Problem is that FG enables both a rapid Devour or two via Kerberos and a rapid barrage of skulls via its own ability. There isn’t a team that is particularly effective against both of those without being miserably slow.
Now, a couple of Spirit Foxes might work OK. But that’s not actually fun to use.
Mercy, valk, justice and mab. Prety much destroys them.
My issue is, i was screaming at my TV the other night as i tried Kerb 4 times and he failed on all of them. The AI gets a devour pretty much every time!!! Same with DS revive. DS revied 3 times on me today on the AI team.
Finding a good team against the kirby team isn’t hard.
The problem is finding Six good mono-color teams against them for GW.
And then there’s the issue that 50% of GW battles now are basically the kirby combo.
This is like the old goblin, webspinner, or pre-nerfed centaur scout phenomenons all over again, except only in GW
Ok, without trying to sound snippy or anything, why don’t we turn this thread into something constructive?
Can people please share their MONO-Color team that they use in GW that have been successful against the kirby combo?
I will try to compile a list here for all six colors, and hopefully this can get widespread enough to discourage the use of Kirby/FG for GW defense too frequently.
you have my vote and i hope dev’s do this seriously, it would likely stop high level players also seeing kerb/forest guardian combo 4/5 times in pvp. although being serious i doubt they will change it
Appreciate the sentiment, but the effort is futile. I don’t think people are playing beasts because they aren’t beatable, but because they have the best chance of winning when they get a little bit of luck. So posting teams here won’t really change it being overused, only better defensive alternatives will do that.
With that said, I don’t mind sharing a team. For purple, I use Carnex/Aby/Psion/Ele, and have never lost a battle (and only lost a couple troops) since GW started. 2 imperv troops, a couple exploders, mana drain, summoning, and attack reduction for skull baiting. Only potential weakness I’ve seen with this team is if Kerby gets lucky when targeting Aby. You’ll still likely win, but you can’t replace the troop.
Outside of Kerberos, is FG a problem anywhere else?
When Wulfgarok was buffed, it did make the team where someone had FG, 3xWulf pretty dang scary. I’ve only seen that team on defense once, so I don’t think its a problem, or we’d see it more.
The problem is really that Kerberos, eats, gains the stats, and spawns, all at once.
I will have to see if the barrier changes make Kerberos risky enough to reduce the meta.
FG is a problem because it makes me loose (general answer: no it’s Kerberos’s fault)
or, FG is “in theory” too powerful
I am more interested by the second aspect… And I think that FG seems a little bit strong: his spell is really powerful (he can almost fill himself, create a ton of skulls) and his 3rd trait is also quite powerful because it allows some nice synergy.
I will prefer to see his 3rd trait on another troop (Hero?) and giving a less powerful one.
after one devour (it would have to be re-worder to ‘steal’) the next casts would devour/steal very little of stats and in the end the steal/devour effect would never kil lthe unit so i think its not too bad idea
Another option would be to base it on Health, make Devour guaranteed to trigger if the target has at most the specified health percentage left. Maw would still work on any troop, Kerb would require the target to have lost half its health first. I’d actually prefer that to a random coin toss, allows for more strategies, you could use healing troops to keep out of devour range instead of getting punished for having high stats.
