4.0 Stream Notes
Factions
– Two new factions at launch: All-Seeing Eye and Hall of Guardians.
– New factions released monthly. (See Faction Events, below).
– Factions have their own banners.
– Functions related to factions are locked until Faction questlines are completed. They are very short.
– Faction dungeon board now contain Barrier blocks. These blocks can be destroyed by exploding surrounding gems. Each Faction contains different layouts of Barrier blocks on their game boards.
Treasure Hoards
– Two Factors → Level and Quality
– Level provides stats to the team used in that factions’s delves.
– Max Treasure Hoard level = 1000.
– Quality increases the quality of loot obtained from Delve chests.
– Six tiers of treasures. Each tier of treasures adds an XP amount and a chance of increasing treasure Quality.
– Up to 5 treasures can be submitted at a time to the Hoard. Quality increase chances are maximized when submitting five treasures at once.
– Submitting treasures to hoards costs gold per treasure.
– As a Treasure Hoard level increases, so do the costs of submitting future treasures to the Hoard.
– Treasure Hoards and their effects are UNIQUE to each faction. Treasure Hoards for each faction will need to be raised.
Portals
– The primary currency of the Underworld is Chaos Shards.
– Chaos Shards are earned from Delve Chests from completing Delves in the Underworld.
– 20 Chaos Shards are needed to open a portal (think: opening a chest with a key)
– Portals reward Faction troops and treasures used to increase any faction’s Treasure Hoard.
– Overworld (Krystara) chest keys CANNOT be used to open Portals.
– Nor can Underworld troops be pulled from Overworld (Krystara) chests.
Delves
Delves are the Underworld equivalent to Overworld (Krystara) explores.
– Requires 1 Delve Scroll per attempt
– Players only receive 3 delve scrolls per day. This is a global total, and NOT per faction.
– There a number of rooms that can be cleared per delve. Most rooms are optional.
– Delves can be time consuming, if all rooms in a delve are cleared each run, especially at higher delve levels.
– Risk vs. reward for clearing optional rooms.
– Clearing a room grants an Effect to all remaining rooms in the delve.
– Delves are rated in 10-level increments.
– Clearing each 10-level increment increased the delve level by 10 levels.
– Player may only play one of three Delve levels:
1) Current highest delve level successfully cleared
2) Delve 10 levels lower that highest level cleared (at a -0.5x treasure multiplier penalty)
3) Attempt to clear the next 10 level tier higher (at a +1x treasure multiplier bonus)
– Clearing a higher tier delve sets that level delve as the new base level for future runs.
– It is NOT possible to play delves more than 10 levels before the current highest level cleared.
– Room Effects are cumulatively stackable.
– Many stacked room Effects can make the Boss room quite difficult to clear. (Risk v. Reward)
– Teams in delves are restricted to using at least one of the two colors of the faction’s banner.
– The hero is not color restricted.
– If a unit dies in a Room, it is lost for the rest of the delve.
– Summoned units can replace defeated units. They persist between Rooms.
– If the team’s order is changed by spell (i.e. Dust Devil), the changed order persists between Rooms.
– Surviving troops between rooms are restored to full health and armor.
– Enemy troops can be checked in mid-battle to see accumulated Effects from previous room clears.
– Clearing rooms increases treasure multiplier and offers a chance at an delve chest upgrade.
– The delve chest is rewarded either upon clearing the Boss room, Running Away, or losing a battle.
Renown
Renown is the Underworld equivalent to Kingdom Power in the Overworld (Krystara).
– Four factors:
– Total Max Renown per faction = 2500 points.
– Individual Faction Renown rewards include ingots, Chaos Shards, and Faction Pets.
– Renown is also measured cumulatively between ALL factions to earn permanent and stackable bonuses.
– Max Renown at launch will be 5000 points (2500 x 2)
– Max Renown cap increased by 2500 points for each new faction released.
Faction Events
– There will be a faction event one day each week, with new factions released on a weekend (just like Hero classes).
