Yeah Cedric team is fine at 12. All you have to do is ensure you get Egg Thief full as soon as with red and green.
If I can give a tip, don’t try and level classes with it though. It will be harder - stick to a hero with stealth, light fingers, hunters marks. Thief is great of course and at 100, Rising Shafows can pop now and again.
You get 30 gold per turn with light fingers in this team, so by the time you have 2/3 turns and some 4 matches you refill Egg Thief every cast. If lucky, sooner.
Top Cedric dies to skulls, NP summon an egg or bandit. I generally do 3 shuffles between 2 Cedrics, then a Key and that’s often enough at 250/300 to kill 1 troop after a casual skull hit.
Then shuffle and shuffle even if they don’t charm, 2 shuffles and they become adjacent forever if 2 left.
If you can’t, just fill with summons, hatch dragons if need be. Take child of sky off if you want, prevents. Egg blocking. Dodge is ok.
Oh I agree. I feel like either broad-scale game design isn’t the team’s strong suit, or they’re being pressured so hard to churn out features they can’t think things through before release. Hoards would’ve been a great gold sink if they didn’t so obviously hit diminishing returns the moment you hit quality 10. I know they wanted Faction 500 to be long-term endgame content but I think they hit that bullseye a little too well.
I also think, thanks to potions, most people aren’t using it as a gold sink. What’s the point, if one devoted weekend is all it takes to get there? That’s not a solution for most people, but I also think most people aren’t ever going to sink the gold it’d take to do it without potions either.
So sure, I can see why they put another gold sink in, but it’s also odd because I think nobody was really complaining about gold as a currency. People worry a lot about souls, a little about glory, and a lot about specific ingots and deeds, but I think everyone felt gold was “kind of useless but at least it isn’t broken and LTs are nice”. So it’s a shame that to address the problems with other currencies, the devs decided to go ahead and create a real sink for the one resource I felt was well-balanced.
I have read this post for days. Stewed over what I want to say. So many here have already voiced all the opinions I hold.
This change is a game killer.
It will kill GW, the least popular weekly event, the one with the smallest gem grab. Leaving a new gem grab to be born in it’s place.
It will kill independent guilds. You will get a player trained and then he will either bail because the grind is too much, or move on to a guild with the ability to get to LT’s. Once there, he will get burned out, trying to grind his gold requirements.
It will kill the new player base who are already overwhelmed with all the crap to learn and to do in this game. He will leave for a fun game that doesn’t feel like a job.
It will kill the community. We will become the “haves” and the “have nots.” The beauty of the game was with just a bit more grind time a player could get equal to those who have money or time invested. The end player could take the time to teach the newer ones, but that will no longer happen.
What it won’t do is force me to open my wallet.
What it won’t do is make me want to stay and play.
This is a game killer.
I’ve seen many players start leaving in masse. I know of a few guilds that are having to lower reqs drastically just to keep people. Things such as reqs only matter during the weeks Mythics are released. I don’t know how much money the game is making by increasing the grind requirement but I hope it’s more profitable than the losses of when people leave.
Hey these epic guild tasks sound like a great idea, I’m really looking forward to it!
… said nobody, ever.
Did I miss a message or are all 388 replies strongly, vehemenly negative?
What guild was asking for the ability to pay 5.2 million gold for Colored Pet Food?
Maybe it’s time to point out the elephant in the room everybody is avoiding to mention. There’s a far more efficient way to spend excess gold, Gold Chests. Those provide an infinite income of Glory and Gems, for the price of one Legendary Tasks you get on average 2k Glory and 50 Gems. You, nobody else in your guild. And that’s a problem.
With currently revealed “rewards” there is no point donating anything past minimum requirements into Epic Tasks if you can’t reach Legendary Tasks. There is no point in teamwork, because that only gets the guild some junk next to no member needs. You, as a member, benefit far more by donating as little as possible, sinking as much as possible into Gold Chests. I can only guess the devs found the overall mood in the game to be too friendly and wanted to seriously crank up dissent between players.
