I seem to recall updates showing up too early has happened in the past, caused by Infinity Plus Two providing incorrect release dates. It’s an automated release process on Amazon side, so there’s really little Amazon could have gotten wrong that wouldn’t also have affected a whole lot of other apps. I don’t know what happened this time but I definitely wouldn’t bet any money on Infinity Plus Two having done a proper job.
Fair enough I have not been here more than a year yet so have not seen them do any early releases like this but I have seen the verification process taking a long time to draw out a fix. I am only going by what little they have said about it in previous posts in the past. I know they do have a habit of messing up the code and I don’t doubt the initial problem of rolling up the update is their fault but if amazon already has the 6.2 update they likely have to re verify the 6.1 update to make it the store version again or wait for human intervention on their behalf.
Got to agree with Valnir on that. Seems unlikely that theyd be a dialogue for them to send a update and ask them to stall the release. But unless theres any word from a dev or a GOW official then thats what we should presume.
Been in duscussion with one of GOW team they seem very reluctant to say when the update will drop. Guess we should just assume its next weekend. My only thing with this is, it would mean we get three new mythics in one week… So who knows.
Ha! Good point, completely forgot about the campaigns. Well, then I guess they only really have until the week of March 20th to get this patch done. Good luck to them.
The problem is, while the APK allows you to install 6.1, if you try to run that version of the game, then you just get an error saying there’s a newer version available, and that you should download it. So the APK isn’t any solution at all. As a result, Amazon users can’t run 6.1 or 6.2, which means we’re screwed until somebody figures something out. The dev silence over the last two days hasn’t been comforting. Or professional.
Yeah I know those with amazon devices are gonna have to wait for them to change it on the store because when it looks for the version it wants the most up to date one and 6.2 isn’t able to be used because then only some mobile players would be on an unfinished 6.2 and so it is a loop until the amazon store puts back the 6.1 version on the store.
Yeah they should of posted a explanation or a admision at least, rather than faux soloutions. This is the worst part of the way they handle all there bugs there’s"a major lack of transparancy".
This is One of my bigest problem with any and all f2play games, you cant really ask for any kind of compensation. Were loanies at best and at worst unpaid game testers with no real rights but these are the times we are living in i guess.
install this then install it from the google store turn off auto update and uninstall the amazon version it doesnt work great but atleast you can make guild reqs if this is your only device
The team is currently still investigating what can be done to get Amazon players back onto 6.1.5. I have been grabbing any tickets that have come through for this as well or directing players to the Known Issues article.
As @s-wolff shared if you are able to download Google Play onto your Fire tablet, there are some more options available to you to download the current live version of Gems of War.
Also, I am currently following up with the development team why players are experiencing issues attempting to manually direct download the Amazon APK file from our Help Centre, as it should not require you to download Google Play for it to work.
I completely understand how infuriating this is for everyone and appreciate your patience, once there is any more information or I have some further steps on installing the APK without any issues I’ll jump back into this thread.
At least now these devs have gotten a taste of their own medicine!
Wish I was a fly on the wall to see how many people can’t get in and how much money they have lost because of it.
The problem is they wont learn a lesson.
Kudos Amazon, I sincerely hope that this lasts until the actual release. Pretty sure there are stipulations in the dev contracts for instance iOS that only allows so many updates per quarter or whatever the time frame. So they can’t even force it out on other platforms.
Sorry to all of you affected! Thoughts and prayers! That makes everything all better.
We wanted to give small update with the 6.2 Update early release on Amazon.
Unfortunately after talking to Amazon and looking into this, once an update is released on a platform we are unable roll the update back to the previous one. This means that we cannot revert the Amazon Store to go back to the 6.1.5 update.
We apologize to the players who have been affected by this. We are putting in steps to try to prevent this happening again in the future. We are also currently looking into compensation for Amazon players once the 6.2 update officially releases.
As Jeto has mentioned, the dev team is investigating why some players have been experiencing problems with the apk that has been shared. The apk should be the same version as the one that was available on the Amazon Store originally.
Currently we suggest that affected players, either downloading Google Play on your Amazon device to try and download the game that way (as shared by @s-wolff).
Or if you have set up account linking for your account, you can use it to play on an alternative device such as Steam, iOS or another Android device using account linking.
Appreciate the updates from the devs, but it still means we are likely to be down around a months play, that is a lot of stuff we are missing out on. What compensation are we looking at, as 50 gems does not cut it?
I believe the usual way to fix this is to publish 6.1.5 again as a version higher than 6.2, e.g. 6.2.1. That way everybody can update back to the functionality of 6.1.5, disguised as 6.2.1, without locking anyone out. I take it Infinity Plus Two considers this too much work on their side?
So, basically like the previous time this issue happened? Just that this time around some miracle will happen, causing the next time to play out differently?
Players will be missing out on new collectibles, campaign progress and possibly their guild membership. I’m really curious how that is going to get compensated even remotely adequately. Are you going to set up a job that ensures their guild requirements are met while they are locked out? Will they have the option to obtain new troops like Steel Snake without having to fish through thousands of chests? What about new weapons like Mystic Manuscript, they won’t have to wait for the next kingdom event to craft them in the forge, right?
Or the devs could just let Amazon players use 6.2. It seemed to be working fine for the hour it was available before. The only caveat would be that playing 6.2 on an Amazon device would lock you into that device, since you wouldn’t be able to play 6.1 using the same account on any other device.
I’m not sure why the devs keep sounding confused about the APK. It sees 6.2 available and thus requires the download. It’s working like it’s supposed to, right?
It would be nice to get some sort of ETA on 6.2. If this is going to get resolved in a week or something, then it’s not worth it to me to go through the hassle of installing Google Play, installing the Google version of GOW, and then uninstalling it all a few days later. But if this is going to take a month…
And it’s sort of sad that the only solution presented by the devs is to foist the work onto the players. An accelerated release of 6.2 couldn’t go any worse than a regular release… could it?
