Except almost anyone can field goblins, so there’s your meta.
On offence the player has an easy time running it as it is fairly straight forward and what i would call auto play. On defence the ai already has such a team set-up in story mode so this is not big problem for it to run and win.
Can’t argue with that logic.

You actually assume wrong, 95% of the meta (that player base under level 200) is knight coronet, goblins, team/kingdom bonus. Yes team/kingdom bonus is a team composition. The team/kingdom bonus teas have some sort of team bonus or kingdom bonus or both which makes them harder to beat and makes the meta have way more variety.[/quote]
I think they need to make the team kingdom/bonus mechanic MORE pronounced, IMO.
At lower levels, it’s those extra bonuses that encourage team variety. I know I’m past 300 now, but I’m still wielding variations of my Whitehelm / Divine team because I love the synergies and they’re fun. I don’t even have Mab or Maw and I’m not really dying to get them either.
Honestly, I’d like to see some minuses when it comes to team composition. Put a divine Priestess on a team with the undead KoS? Go ahead but dock every member of the team 2 life.
This alone would help discourage OP builds like Maw / Mercy / IK, which from a role playing standpoint have no synergy whatsoever. Why would an angel be teaming with a demon?!?!?!
If they were to rework kingdoms to give more stats to team comps within that kingdom by simply leveling the kingdom in question then that would give the possibility of variety. Say i have 4 different troops of whitehelm as an example, and i got my kingdom to level 10, i would get a team bonus for that kingdom, a troop bonus for that kingdom, and for fielding a 1 kingdom, a kingdom bonus dependant on level of said kingdom. However to make it fair and not totally op, it should go by power level of the kingdom and not base level.
At high levels of play, the game is now focused around optimization. That means that, no matter what happens buff- or nerf-wise, top-end players playing against top-end players will face the meta, unceasingly. If it weren’t Mab/Maw, the complaints would be about another troop. If Maw is nerfed and defenses all become meaningless as @yonizaf has indicated (for the top 1%) then the complaint would be about the lack of challenge. The old PvP, for all its flaws, at least had diversity going for it. I think that ship has sailed, and the hardcore players, selecting the hardest matches, will be facing the same team with minor permutations for the foreseeable future.
I actually really like the idea of kingdom bonuses increasing team bonuses for the kingdom teams.
EXCEPT zaejin throws that whole thing off.
I would think that the whole kingdom bonus for using one kingdom should not apply to defence teams just because of zaejin.
so I wrong in the fact that they are not easy and hard? but you still see lots of them correct?
Easy on offence but sometimes hard and hard on defence.
I like that now the successful defenses gives you points, it makes more sense to determine who’s better… sure the AI is bad for everyone but a stronger team will win more on defense even when the AI throws you completely under the bus.
Now to fix the “whoever plays the most , gets better rank” dilemma…
I still don’t agree with power level determining how many PvP points u get or lose for a win/lost, I would suggest this:
Exemple of how it is now:
Me (6100 power, Rank 10K)
Player 1 (600 gold, rank 8K, Power 5000)
Player 2 (650 gold, rank 10K, Power 6000)
Player 3 (1500 gold, rank 4K, Power 7500)
Now what it should be:
Me (Rank 10K)
Player 1 (600 gold - Rank 10-20K+)
Player 2 (650 gold - Rank 5-10K)
Player 3 (1500 gold - Rank 1-5K)
Just determine the range for the rank to implement for player 1,2,3 based on MY RANK.
If we have a player that plays almost 24/7 AND is NOT the best team out there IT WILL LOSE ALOT ON DEFENSE and get pushed way down.
I’ve been playing a lot of arena this week & the arena is a lot more challenging and more varied than PVP.
I’ve been playing a lot of Treasure Hunt and I’m finding that more varied than PvP…
This made me audibly chuckle.
There is another solution though than binging out on treasure hunting.
Since most high ranked defenses are rather unsuccessful anyways aside from some lower levels that benefit from being attacked by equally low level teams, why not just ignore the meta, and install imaginative or stylish or whatever defense teams again?
I know people come on the forums read “Omg Maw too stronk!” “Double Mab is the new op shizzle man!” or they meet these teams in pvp and are annoyed by it and then they field these supposed op/annoying teams as defenses and it increases their defense win rate by… well marginally if at all.
The only thing this really accomplishes is that one can rest over the thought that all other players are as annoyed as they are when they meet these kind of teams, for your actual position on the leader board it does arguably nothing.
Sure Maw will net you a hunger proc defense win extra here and there, and Double Mab might annoy someone enough to make them lose occasionally while Bone Dragon will just be the usual dick he has always been.
But these teams won’t net you an amazing defense win ratio or enhance your board position in a really significant way.
So chill about it, don’t hype these teams up the way you tend to do, either by inflaming the forum or fielding these annoying defense teams yourself.
Have you seen @nimhains team? That deck is super good and strong against maw but only she can enlighten to what it is.
This makes a great deal of sense to me. The top defense win ratio for levels 800+ on the leaderboard was 36.17%. With that sort of low win rate, you might as well mix in a different, creative team from time to time.
I tried a different team yesterday:
Borealis, Venoxia, Sheggra, Queen Mab.
All level 20 and fully traited.
I lost 32 defense battles in a row.
Switched back to Maw this morning to stop the bleeding. Hopefully.
Cool, good plan… So I can do that, and the dozen high level players on the forum might do it… And the other hundred high level players that I get matched to invade that aren’t on the forum won’t do it… I’ve gained nothing except feeling I made life fractionally more interesting for my fellow player… Yay me… I still get mawdom though…
Be the change you wish to see in the world? Or something. shrug
