If the arena were to be canceled without replacement, I would seriously consider quitting the game after over 8 years!
That’s not really the point at all. Right now most players seem to basically ignore the weekend arena events for various reasons. So adding something they will need to do to keep up with their guild contributions in place of something they skipped without impact means they will have more overall to do to keep up with guild requirements.
That’s where guild managers become concerned about the new GW running concurrently with other required guild events again, and worry about more players becoming burned out. So the point being made is that from a guild management perspective it would be better to either replace another guild event like journey, or work GW into the rotation of guild events to have dedicated time, rather than stacking it on top of other guild events by making it a weekend event. A point I definitely agree with.

How about gw managers make GW optional like many already do?

We wouldn’t be concerned about event overlaps if we didn’t want to participate in both things. Most of my guild would want to do all of the guild events but would prefer not having to do more than one of them at the same time, that’s our point.
Obviously the scheduling won’t matter to guilds that choose not to participate in the new GW, and of course any guild could choose to ignore any guild events they want. That goes without saying.
