In my eyes it’s got backfire written all over it.
4,000 to get epic to mythic (bought tier 4 so 1 from shop)
5,600 to get legendary to mythic
6,600 to get rare to mythic
7,400 to get ultra rare to mythic
needed 5 dementicores to max them after the rare and got them all in one pull!!
So I ended up making 1.5M gold getting to lv500. A slight profit. I made much more after this with my extra sigils. I guess my point is that delves are not the gold-sink many claim them to be. If you spend all your shards that you make each month on the new delve and then spend only the high quality treasures you get then you will actually come out in front goldwise.
If you spend just enough shards to max new troops and use lower lv treasures then yes, each new delve will probably cost you millions of gold.
I realize I’m speaking as an endgamer here who doesn’t need to spend shards on any other factions than the new one.
You spent gems instead of gold.
It’s still a gold sink outside of Faction Assaults.
A gem sink during Faction Assaults.
No. The gems I spent has nothing to do with what treasures I used taking hoard to 200.
No. I would have made just as much gold in an event or using daily scrolls.
This is for sure true if you want 2500 points.
Hoard Quality 100 (or 200 in your specific case) + potions = success.
Hoard Quality 100 (or 200 in your specific case) without Potions = Failure for Lyraszas lair. (For most)
It becomes a gold sink when people have to get a faction hoard quality to 200+ even if you use nothing but Sacred Treasures (which most players don’t have a surplus of) it still adds up over time.
So take however many tiers it took to get to 2500. Add up the magic number… And then translate how much the hoard quality would have to be to match those power potions.
And then (hopefully) you’ll see why it’s designed to be… And why people claim it to be…a gold sink.
@Fleg already showed that he made more gold from the event than he put into the Hoard.
In addition, if 40k renown is 1200g per day, then the 2500 renown from completing this faction will earn an additional 75g per day. That’s Pure Profit.
I’ll wait until the next faction comes out to verify, but now that I know what treasures will get me to 200, I’d wager that using the GL and KC before the ST will come in lower than 1,379,000. Unless Fleg calculated that out beforehand on Timeknight’s spreadsheet. Then, disregard this portion of my comment. Still, 1.38 Million seems reasonable to me.
But I shall use whatever extra shards I have on this faction, and then delight as I escort these troops to the Soul Farm. Scratch that. I’ll use the shards on those Lapinas from the Warrens. And the next time, on the Harpies. Muahaha.
My main point in earlier post is that you can make 1.5M gold taking a delve to lv500 and that you can take your hoard to 200 for less than that spending only the shards made in a month.
Make of that what you will.
I did indeed spend the ST’s last. Also worth noting that I do my 3 daily scrolls everyday and tuesday factions tier 3 and finish the new delve during the delve event. This is how I earned so many shards. (There are other sources of shards too.) So in order to have so many shards to spend (to save gold) requires quite a time investment. So there’s that too. But it is possible.
I had 28k shards. If someone had say only 20k maybe it would cost (only guessing here) 2M gold to get to hoard 200. I think this delve was pretty stingy though, I barely saw any treasure rooms so maybe 1.5M is at the lower end of what we can make from a delve. Will have to see with future ones.
I absolutely do not believe you redressed your pre event resources doing the new faction. You didn’t get your gold back full stop.
I’m currently at level 300 in Lyrasza’s Lair and I’ve earned 1.1M so far, so 1.5M seems like a fair estimate for full completion. I earned around 1.7M in the Werewoods Event.
Some of the gold is from other sources (tributes, adventure board and daily delves) but I’m on to track to earn back most of the gold I spent on upgrading my Hoard. I had to spend 1.54M since I didn’t have as many Sacred Treasures.
I usually get 1.5-2m depending on if I use the extra sigils after 500 and how many runs I full clear. I spent about 3m this time using chalices and crowns early, then bringing hoard to 200. You can definitely break even if you don’t go nuts raising the hoard.
Pros: open floor plan. That is really cool.
Cons: possibly maliciously designed troops.
Either that or dangerously (in regards to the stability and profitability of the game) ignorant.
I can do this all day.
Well, the best way I can put this is these troops have zero creativity. The troll is ironically or purposely the best troop. The others in their current state are random grab bags of effects in overpriced packages that continue to test our collective patience.
The hound can make skulls, doomskulls or summon. The skulls generated are too small to reliably count on not giving an opponent a good board even without the 3 in 4 chance to do nothing (final number after streaking factor).
Dementicore, is the best with a targeting spell, but manticore still is better. It guarantees the mana drain and attack gain, but stuns removing pesky mana drain immunity (until the monk comes out). Terrible in delve as you always get the effect you do not need. Spell ready to cast? Steal more zero attack! Troop has no mana, better drain that rather than the attack.
Legendary is useless, 3 mediocre abilities on an over costed spell. While it couldn’t be the damage and one of 2 board control abilities at random due to power creep, reverse powercreep is also stupid in a time restricted event. Dual storms are not good as a single color storm is trying to make a color team work (or skull team).
I am seriously questioning the QA and design team here. The best constructive criticism I can give is to try and stop destroying the foundation of competence and talent with bad designs and obvious attempts to squeeze out money from the players in methods such as these.
For crying out loud, what if each troop would do all 3 or at least 2 of the 3 potential effects if there were 13 blue and 13 purple gems? That would make the troll better, the madness storm make more sense, the rng at least be ever so slightly more tolerated, and troops too niche to be overpowered defense troops.
The worst part is I have gradually become so annoyed with delves that I don’t even want to go the daily delves as they are not worth the time or frustration. Barely a half dozen can be seen as doable without excessive frustration. Every other faction gives at least one troop that is useable elsewhere despite the guaranteed wasted trait slot, but I would like better design in factions.
Perfect example from the first one, Hall of Guardians, an epic room providing thick head renders arcane golem useless. This makes the boss room harder and longer which is an obvious design flaw. If you want to do a full faction run, you either don’t include him, or have to reset it because rng. Yea, I can try again tomorrow, but it shouldn’t be an issue in the first place.
Faction troops are regressing, instead of progressing.
So basically 5 months ago the designers saw the complaints of having to rely on RNG (treasure room) to get City of Thieves to 2500.
And because they are contractors who don’t give a damn if the game succeeds or not long term.
They decided to troll the player base by making troops designed entirely on RNG.
… Thanks for ruining a game that used to be great on a semi monthly basis. You all should feel really good about yourselves.
I find it rather humorous that there is a Mythic Deeds of Air task today, seconds after the new faction has ended.
I only went to floor 180 with my tier VI because of other time commitments. Considering the faction in question, I don’t really find that I mind. Might be my last tier VI.
Yes, some factions look like the devs want us to fight not only enemies, but our own teams as well. It could be funny, but… It’s not funny really. City of Thieves, Lyrasza’s Lair, what’s next?..
