It’s called “false consensus effect” - people tend to overestimate the extent to which their opinions, beliefs, preferences, values, and habits are normal and typical of those of others. Unfortunately it’s also one of those things where people are more likely to dig in their heels and double down rather than admit that they’re outliers, so…*shrug*. Not much you can do about it other than not letting yourself get sucked in to a futile argument.

No. Figment of our collective imagination. Also, given his inveterate use of “we” to refer to himself alone, he must be a long-lost member of the Tsar’s family.
