Skulls against submerged troops

What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
Guild War battle. My last surviving troop (Ilithian Colosus) could not do any Skull damage against Axolotl, which was submerged.

How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?
In this combat, I did no skull damage despite 5 or 6 matches. It is the first time I’ve noticed this.

The Submerge trait avoids damage against the whole team, but skulls damage only the first troop. Is this a bug? Or a badly worded trait?

This sounds like either your troop was entangled, or its attack had been reduced to 0 by stat drain, or the AI troop kept getting barriered. Submerge has not protected against skull damage for me or for the AI I’ve played against.