– Additional Delve Scrolls can be purchased from the Faction Event shop to go beyond the 3 per day limit during these events ONLY. (Think sigils in Raid/Invasion/etc.)
Misc.
– Tribute is now collectable from the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. This is collectable from both the Overworld (Krystara) and the Underworld menu bar when tribute is available.
– New map with particle effects are present on both map. Water effects are disable-able in the Settings menu.
– Clicking on the new main button in the middle of the menu toggles between the Overworld and the Underworld.
– On troop/weapon screens, there are new page up/down buttons.
– The hero screen is reached by clicking on the hero portrait in the upper left corner of the screen.
– Gold/Souls/XP bonuses are moved to the hero screen.
– Challenges can be Played Again.
– No plans to change the Hero class change 50 gem fee.
– Next feature set for the devs to focus upon for 4.1 are guild functions.
– Delve specific daily tasks will be in 4.0.
– 4.0 Update “maybe” scheduled somewhere around early next week. Give or take.
Curious to see if that play again feature on challenges works after completing the last difficulty.
Ok, I think that’s it. Or at least all I can remember from the stream and some holes plugged in where needed.
So we just need to play with faction troops once at level 50 or higher to get max points in this category? Does the number of faction troops affect the points?
And as always, thanks for the awesome recap
When a delve chest is rewarded, is there a penalty for losing a battle and getting it vs. running away and getting it?
Thank you @Lyrian for providing this synopsis. I had a power outage during the time of the stream and missed it.
You can play with any team you want in a delve (that meets the mana color requirements). Playing with the faction team does award additional renoun, but can make the delve significantly harder to clear.
Keep in mind that only the highest renoun score is kept by the game. So, clearing the same level delve with a faction team doesn’t award any additional renoun. Therefore, a player has to keep challenging harder and harder delves to increase their renoun.
No. There is no penalty for losing or running away. You get to keep the delve chest at the highest level you reached before losing or running away. As delve levels increase, losses are expected. So, it would be highly unfair to players to punish them for losing.
As that faction’s Treasure Hoard increases, so does the bonus stats granted to the delve team. The idea is that unlike Raids and Invasions, the player CAN earn enough bonus stats to clear delves that are level 200, 300 or higher that would be very difficult to impossible to clear normally.
The stream should be re-watchable on Twitch by now, if you want to re-watch it.
Thanks for your answer. Im still a bit confused. Say youre clearing level 50, does using 1 faction troop give the same points as using 4 faction troops? Or do we need full faction team for it to count?
So this Thursday night (Friday for the devs) got it thanks.
Fantastic job with the summary @Lyrian. Thank you.
All 4 troops have to be the faction’s troops.
Actually, because so many people showed up for the stream, Salty gave an extra stretch goal viewership for a release date “estimate”.
That goal was actually achieved (for once) in the final waning seconds of the stream, so Salty gave a close approximation of the release date. Next week’s stream previewing September’s Mythic is being moved up a day because the patch is targeted for (likely, subject to change) release early next week.
Sounds like a bunch of over complicated features. (Lyya: Edited for language)
Its so easy even a Caveman can do it
Thank you for the wonderful summary! Not having watched the stream, I didn’t really understand much about what I was reading, but I guess I would like to know how those Delve scrolls behave. We get three a day, so do they stack like sigils or do they reset daily like dungeons? What if we buy more for the event - can they only be used during the event or do those at least stack?
I’m still scared about the map… particles AND no black outlines… I’m not gonna be able to see a thing, huh?
@Lyrian is the MVP, no doubt.
You can’t stack your delve maps and they reset daily.
Just a quick heads up, I may have confused the numbers here, it’s actually 2 points per level of boss troop in the delve you completed (eg Delve Level 500 will give you 1000 points), or 1 point for faction and no death ones. Confusion with level of troop vs level as in floor of the Delve.

Yup. Fuzzy math in action. Correcting.
Also, please be aware that next week’s stream will be on Monday at 6 30 PM PDT. I will be previewing our upcoming mythic, Megavore!