I wonder if we’ll see any nerf to Gold Chests, as a panic reaction to contain collateral damage.
I don’t think that’s the idea.
They are limiting keys generation so players would be required to spend gems for chests on a mythic weeks, so you can no longer save up gems as a f2p unless you are in top 10 guilds, basically.
Lowering the ammount of keys that players can get, when keys are essensial in a CCG (card collecting game) as the card pool has increased from 300 to 700+ now instead of increasing our keys or leaving it the same as it’s become more difficult to get cards already with a larger card pool.
Higher gold cost, for lesser rewards. They should lower the cost dramatically for both or make ET’s optional so the few guilds that do get LT’s can still get them.
I won’t be surprised if people start posting reviews calling this game P2W if this rolls out as is.
I’d disagree with this claim. What the change does is,
– Prevents guild from “carrying” members’ account development via LTs (other players in guild buying keys for them via LTs)
In turn, this return the change is going to force for all players (not just F2Ps), to play the kingdom star game to earn gems, which means:
– Forcing players to login more often to collect tribute to fund game activities/chest opening.
– Forcing players to have to manually overcome each of the progression walls that have been put into the game by themselves, which will require increased gem spending (such as the mythic unit wall at Power 10, mythic pet at 14, delve pet at 17, and so on)
Progression without being a whale can still be achieved, but it’s going to be a lot harder going forward. For newer accounts though, Gaard help them all.
Aha I get the strategy now if players are leaving:
Plan a very unpopular change.
Announce it well in advance so players who can leave do so.
When it releases, the players remaining have decided they are stuck enough to put up with it.
When the mothership views the metrics they say, “Wow, this new Elite Task system has players excited, it put a stop to that weird downward trend in daily logins!”
I agree with @Lyrian
So say we all. Gaard save their souls.
The difference is trying to force players to play more (like a 2nd job, 40hrs a week)
rather than making the game more fun (not a job) so we sink more hours into the game,
and if we are enjoying it then we’ll recommend the game to others.
Since it does not help players grow but rather hinders them, the player base doesn’t grow fast.
Then they can’t implement the cosmetics because the player base is low, rather than swim in money.
People are open to the idea of opening their wallets, but for the right reasons.
I think I can speak for most of the player base and state that playing this game for 40 hours a week just to maintain current levels will not be fun and I won’t do it. I play this game on Steam, Amazon and Android, if this change goes through as announced with pretty much 100% negative player feedback then they can assume that I will leave 100% negative feedback with reviews on the platforms I play on and will describe my opinion on where this game is going and why.
I just hope that whoever is making these decisions comes to their senses, retires and the company hires someone who has a clue in their absence so that the game can start to improve again.
I’m in a Top 20 guild and we’ve lost TWO players this week that have moved on to more “active” guilds. We complete around 20+ Legendary Tasks per week. Yes, a top 20 guild, and we’ve lost players at the same time as 4.7 is announced (and it’s being discussed HEAVILY on discord) due to them wanting more active guilds.
Thanks Devs. Your plan is awful and you should feel bad.
This. My play time has dropped dramatically since the “misadventure board” went live. The birthing of the concept that “you must play at least 25 matches a day to keep up” (via Gems being tied to the board) was a huge step towards the mentality that GoW should be your primary game.
I play a lot of games, and most of them are now more satisfying than GoW. If you want me to sink 40 hours a week, give me compelling content. FOMO is not “content”.
My guild found 8 mythics this year in the 25-30LT’s that we do each week. How are the rewards from the new epic tasks supposed to replace this value? As a GM of a rank 60 guild, what am I supposed to say to my guild to keep them leaving my guild to seek these resources elsewhere? Why must GM’s now do more guild management each week to balance this unwanted change? Did the development team consider the stress this would cause GMs and guilds at my guilds lvl making this change? Are any of these concerns being heard by the devs and will they consider making any changes if these concerns turns out to be true?
