Il only point out one thing, your right, the attackers and defenders as choices are wildly different, you mention that, it’s valid.
But and it’s a big but, exactly the same for your opponents, that’s my main point, I try to get across.
Whatever you fight or use , so do they.
All guilds, have different level players, different troop configurations, different amounts of troops.
So it can’t be a point, that you can really use in an argument, as there’s higher and lower than you, in opponent guilds. Anyways. Good debate. Let’s hope we all get a happy median
From what I understand, Steam metrics do seem pretty reliable, though I’m no expert. GoW has certainly been diminishing on Steam for quite some time. Hard to tell how that translates to mobile (which I would assume is the vast majority of the player base) and consoles.
Side note - I still don’t understand how people play this game using a controller More power to you!
And that’s why GWs is a hell of a lot more fun than PvP.
Same opponents over the 3 choices, let’s see the 4 central regions, Stella, khafru, Chrys, if I ate cornflakes, I’d be scared of falling asleep with my head in them . PvP is a chore.
GWs is fun and very different each time.
Agreed. You’re making good points too. Totally agree that we have the same sets of restrictions, and that’s fair. I’m just arguing against the set-ups of the restrictions.
Which matters for the score. Which is only half the target. The other half is wins, which doesn’t care about what the other team does - they can win 5 or lose 5 and it doesn’t affect how well you do, only the restrictions you go against does.
Again, that only counts for score. Score is based on the guild you’re against. Wins is based on the restrictions. That’s my point.
A main thing you said is the attack defence differences.
Let’s say I’m a level 1200 or lower, I go to central regions in PvP, I haven’t got Chrys or Stella or 3 khafru .then in all 3 choices there they are, those beautiful but boring as hell meta troops. Sorry but if I didn’t want, gold marks, books or immortals, then PvP would join arena and treasure hunt. In the boring bin.
Agreed, as well. But then look at the defense teams in guild wars. Firstly, the palace will have much the same teams, because the restrictions are wider. And in regions with naga, good luck finding a team without 2 takshaka. There’s more variety between locations, but not within a location. Over the years, you’ll find you’re going up against the same teams in the same locations, much of the time. It’s just because most people are doing PvP daily and guild wars monthly, that it feels more varied.
I find it way easier for games like this. An RTS or something, I want a keyboard and mouse, but controllers are better for other games and I find them better for match-3 gameplay. Your milage may vary, and fair enough, more power to you for what you enjoy using.
There’s at least a few that come to mind that Gems of War would love to have player counts of even when those other games are/were at the lowest.
Numbers aside. The fact that they refuse to spend money on working notifications is my biggest red flag. They “parted ways” almost a year ago with the notifications company that worked more often than not. Since then they just claim it is bugged and when I asked other players in a poll if they cared about notifications the current community manager deleted my post. That’s extremely sus to me.
Touch screens may be faster, but controllers are more accurate than mouse/touch input. Besides, you can go whole matches without making matches, with some teams, and controllers are faster for inputting fixed commands than moving to set areas and clicking on them.
Eh… it depends how you play, basically. I think controllers are better, so I use them… or I use them, so I think they’re better. Hard to tell.
Late to the party on all the data points being shared.
Few things– 1) the GW experience varies greatly from top to bottom and across platforms. I could go 5/0 with my eyes closed at some levels and struggle mightily to reach 3/2 at the toughest. On average, there’s more than 2x as many options for defenders (via troop type and ignoring the Palace for this as it’s worse) than there are for the attackers. Power levels were never balanced around kingdoms or troop types. They were balanced around rarity. Combine all that and it’s a recipe for a real bad time.
The dialog around records not really mattering is only partially true. There’s an entire reward track based on total wins. Now we can argue about the relative worth of those rewards but it’s there.
As for the Steam numbers– Steam numbers will be perfectly comparable to other Steam numbers. Comparing Steam numbers to guild counts or literally anything else is going to lead to conclusions that don’t make sense. If you want it to make sense, let’s say X% of all players were on Steam. And over time, that X% still represents the same percentage of players. The Steam dip would suggest that all other platforms are likely shedding players at a similar rate.
I’d also very safely guess that mobile players account for more than Steam and all consoles combined but it’s not out of the question to suggest that Steam vs. Steam disparities are a sign.
The few times I’ve looked at the Galaxy Hub for Gems of War when discussions like this have come up, the player count has also been decreasing. I don’t recall looking at it after PvP alliances were released, so there may have been a similar increase to what we’ve seen on Steam.
Naturally this only accounts for Samsung Galaxy players.
I didn’t know Samsung had charts like that, and I’ve never seen anyone share actual GoW mobile stats, so thanks for this gem! Interesting to compare the numbers.
Stuff like this is soooooo fun. Also got flower dragon at the end. I went 5-0 but had to carefully loop every battle after 1 and it took newe 20 minutes. 0-10 game mode. Delete it and try agian devs
