At the beginning of a battle the game will show three of a kind matches even though there are clearly four of a kind and five of a kind of available. It will also through the game show me a three of a kind match that’s actually a four of a kind. This is on the Xbox One
I have noticed it on PC as well.
I assumed it was just showing what the AI would do. AI often misses 4 matches
IIRC the hint is described as “a match” and you are warned it’s not always “the best match”.
Match-3 games have a very long history of recommending matches that are suboptimal.
On console i noticed the help hint seem to pick the closest match from my cursor
