How are people liking this week's GW so far?

Any first hand grief or excitement?

I like it 5-0. 1376 PTS.

Irrelevant game mode with slightly relevant individual reward aaand incredibly valuable team rewards which nowhere to be seen by a handful of people except for top tier guilds

If you are talking about the daily win, half the guilds get those. The main problem is that guild pairing is beyond unfair, like today the number 1 guild gets to stomp the number 31 guild into the ground.

It’s very unusal for a company to leave critical bugs unaddressed for months, especially when they make their most prominent game mode essentially unplayable. Apparently the game has been mostly abandoned on development side and is close to being shut down entirely.

I and another guildmate were only allowed 4 battles. These bugs are getting ridiculous.

Navigating the map is still a pain in the arse. I almost played a battle in the same location as I pressed right but it never went to palace. Was like that in a couple of the battles. This should have been fixed ages ago but medallions got to be sold

Wait…is GW designed to be fun? I thought it was designed to push players to quit Gems of War and play Puzzle Quest instead. If that isn’t the intent then uh ohhhh.

For the first time ever I went 3-2 because I literally couldn’t believe the defense was that much better than a human team. Spoiler.. it was.

My fault though for trying and just taking the easy 5-0.

and that easy 5-0 would have earned you even more points

If anyone needs training on team building, I’d do it for free.

5-0

If it means anything, I actually felt punished for not buying Kukulkan from the PvP Season 1 Shop and still not having it show up in the Soul Forge despite how long its been since that season.

Thanks, I guess. A working as intended moment if I’ve seen one. Cant wait for it to show up next week in the Soul Forge /s.

This response is by no means meant to target you (or anyone else); I just think it’s interesting how often the game’s imminent death is mentioned over the years. Just for kicks, I decided to search ā€œgame is dyingā€ and see what came up. The forum search is a bit janky, but here are some examples I found over the years.

2025:

2024:

2022:

2021:

2019:

I got tired of searching past this point :joy: I’m not implying your points are invalid or that your concerns are unreasonable, just that the game continues to survive after years of ups and downs, and that the recent overhaul of GW - love it or hate it - does not seem to indicate a dying game.

Then please send some active players our way. We dropped from #2 to #3 on Xbox leaderboards not long ago since we can’t find any active players at all. Reqs are low, about 50% of #1 and #2, all tasks are still done on Monday and we finish every event, even though it takes longer now with less people. 24 per average, 18 that registered for GWs with a defense team and 7 that actually played. It’s been like this for a few months now. Other than that the remaining players are having a good time. It’s just sad to see one after another leave the game and never come back lately …

Well, technically it seems to have died at least twice already, then got revived each time by some other company buying it up. I’d say it’s a miracle and a tragedy. A miracle because it keeps surviving despite the way it gets neglected. And a tragedy because it could have risen to spectacular heights if it had ended up in the hands of someone who cared about it.

Got erased by Chrdasljkd dragon insta-loading itself with Emberclaw’s cascade 1st turn, what a cool restriction mechanism we got here!

Love this game mode, cant wait for the next one

Meh. Once AGAIN I completely forgot to set any defense teams.

In the old Guild Wars arrangement, The Black Hand was 2 or 3 brackets above the now number 1 guild (ie 20-30 guilds higher), yet now that starting ELO’s were based upon trophies, you think this match-up is somehow unfair against TBH ??

I’m not saying that mismatches aren’t still an issue elsewhere, but I cannot agree with the example provided as a mismatch, though perhaps it could be inferring that the old bracket system was not working either.

No, I’m saying this match-up is unfair against the ELO system. Matching the #1 guild against some #31 guild shouldn’t ever happen. The Black Hand started off way lower than their real strength due to the trophy based initialization, they’ll eventually move to the place where they belong. But the server will keep pairing the #1 guild against what it has to assume are easy pickings.

We got paired against a guild almost 100 ranks below us today. That’s probably another player or two permanently quitting the game.

Ok, so the language about being ā€˜stomped’ has got nothing to do with your argument in this case, as TBH was ranked 20-30 guilds higher than SoA in the prior set-up of Guild Wars.

If SoA had been ā€˜stomped’ by TBH, then SoA could equally argue that they’ve been ranked far too high due to it being based on trophies and not their previous strength in GW.

If your point then is that 30 guilds higher/lower is too great, then what do you think is ok?

My own view is that 10 higher or lower is too few as it get’s monotonous fighting the same guilds every time. A range of ~25 higher or lower seems about right, but I’m not sure how fast the cliff drops off after the first 50-70 guilds.
