How to reach out as whistleblower?

Thanks so much for sharing this. It is super helpful. I was just randomly thinking last vault weekend that using hotkeys on the keyboard would be super helpful. It would not have occurred to me that that would be considered cheating - although I can see it now in context. Good thing I was too lazy to actually go and do it

I don’t like people who whistle.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have one concern on the auto-cheat detection front.

I play on PS4 and own a turbo controller than I use for other games. It’s not programmable, but is capable of pressing a button very quickly at a set interval.

I don’t use it for this game - there’s never a time when you’d want to press X repeatedly - but I worry about grabbing the wrong controller and setting off the cheat detection by mistake. If 3rd party controllers are completely hard banned and are detectable, I’d hope that there’s some manual review in place.

This isn’t explicitly covered by the list Kafka posted, and I could see it going either way.

Which controller is this, do you have a link?

It’s just a cheap 3rd party controller, it was like 30 usd on Amazon. I wouldn’t actually recommend the one I have - you have to physically hold the button down to use turbo, and again, not programmable.

Edit: Messaged you.

What is it called? Thanks!

If you write a ticket and you don’t want one of the CX team to answer it my Manager will answer it.

I really think this will suffice, but if you really want me to open my DMs on here I will, but I’m not sure I’m the person you want to talk to about it either. I’d really much prefer a ticket as it sounds like whatever you want to talk about might be something I discuss with my manager afterwards regardless.

If you feel like it might upset staff or feel insulting, maybe, I don’t know what it is you’re going to write, but we literally have players threatening us IRL on the regular so whatever you’re going to write is probably just par for the course for a Friday. I don’t think you’re going to try to be insulting or to upset anyone, so whatever you’re going to write is probably going to be far less bad to read than whatever else we’ve dealt with this week.

We’re also fully aware of communication issues - I’ve been doing this for a very long time. I will say things aren’t always as simple as they seem from the outside looking in. They should be sure, but that’s just not how things work as I’m sure you know.

Yes for sure!

If you don’t use the auto click feature then you can safely use the controller without worrying about it triggering hack detection.

Yes; I very often do.

(Best way to play Vault weekends!)

Sickening. Thanks for all you guys do

I’m pretty sure the ticket would end up in the pile of incoming things someone should eventually look at, because it doesn’t strictly fall into any category. Until it either gets closed in a few weeks with a canned reply or left open forever once it gets too awkward to reply.

Quite the contrary, I think you might be a good person to talk to about this. How about you open your DMs (and weed out your inbox, it’s probably too full to receive anything), I send you a somewhat long mail and if you then still think it’s something that calls for a ticket, I’ll open one and send you the number?

No worries, I’m actually having some hopes you’ll find it helpful.

That just made me really sad.

This kind of thing makes me glad I’m getting old. The world is going mad. It’s one thing to complain or disagree, but how anyone could feel justified to threaten someone (over a GAME, no less!) is just beyond me. I’m so sorry that you and the rest of the team have to deal with any of that.

I have no idea what ‘world’ you live in, random computer user, and I certainly want no part of it. Where I am, we actually enjoy life, and enjoy each other as well as the world around us. Players threatening devs and unhappy, negative atmospheres can stay on the web (not only this forum) and keep rotting. Life, REAL LIFE, is too short, and mine is valuable, as are my friends and family. No game is worth the drama.

I like GoW, and I absolutely support it, but seeing what I’ve seen from users on this forum makes me glad I treat it as nothing more than a mobile app. No guild, no internet friends; just a 3-match with lots of dragons.

No dev/mod/anyone should be threatened by some life-fail computer user with obvious mental/social issues. That’s the one thing I agree with, and the one thing that keeps this internet thing nothing more than… internet

Also, welcome to the community.

Kafka? I’ve tried sending you a DM, your inbox still seems to be in denial phase though.

Just saw this, going to go open my DMs now, just give me like 5 mins

Also sorry, reading back over my post on friday it was a bit dark I guess - let’s blame it on end of week brain. I forget sometimes that it’s not really common knowledge what sort of stuff we deal with all the time and I wasn’t trying to draw attention to it, just being like, out of all the people I hear criticism from Four wouldn’t be a bad one as I know he’s usually pretty respectful and reasonable to talk with
