Crash at app startup is back

Platform, device version and operating system:
iOS 12.2, iPhone 7

Screenshot or image:
Could try recording video, but unsure how helpful it would be.

What you were expecting to happen, and what actually happened:
I expected the game to successfully reach the map screen when I pushed the icon from my phone’s home screen. I got the black splash screen, then the image of the Sunken Fleet (usual so far). However, instead of the “Loading Assets” bar, the game then crashed back to iOS’s home screen.

How often does this happen? When did it begin happening?
This has been happening since 3.3, at least.

Steps to make it happen again

  1. Use enough other apps that Gems is offloaded from memory and has to start up from scratch.
  2. Attempt to start Gems, either from the home screen or from the side-scrolling app selection menu (whose name escapes me right now).
  3. Pray the game starts normally.
  4. If step 3 didn’t work, you’ve reproduced the crash.

Attached crash reports
I reinstalled the game last night; it did not resolve the issue
Apologies for the flood of replies below this post. I could not figure out how to place the crash reports in a quote box; Discourse kept ignoring the “[quote]” markup.

I hadn’t seen it for a while, but it happened again 2 days ago. So, yeah…

I am resurfacing this thread, since Bug Report Tuesday came and went last week with no attention from Cyrup or Kafka. And the problem being reported has not abated.

Please be aware that it is currently Easter, and our support team is not in office. We will be with you as soon as we can when normal office hours resume.

In the meantime, have you tried re-downloading the app? (I’m sure you have, I just need to check.)

Yup, I have. And I also know it isn’t Tuesday yet. Just wanted this closer to the top so it isn’t missed a second week in a row. Enjoy your holiday!

Yeah, this has been chronic since the Unity update, whatever that was. It seems like I always have to try starting the app twice.

Try the Blockquote markup, if you still want it – a ‘>’ on each new line of the quote (without the 's).

‘> Blockquote’ becomes

Blockquote

‘> I am’
'>
‘> a Blockquote, flowing over many, many lines. Others have flowed over more lines than me, but these are my lines, and I am the Blockquote that flows over them.’ becomes

I am

a Blockquote, flowing over many, many lines. Others have flowed over more lines than me, but these are my lines, and I am the Blockquote that flows over them.

Not sure why the [quote] one didn’t work.

Sorry for the delayed reply we got snowed under by an unexpected amount of support requests there…

I’ve forwarded the crash reports to the Dev who solved the crash issue last time. I’ll follow up here when I have more info.

Unfortunately, this bug returned again a few weeks ago, and got noticeably worse with v4.3.5.
