All I ever see here is you whining never like anything, maybe you need to realize this is simply a game not a perfect world like you seem to live in. So perhaps start just enjoying the game and do less complaining because everyone makes mistakes cause thats part of being human. You like many others need to just relax and enjoy life after all that should be more of a concern than a silly game.
Really, says who?
Attack the points, not the person. Your posts boils down to āshut up and enjoy the gameā. Thatās not cool, you donāt get to dictate who can express an opinion. If you canāt attack the opinion itself, thereās no need to break your 5-month no post streak.
The devs are not lazy! This thread proves it as one of them took time to answer 11 (!) times in it. Its great to see a dev answering 11 times in an useless thread. Now if they can begin to answer to the bug reports and translation errors thread that customer take time to write and post, it would be even better. For improving the game for exempleā¦
Except salty isnāt a dev
Sheās the face of their social media
Salty is a Dev and sheās also your representation in the office so that your feedback, highs, lows etc is all heard and so that the team are always aware of whatās going on no matter what
Dev means ādeveloperā please explain what sort of coding or developing Salty is responsible for, @Kafka. What features has she implemented into the game. @Sirrian is what I would define as a dev. Not Salty.
The term developer for us generally refers to anybody who works on a video-game.
A developer does not have to be a coder or a programmer.
A useful game development team is full of diverse skill sets including organization, management, communication, art, 3D modelling, analysis, etc. If we had a team of only coders, we would have no game.
Development and social media are two separate teams and disciplines. Itās cute you all like to pat each other on the back at the office and call one another dev, but the true definition of developer is someone with a discipline in software engineering.

@killscreen your own link says itās not just programmers who are game devs.
Game Developers are anyone who Develops games, that means not only programming, but also design, art, UX, SFX, project management (organising the team implementing all the assets and features), producers, writers etc. We have many people on our team who donāt code the game but without them we simply wouldnāt have a game.
We are a small team at IP2 and we wear many hats, Salty posting on Social Media is one tiny part of her job. Also Iām pretty sure as game developers who have worked on MANY titles, not just Gems of War, we know what weāre talking about we donāt need a link that starts with āstudyā that is aimed at students to tell us what our jobs are
Headās up, our social and support team have contributed greatly to features and quality of life improvements. In fact, we spear headed a previous update and worked closely with the rest of the team to see it come to fruition.
Itās like @Cyrup and @Kafka said, there are a lot of roles that need to be filled for a game to be successful. Art, writing, coding, design, production management, marketing, PR, etc etc etc.
Thatās okay, we can agree to use the same term interchangeably! I really donāt think it matters, at the end of the day we are making games or not making games.
Itās a good thing they are separate disciplines, within the same office, because we all contribute equally and our games wouldnāt be what they are without each role! You are right, itās fantastic that they are different disciplines, as game developer can refer to the profession as a collective whilst programmer specifies a coder, social media manager someone who works predominantly in social, and so forth.
p.s
the first result (for me, anyway) on Google that comes up with googling āgame developer definitionā is the Wikipedia article that refers to game developers as anybody that contributes to the creation of a video game.
@killscreen Iām not super keen on your example, itās not indicative of the full breadth of the work game developers do, but I do want to use it to refute your own argument, since it was your choice to include it in your reasoning.
So uh, yeah, not all developers code. Literally took this from the page you linked.
Process is cool.
PS that links says our average salary is over $100k USD. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
God game devs every where wish that was even remotely true
Wow, look at how wound up all you ādevsā got by a simple statement. The fact is you can call yourself anything you want. I can call myself a unicorn and if I believe it, then so be it. Iām a unicorn! But, if you were to take a poll on what duties and responsibilities are for game development PR or social media would not be included.
Fact is, I still havenāt heard what @Salty has developed for the game. I know she works hard on social media relaying to the real developers features players are requesting, are broken, or not satisfied with.
Iām sorry if I ruffled some feathers down there at the office. I donāt really care to continue going back and forth about this anymore. I wasnāt he OP and this forum is littered with threads basically stating the same thing over and over. No need to continue to beat a dead horse.
I canāt talk about some of my other duties yet, but I will when I can. You see about 30% of what I do. <3
Falls off my unicorn
I asked Sirrian for a pay rise in accordance with the link killscreen posted and he laughed in my face
@Kafka perhaps you should consider moving and joining us Yanks then since it appears the pay is better here than it is down under.
There are also less poisonous snakes and spiders here, so thatās a bonus in itself, I think?
Look if youāre a unicorn Iām a unicorn.
