31-8-2019 Server issues?

I actually have to wait until Monday for it to get fixed. So yeah…
Banks are not working on Weekends in Germany. You can just use ATMs.

And yes, I do think that at least 1 Person by Infinity checks by on the Weekend looking over some things… but not in the middle of the Night ^^" They start working in around 6-7 hours from now at least under the week, so may even later on Weekends. So keep that in mind. thanks.

Uh…yes?

Sorry ^^" It wasn’t supposed to sound so ruff. I’m Sorry.

Alex, I’ll take, “How to show you’re not old enough to have a bank account” for $1000

edit

Actually Monday’s a US holiday, if I had a bank account problem I’d get to deal with it Tuesday at the earliest.

Thanks @Slypenslyde
I thought I was the only one^^

I have a bank account problem. Right now. In real life. And I have to wait till Tuesday at 9am ET to get it fixed. Assuming Hurricane Dorian doesn’t keep the branches closed even longer.

Strange. I wonder why then there are so many people working night shift for watching networks and servers, even on weekends…

Yes, there are LOTS of people working weekends shifts at Amazon Web Services. All of them got called in by their bosses screaming at them in a panic, and they’re currently simultaneously trying to fix the problem and drinking all the whiskey in Virginia.

None of the GoW devs have the slightest thing to do with any of those people.

Okay. For better understanding let’s compare a Server-Hub with a Hospital:
You have a Nightshift. There’s, lets say 2 Nurses and 1 Doctor working at that time.
Then suddenly hundreds of people pushing their emergency-button at the same time.
What do you do?
Do you expect those 3 People to help all those hundreds of People? Sure.
But it would take a while… a long while.
So you usually calling for help. Or you fix the most prominent patients first.

I think that is a pretty accurate metaphor.

Good explaniation.
Amazone have Ops Engineers on standby when the servers are down. Those Ops engineers are trying fix it.

No. Because in your metaphor it’s still on the staff.
When in actuality. The hospital lost power, water, and communication.
And the patients are looking at the doctor like he or she can fix it.

I have the problem for only Gow and i am living Europe. But I can reach Amazon.de site. So it seems really Amazon USA problem

Part of the reason you pay AWS to host your stuff is so your people don’t have to stay up all night fretting over the servers.

Even if every dev were in the 505/GoW offices right now they can’t do squat. It’s not their servers that are broken. It’s the servers that belong to the people they pay to manage the servers for them.

You’re coming off as really entitled. It’s an online video game, one of thousands you could be playing. There are thousands of not-online video games you could play. There is hundreds of years of literature you could consume, and nearly a century of cinema that could be on your TV right now (except Netflix and Prime video are affected too.)

Go outside. Take a walk. Pet a dog. If you come back in six hours GoW will be working. If you can’t do any of those things I’m sorry, but one thing I’ve learned about emotionally attaching myself to online-only games is they go down when I most need them. Make friends with a game that doesn’t need the internet and you’ll be prepared for things like this!

Well, make sense^^
So we have two scenarios.
Either the Problems is fixable by the Doctor
Or it doesn’t.

But I’m checking the news… I have no Idea what happend there.
Do you have more Infos on it @awryan

Kinda funny how some of you are assuming they actually use AWS…

I see that Reddit is up and running

Or some other Server-Hub. Doesn’t matter. It’s a similar situation in every of these Buildings.

Check GoW again and is still down

This likely means that the disruption has been contained and is being fixed. So Salty, Sirrian, and everyone else will wake up in the morning to a 300-post thread that they can’t do anything about.
