They are making you have Shiny leveled troops? What? That is not easy to get for free to play. That could be a last straw for many.
You don’t have to get them. They are in the task track which grants Kingdom XP, but it is not a blocker to advancing in prestige levels the way that the current tasks are.
This is the way I’m reading it too. The ‘tell’ if you will was the comment about keeping all kingdoms in the same band. That’s what seems to be the driving factor for the math here.
The time before the update will be the last time (theoretically) to do things in an “unbalanced” manner without consequence.
So the options are to spend pre-update to avoid any population cap (and looking at you Mydnight) OR wait until post-conversion and have more total upgrade currency with potentially less of a say in where that currency goes due to the population limits.
Seems like the ones most dedicated to min/maxing are the ones getting squeezed the hardest and will 100% be the most vocal once this drops. I get it. The min/maxers are also the ones most susceptible to balance changes in literally any live service game as well. It comes with being on the (relative) bleeding edge.
I think for me, knowing the driving factor behind this update is balance, I’m going to try to get ahead of that and balance things as best I can today with the hope that I can put off the bite of the population gate a bit longer.
This definitely sounded like it could be a neat concept last week.
But after reading the execution, how leveling works, how the conversions work, etc, this might actually be much worse than even the most negatively paranoid speculations I read since parts of it were first spoiled. Well done, I’m impressed the devs’ consistency in poor updates.
How so? From my understanding the vast majority of people will have increased bonuses the moment the update drops, the ability to take stats, tribute chances and amounts, mana masteries, etc. higher than ever, plus new perks such as shiny dust bonuses. I’m curious why you feel this is even worse than the lowest expectations.
Will there be any achievements going in with this update? New achievements are the only thing keeping me, and likely quite a few other people, playing. Even if you can’t provide the detail of the achievements, a yes/no would be great! Thanks for all you do.
We’re told that Books of Deeds in Campaign rewards will be replaced with Rainbow Crystals. Will that be on a 1:1 basis?
Next week, Elite pass owners will get 2 Red books from campaign rewards. Is it better to collect these before the update?
If the replacement is 1:1, then I’d say yes. 2 red books convert to 32 red crystals worth 3200 xp for red kingdoms.
2 rainbow crystals would be worth 1200 xp for any kingdom.
So the question remains, is the book to rainbow crystal replacement 1:1?
Created a maths corner here, to discuss the update specifics separately: 9.2 Maths Corner - Community Content - Gems of War | Forums
Just want to highlight this, and ask for anyone else good at this stuff to check my maths isn’t wonky, but I think this is right:
EDIT: Since upgrading a kingdom level can increase a kingdom’s power level, the exact value judgement will depend on your personal progress. Each additional power level gives extra xp after 9.2 but that’s already being accounted for elsewhere. I don’t know whether you want to factor that in personally, when making the choice to upgrade or not.
Kingdom tasks reward Kingdom XP, it’s in the screenshots, it’s 300 XP
As mentioned somewhere else, nothing is changing further with the update releasing next week, and I have already shared feedback on shiny dust to the team.
I put a couple more screenshots into the resource changes section
they will be in the patch notes.
Again, can you share more on why you think you will be in a worse off Kingdom position?
Thank you. So 100 writs become 2 red crystals, and 2 red books of deeds become 1 rainbow crystal, which is not even 1:1, it’s 1 for 2. Definitely better to collect before the update then, since it’s 3200 red xp before vs just 600 any colour xp afterwards.
I am a bit worried. I spent a lot of time building up my kingdoms. Except for Mydnight and Vulpacea my kingdom power levels are all 26 and 27 except Leonis is 30. Will I see those power levels drop and will it impact my tribute right now I get circa 30 gems an hour and 650 glory. I really do not want to build back power levels. I also don’t want to see a drop in hourly gems.
Also is the class level increasing or being impacted? Thank you.
Dunno if this has been mentioned.
I bought campaign pass, for the books.
What is happening going forward, are they getting replaced. With equivelent value of new crystals.
