 1222 currently on Xbox. Got the free 35 war coins when they first released, but have yet to see a single deal in the daily deals for them. I am not VIP 6 as I have never spent a dime on this game and don’t ever plan to, so the 3rd deal is locked for me.
I’m VIP 3 and that’s only because of the free perks that were part of Game Pass or when some of the packs went free for a short period that counted toward VIP.
I hate arena and so I don’t play it unless its a required campaign task. And if I fail the task on my 1st try I just pay gems to clear it and move on as I don’t want to waste time on it. So I didn’t even know that Arena had deals, thought the only deal you got from it was to spend gems on the troops you were using.
This is worse than the deeds and it was nothing more than cash grab targeted at new players like the shrines. The Devs should have at least added them to store to be purchased with gems/glory and not real money or allowed players to reset the quest lines of all kingdoms so you could run through them and complete them again.
Plus the Shrine achievement is glitched on XBox and unobtainable currently. Supposedly it’s supposed to be fixed during the next major update. This most recent update just added more things that no one asked for or wanted and just adds more clutter to the screen, annoying notifications, and yet another currency/item to grind out.
A farce? You have the achievement along with a lot of others. You are proof it just takes time, that’s all. I’d argue you could get the Geoff achievement faster than Zuulgoth if explore was your main focus for farming. I know many high end players who probably have more than enough medals now for this achievement if they wanted it.
This is just another example of how players perceive things poorly in regards to time. Overtime more and more players will naturally get this achievement. There is no time limit. If you are an achievement hunter and a longtime active player, this is not a problem. If you aren’t, than achievements probably aren’t a concern.
TL;DR Achievements are meaningless, but none are paywalled. War coins are being offered, albeit at a slow drip rate that could be increased. Make it special offer though, as I’m sure Awr will be making a post in a few months about how war coins are being offered after he already got them all.
Just to add salt to injuries, it is actually against Microsoft’s TOS to lock achievements behind a paywall (or payed content).
But in this case, it’s a gray area since you could technically acquire war coins through the AB if they would ever show up.

I got 3 War coins offers:
Twice on Daily Offers: (sorry, don’t remember when)
and once in the Arena: (on 01/20)
Level 1301 here, never seen a WC offer (and now I’m about to wet myself).
I don’t play arena though.
3 days ago got one in VIP offers.
Next day got one in daily for 100 gems.
Can cross that achievement off.
I remember when diamonds were introduced in dungeons and they were awarded in random amounts. That soon changed and was made fair for everyone.
It’s good to know you learnt from those mistakes… oh wait.
I really hope there is indeed an Adventure Board instance for Warcoins. But I’m prepared for the inevitable slap in the face when it yields less than the 15 coins many of us need to get our first Warband.
Finally got this as a middle daily offer. Level 1480 on xbox.
On release, wasn’t it stated the day on the monthly calendar, which awards treasure maps was supposed to be modified to issue war coins?
Middle of the day offer? I thought those were merely the daily offers shown to the player again.
The “new player” calendar got war coins, the monthly calendars did not.
