Guild Wars, Point-Scoring for Battles, and You!

Ricky… Easy. You’ve said a lot today and at this point we’re just repeating ourselves. It’s why I’ve shut up. No point getting any more upset. Nothing else is going to change now.

Just count to Friday. 1… 2… Pony…

Not that being Paragon matters other than a small stat boost under the new scoring system.

I get your point. I personally don’t mind the changes. Just make it clear and transparent so I know what I should be focused on when I craft a team or playing strategy.

I’d like to be able to tell my guildmate when they asked me how I got that point. I have no idea at all. The only thing I knew, I got score 2827 when I gave opponent 3 turn so they collected some mana and my first troop was damaged by 3 point from Famine’s trait. Other battle I fought with same team same opponent deck but I gave enemy 0 turn. They didn’t get mana or deal damage and I got score 1326.

When I read the changes for first time I knew that my deck will not get speed bonus but I’m very confident in mana and damage efficiency. But I got punished because of flaw in their formula. I got punished by playing this game right.

If I knew what criteria that gave highest bonus, I’d like to work on that aspect to get the best result as possible. For example, if survival bonus is lesser than speed bonus, I’d probably won’t bother bringing summoner.

Normally I’d practice for next day after I finished one day but right now I don’t even know what to practice with, what aim should I be focused on, etc.

Because i dont know how to read? I havent heard him and talia talked about many times? Because there is now way i was curious and went back and read a lot of old threads to see why they were banned because nobody will give me an answer other than they posted sexual stuff…

You are right i must be to stupid to read old stuff…

Are. You. Freaking. Kidding. Me. Right now?

I have spent the last several hours trying to bite my tongue and this comment just takes the cake! Nobody wanted to change the point system for GW?

I almost wish i would get banned so i would have an excuse to not come back…

And im the troll…

I am sick to my damn stomach right now

I may not be back and domt cheer to loudly

Is it just me or are the players that loved the Old GW system now Hate this new version?

I know I absolutely loved the old gw system. Only thing that kept me interested and playing the game.
Now its been replaced by this crap. Ffs

I wouldn’t say that I hate but I just don’t understand it or the mechanics for scoring very clearly.

If this is supposed to be simple then it is far from that currently.

One thing we must all keep in mind as @Sirrian did say it will likely be tweaked next week so let’s not get to up in arms as things will continue to evolve as we learn more about the new system and they learn of its pitfalls and its positives.

How exactly does one misunderstand “i domt remember anyone asking for it to be changed”?

Its a pretty clear and straight forward statement and contrary to popular belief i am not stupid

Be careful. Call outs are not allowed. You appear to be suggesting that Vangor is a previously banned user. If you have this suspicion, you should send it in a PM to @Saltypatra with evidence. However you may feel about Vangor, your comment is close to the line.

Also there is two ways to leave feedback negative and constructive.

If you don’t like something explain why and suggest alternatives on how to improve it simply adding remove it or put it back does zero good.

So please let’s keep the feedback constructive and help this evolve into a system we can all enjoy and benefit from.

This doesn’t feel like tweeking; this feeling like a blindside. Their posts kinda made it sound like the only change would be 300 points per battle, not this “voodoo” point system. No other game I’ve played is based on some nebulous point system. I dropped over 350 gems because I was finally paragon after 3 month of hard work under the old point system.

If the change were honest. Ok. We understand. NOTHING About this wholesale fleecing which was supposed to make GW better happened. If they said " this is the scoring based on x,y,z etc but sometimes it’s better to think outside the box, then it wouldn’t be maddening.

Ok @Rickygervais i can see i am much too stupid to understand what you are trying to say so i shall take my leave of this and go play with my legos

In the interest of following @Ghaleon’s advice i will keep my comments constructive so here goes…

As i said earlier i am leaving now and i may not be back so dont all cheer at once… Or do… I could care less

Things seem to be getting out of hand, others fighting does the issue no good. Please let’s keep things civil here and constructive.

We need a respected moderator from Europe. Then babysitting of some forum users is much covered for all the time zones.

I know. Half my guild is from the central/western USA. We are asleep by the time we can speak to someone! I’m sure email tag or waking up at 1am to catch a dev online is soooooo much fun

Whoa that’s 350+ posts in under a day… well I’ve read Sirrian’s opener… not sure I will ever read the rest… did we get an estimate of when we see the next set of GW changes (to incentivise defence variety)? I had 4 out of 5 GW matches against Psion/Famine as usual yesterday…

@Jainus it will be in a small update after 3.1 so not for today

So far, I have 2 main issues here, and both relate to the speed bonus

  1. I don’t like that matching 4 of a kind counts as taking an “action” against the speed bonus. It’s possible to kill in 1 or 2 turns sometimes using teams with colour changing, but under this system you could quite easily lose 15+ “turns” from using your spells. It makes things like Goblin teams much weaker.

  2. I actually disagree entirely with using speed as a metric for points in guild wars. We already have a PVP system that heavily benefits those players who use a faster team over a more reliable or consistent one. A lot of the appeal for guild wars was that speed was no longer the priority, consistent survival was.

First at all, I think these rules should be applied for PVP where it’s a Player versus Player mode, so where the most skillful player wins (and not the best grinder…).
As you mentionned, the speed bonus is just strange as a good player should not take 4+ matches…

For me the issue is that you have to target all the 4 rules if you want to maximize the points so my simple advice is to take only the maximum of one or two rules only. So if you want to focus on survivor, you can by using summoners. If you want to focus on damage, you can focus on big damage dealer (without caring about summoners). Etc. So you will 4 ways to maximize your points better than 0 which seems to be an issue for players here.
So yeah it’s not perfect there will be only 4 ways but it’s better than the old system (only 1) and other rules could be added in the future.

For the “good player definition”, it’s a player who:

  • doesn’t miss the extra turns
  • able to start cascades with a match (not with a skill or thanks to RNG)
  • has skill to use some troops (transformers for example)
But none of the new rules for me characterizes “a good player”… For example, a lucky CB/Sacrifice/Elspeth/Deathknight-Purple should get a very good score… And using this team is only a matter of RNG not skill.

Devs added the rules not because of some complains but because players are leaving which is normal when there is nothing new in a game. So to launch the “it’s new stay with us”, they added these rules to make it more enjoyable.
Oh it’s only my assumption as we don’t any clue why devs decided to change the invade teams…

Devs are all hiding, I think trying to figure out how to fix “edge case” GW scoring.
