I just want to point out that with seriousness comes principles 
@awryan and the rest.
Regardless of the compensation, entitlement, type game, budget and other “venting” discussions, this outage shows that there are flaws in relaying on a single cloud provider. Not to say that we are making assumptions on their high-availability design (or lack of). I’m quite sure that this type of outage possibility was considered in their BCBR plans, and this type of outage risk was considered acceptable, along with the potential impact on the user community.
If not, it sure shows that they have flaws in their preparation to deal with “ hosted vendor outage” issues.
Reliance on “single vendor” or lack of proper high-availability design was bought to light yesterday.
It is up to the devs to make a decision on how to deal with it based on “budget” or other types of constraints that they might have.
BTW, on my adult job I’m a network architect for a multi-billion dollar company and I deal with this type of business continuity/business recovery conversations almost on a weekly basis.
Bottom line, it is a business decision on the part of GOW devs, on how they proceed, regardless of our rambling. Also, it is the choice of the customer on where to spend their money and time, as shown above by players leaving.

Cool. Infinity Plus 2 isn’t a billion dollar company. Nor (most likely) a million dollar company even. So they aren’t allotted the same amount of resources that you are. Therefore, in line with their “adult jobs”… They rely on a much bigger billion dollar company than the one you work for. As to which their fail safes didn’t work… Err…umm…failed. Therefore, if the 5 hours of being offline does actually cost them revenue. I hope that the billion dollar company will compensate them. But I doubt they will. Because they’re a billion dollar company and will therefore have a clause in the contract that gets them out of such liability. So Infinity Plus 2 will just have to do their “adult jobs” and suck it up. Just like we will have to just try and enjoy our “adult video game” and try to move on from the time it was taken away from us for 5 hours.
