From aws:

At 4:33 AM PDT one of 10 datacenters in one of the 6 Availability Zones in the US-EAST-1 Region saw a failure of utility power. Backup generators came online immediately, but for reasons we are still investigating, began quickly failing at around 6:00 AM PDT. This resulted in 7.5% of all instances in that Availability Zone failing by 6:10 AM PDT. Over the last few hours we have recovered most instances but still have 1.5% of the instances in that Availability Zone remaining to be recovered.

So, because some backup generators failed in Virginia, no GoW for hours. Isn’t that just hilarious? :joy:

How do we get ‘compt’ed’ for lost rewards and such?

Tbh, while it’d be nice to get compensations, this time the devs literallt have 0 fault in it. If they decide to send compensations, great. But I, personally, wouldn’t push for it.

The devs actually have no obligation to do something in THIS particular case, as it was an completly external source to the bonking.

There won’t be any compensation I’m guessing, as the problem wasn’t with the GoW servers, it was a whole internet outage thing as stated above.

You’ll get the compensation outlined in your Quality of Service agreement, you signed one right?

I got it back late last year and… since I have more time-on-my-hands than I used to… i play more then, well… this.

Does it include even force majeure cases, that are completly outside the dev/publisher influence?

To be less snarky:

It’s hit or miss if we get global compensation for downtime. If you lost a sigil or two, filing a zendesk ticket usually gets you something in my experience. Might not be time left to get the sigil back but who knows?

I wouldn’t expect compensation in this case.
Like many others have already said this was an “uncontrollable error” on the devs part.
What i would appreciate is if they could extend the faction event to Monday as many would’ve purchased the shop tiers upfront to clear the full event.

lol… i left my ringspin going all day when i was out and about with the family, came back and when i click retry it finished! no lost sigil ftw

Popping in to update you all and clear some things up. (I also already posted a thread in Official News a few moments ago.)

We do use the Amazon services, so when they went down, we were also affected. On our end things are running smoothly, but not on theirs, which caused these server issues.

I was asleep when this happened, and since waking up saw everything and hopped straight onto my computer to gather information and liaise with all of you. Unfortunately, I cannot be awake 24/7, thought I wish I could.

This is an issue that we are unable to resolve ourselves, and have to wait on Amazon to fix. We have contacted them, but are yet to receive a reply. It is also worth noting that Amazon cater to a huge amount of developers, on top of everything else they do, so we are unlikely to receive a more official reply before they fix any issues happening on their end.

I understand that this situation is frustrating, and I wish we could do more to help.

Same here in Australia, I’m sorry gems of war team but blaming it on internet services not your servers is a bit hard to swallow! The chances of internet servers being down globally are 0 to none! We love this game and you guys are doing an awesome job an we love this game and accept there will be issues from time to time.

Many websites and services were literally down globally because of the AWS problems today…

@Kurik777 please feel free to research this outage further if you do not believe us. We do not have any control over the Amazon services and servers, and thus were unable to resolve this issue on our own. There has been a lot of discourse and news on this outage, so you are welcome to find proof of this if you wish to do so. We have no reason to lie to you about this, especially when it is something that could so easily be disproved if it was false.
