I get that chat is great and all… but it’s not the end of the world if it goes down for a little bit. You have ample time during the week to sort out all the guild responsibilities. I don’t think chat ever goes down for more than a day or two.
It’s not the end of the world. A minor inconvenience that people like to blow way out of proportion. You don’t need to talk on chat every minute of the day, you will not implode
And if we are speaking of a week or 2 I would agree. Server connection issues and chat down time has been happening since I started playing.
People also look at these issues when choosing a game. You only have so long to hook a player. The functionality of the game component’s also effects how willing the player is to spend (support, pay for, keep that game in buisness) from the moment they start playing.
This forum also exists as a marketing tool. It’s fun, yes. But it has it’s buisness side as well.
Ok, I’m obviously not in a chipper, ah shucks kind of mood so I’ll bow out for now.
There are plenty of ways to get into contact with Guildmates outside of a chat function. If communication is absolutely vital, you should explore those options.
The game worked just fine for over a year before chat, nothing has changed since then, so it going down isn’t a huge deal.
…isn’t a huge dea| to you. Please don’t pretend to speak for everyone. Obviously it being down is a big deal to some people, hence why they’re voicing that here. If you and others want to white knight this issue and claim no one could possibly have a legitimate issue with the current state of chat, then I’m afraid you aren’t speaking from a position of wisdom nor reality. It’s fine if you don’t have an issue with it, but it’s also fine if others do.
You misused “white knight” as I’m defending nobody.
And you missed my point entirely. The game didn’t need chat to be playable before and you don’t need chat now to play. It’s not like in-game chat is the only way to communicate either.
Also, people MAKING a big deal out of something =/= it actually being a big deal.
I’m not trying to start any drama here, I’m simply pointing out that you (and others) saying it isn’t a big deal is your opinion, not fact. And you only need to look at some of the comments to see the white knighting going on; which I understand, people like this game and thus want to defend it from criticism they don’t agree with but that doesn’t make for a healthy community. Constructive criticism is much healthier than blind denial.
If chat was essential how come it wasn’t available for over a year?
If you think I, one of the BIGGEST griefers the Devs deal with, am “white knighting”, then it is YOU that has lost touch with reality.
I have been stating facts and not my opinion. If you want my opinion, I’ll share it. However, considering how irked you got earlier with what I said, you wouldn’t be able to handle it, much less understand it.
I agree, for what it’s worth. Constructive criticism is a good thing. I just find some of the intensifiers and rage caps to be energy that could be withheld for situations befitting their use, like an alien invasion or the Seattle Sounders actually ending a season with a positive record. This particular issue seems an odd one to jump the shark over, but I confess I use chat as a supplementary tool at best and so am relatively unaffected.
It appears you are reading a lot more into my comments than I intended. I promise that you have not “irked me”, so no worries. It does appears by your implied tone that perhaps it is I who have irked you and if so, I apologize; that was definitely not my intention. I simply fail to see the point of people telling other people they shouldn’t “feel” the way they do when those feelings are not shared.
Example: You feel this isn’t a big deal; that’s your right and I have no issue with that. Others feel it is a big deal and that’s their right, too. The issue I have is you and others telling those people they are wrong; which is an opinion, not fact and if your opinion is valid, then so is theirs. That’s the problem with opinions lol.
Anyway, I think this back and forth, while enjoyable, has probably passed the point of being constructive so I’m going to bow out but with all sincerity I do not mean offense with anything I’ve written so I hope I haven’t caused any.
I would agree that some of the energy in this thread appears a bit…overkill but I see that coming from both sides (and I’m not putting my own comments above reproach lol) Silly internetz.
Constructive criticism is marvelous. However, in this case, the devs have already stated multiple times in multiple threads that they are moving to a new server. (I forget when they said this process will be complete.) The important part to note is that they are already keenly aware the current server is horrid. They don’t need to be convinced of it with exclamation point rage. Therefore, comments such as “get it fixed nao!!!” isn’t constructive criticism.
Well, I would venture to say that the “mocking” that was complained about (the reason this current line of chat even started) was aimed at the nonconstructive whining not anything constructive.
