[Reported] Pvp league promotion

I wondered that. Tested it the other week and it didn’t work (deliberately got up to rank 2, then let myself drop to rank 5 or 6. Think it said I finished rank 4 or something), so don’t think it works that way.

Haven’t the developers told us that the game generates a unique bracket for every individual player? Which would mean that the “average” player would be part of ~30 brackets?

Could it be that… the game grants you rewards based on your best individual bracket ranking, whether it’s “your” bracket or somebody else’s?

This is fixed in 7.4, yell out if you still have issues on Monday weekly reset.

This is a long post so forgive me if we’ve already shared this information:

Basically the issue was caused because the league rank wasn’t displaying accurately.
The fix makes it so that you have to play a battle in order to show up on the league board and from there it will then display your actual rank. So what you see and the expected demotion/promotions will match now.

Thanks for the info Kafka. Does this mean we’re in only one bubble now? Since we only get the rewards we see?

The league bubbles are still asynchronous, it just displays your place accurately in your own bubble now.

I think I’m still confused on this one. Were the ranks in our own bubbles not showing accurately?

As far as I can remember, no one was out-of-order in terms of Victory Points – everyone that we could see in our own bubbles had the correct rank according to their VP.

I guess we’ll see what happens come reset  :face_with_spiral_eyes:

That’s right, players in your own bubble were not displayed correctly, which made it look like you should have been promoted/demoted/stayed put when the actual results were different from what you could see.

Relegation and Rewards are based on actual results, not on the display.

With the fix the display will now show accurately.

Ah okay, ty!

So I think I’m understanding that the results of other players as shown in our bubbles were not reflective of their actual results/scores (i.e. Victory Points), for whatever reason. They were still in the correct order based on the VP scores that were showing, but those VP scores weren’t true or accurate.

The fix is making other players’ true VP scores show correctly within our bubble. We should be promoted/relegated/rewarded accurately based on what we see, moving forwards.

Maybe a follow-up question would be, how are we matched with players within our League each week? Is it randomly selected from all qualifying players?

I’m curious if I’m understanding what’s going on correctly. If we really are in several ‘secret’ brackets, each counting towards our results at the end of the week … doesn’t that mean that the chances that the other people we see in our visible bracket see us back are pretty small?

In other words, if I see that I’m in first in my visible bracket, just ahead of GemSmasherXYZ by a few points… then they probably don’t actually see that I am, do they?

I know I got first-in-bracket rewards every week so far since brackets, even when I wasn’t first in my visible bracket. Is this going to change with 7.4? Did they ‘fix’ this? Not that I mind getting an unexpected 120 gold marks in the mail Monday morning! Just curious

Yep, that was always the explicit design. It makes it a little less competitive (read: easier) but more confusing.

Do we have a sense of an ‘average’ first prize score to aim for? Like, if I have a monster in my visible bracket with over 100k, I’m not going to grind and grind to beat them. But I might aim for 40 or 50k whatever my visible rank is to try to have a good chance of getting first in *some bracket

Some kind of forecast to tell us our placement would be nice.

100k? That might qualify for 2nd or 3rd every few weeks. But not 1st in Diamond League. :joy::face_holding_back_tears:

I lucked out with 35k being a hidden 2nd, but I am just under 1500. It’s going to at least double with Blood Frenzy. Not sure if these brackets are taking levels into account. Is anyone collecting data on this?

Am I misunderstanding how the system is meant to work originally and how it’s supposed to work now after the fix? I just want to confirm for my own understanding.

I thought your rewards are only based on the bubble you see in game.
The bug was that game didn’t correctly display your actual ranking within your bubble.

You being able to get rewarded by your best ranking in other people’s bubbles was only speculation about what the bug was before Kafka clarified.

Not fully fixed. I was ranked 27th in diamond league last week. Still in diamond this week.

Was in relegation zone for sure

But still in diamond

Yep, either not fixed or I don’t understand how this works.

I was 10th in my bubble or something, and got rewarded for 3rd. No complaints about the unexpected reward but if I had known I was actually close to the top, I’d have played differently.

That’s what I understand, now, hoping it’s correct/waiting for confirmation.

I believe we should display correctly in our bubbles starting from this week onwards, so last week we were still displaying incorrectly and received rewards that didn’t quite match what we saw.

2 weeks since the supposed fix, and 2 weeks in a row that I should have been relegated from my Diamond league. Once again an abject attempt to fix content that was in no way tested properly before release.

Congratulations on ruining yet another game mode. The 1 match I played to validate my league position is all I can stomach of this bug filled mess these days.
