Hero Class update hits consoles, bringing new content and plenty of bug fixes

I would happily forego the new daily tasks and be the same as the PC players… be great to have their perks.

There is literally no reason to do the 20 wins with a restricted team just for some gems. I did the top task today then signed out, already worrying signs about how these changes affect the games appeal. Doubt id even play anymore except I am in a guild and have to meet their min requirement.

o trophies for this update? weak.

So a few things I’ve noticed so far:

  1. Instead of tasks that cycle as they’re completed, we now get at most 4 static tasks a day to possibly complete, with the task objectives now adjusted in a major way (example: from Use 4 Treasure Maps = 100 Glory to Use 10 Treasure Maps = 10 Gems). From the looks of it on my end, I’m now seeing a shift more towards gem rewards than other things. It remains to be seen whether other rewards are as plentiful (glory, keys, etc).

  2. Three of my current tasks haven’t been begun, and they’re showing a -1 in the progress counter. My girlfriend began some of the new quests and confirmed that completing a -1 task the first time takes you to 0.

  3. We still don’t know how certain troops have been changed/adjusted to even know whether a ‘refund’ is worthwhile. I hope the community gets clarification before the two week time window has elapsed.

  4. Treasure maps now have half the turns, with traitstone rewards every 15 moves. However, it would be interesting to know whether Arcane and Celestial Traitstones have a chance to drop here too, given that avenues for getting glory (and subsequently purchasing Arcane Traitstones) seem diminished.

  5. At this point, I still haven’t seen the DLC armor in the store or on the PS Store, but I’m assuming that it’s only available via real money. IF this armor turns out to be stronger than anything else in the game and it’s only available via real money, it’s going to be disappointing and probably a sign for me to move along.

All that said, I’ve not looked into the Hero Classes yet, and the map changes look good. For those of you who love this game and don’t find the above observations problematic, all the best to you in your purchases and future time with the game. The core feeling that I’m taking away from what I’ve seen/experienced so far with this update is that the game is now being rebalanced in a way that diminishes the rewards for those who previously spent more time with it, while subtly pushing players more in the paid content direction. Some will not have a problem with this, and that’s completely okay. As for myself, I would have been happy to pay money at the outset for the total game, but I’m generally not a huge fan of the ‘freemium’ model of play. This update seems to sharpen that ‘freemium’ impression even more.

That said, I’m honestly not sure how much more time I’ll invest in the experience. I do have a recommendation though–if the devs will consider a future option where players can gift their unused traitstones/keys to fellow guildmates, that could both be a beneficial thing for those still interested in playing the game, as well as perhaps providing a sort of metric on the developer’s end to gauge the long term effects of such changes (though I’m guessing they can look at the active player counts to draw that same conclusion). Long story short, even if players decided to move on to other experiences, those who love this game could still benefit even with other players’ departures.

Tasks were really exploitable before the last two patches. I could get several level a troop to ten or 15 a day because the kill 8 troops with hero weapons really meant just win two battles, the win 7 arena matches could be done with 7 pvp wins. Only the 20 invasion wins stopped things.
But now it’s hardly worth it unless you accidentally complete tasks, I’m not doing 20 whitehelm teams wins for 5 or 10 gems.

The key to good loot is join an active guild were everyone contributes ~50k gold a week. You can earn 100 gems and 120 glory keys a day through team effort.

Everything in this update is good

Troops balance, hero classes, new kingdoms,…

The only total disappointment is the new tasks system, it needs to be rethink, it not worth it. Until its done, you better pvp and invest gold in guild tasks.

Would love to but the guild task is bugged.

LOL. Yep forgot to mention that.
So best for now, save gold. Rofl

Hey guys,

PLaying on XB1. New update seems interesting, but very very grindy. Not sure I like that. Anyway having an issue with hero classes. I have played and won about 20 games with my (hero and without) and my necromancer level still shows 0 wins… how am I supposed to do this/ I’ve tried challanges, quests and pvp and nothing is updating. :frowning:

I think when they went with the traitstones this game became very much a pay-to-win. I have level 16-18 dragons and they have at most like 12-14 health and armor and yet I am facing goblins at the same level with all their traits and health in the 20-30 range - and that’s low. It seems way more rigged now than ever before and grinding hero levels now too just seems like this has gone from a game it was fun to sink 10-15 minutes a day into to a game its not worth loading. :frowning: I don’t begrudge them trying to make money, but this is the wrong way to encourage casual players to spend anything on it.

You have to “Change” to the Hero Class even though it is the first one you’ve unlocked. It makes no sense I know. After that the stats should update properly.

I used to like Treasure maps, now I it’s much less so. I didn’t mind the time it took, because I’d go back and forth between them and Arena to avoid getting beaten by the same freaking team. I think the rewards have been adjusted to the stated 20% value, but I miss the getting to the ton of extra turns.
Arena, speaking of, no longer uses traited troops, but does use ascended. Still running into Fortresses with 3 attack. No bother, what really made me think “odd” was every hero was using the weapon I chose. All eight of them.
On to hero classes! Now this is cool, I can trait my under powered hero. I had used my refunds (from troops I only traited for the Arena, and didn’t normally give a crap about), got some nice traits going on the things I use! But after I applied my hero’s class, I wasn’t leveling. I used the right color weapon, and won 4 battles in another class city, and nothing stuck. 4 battles, but no credit for them in the hero screen. So, should I file a ticket?
I miss the glory as a reward, as well. Yesterday, I had the “use 4 maps” and I was on 3. Sigh… My husband’s account could really use some of that glory stuff. All in all, just about a confusing update as the first time (I was a week old n00b then.)

you make 20% more rewards but lose 7 starting turns and every 15 turns you get a random trait stone.

@evilbatwitch

You have to select “Change” to ‘equip’ your Class

I want to start off by talking about what I love about the update. I’m thrilled to see the treasure map changes and the hero classes come our way. I played more maps last night than I have in a long time, and it was fun! Also, a big thanks to your team for cracking the team lag glitch. I was SO relieved to be able to freely change between parties lag free for the first time in…well, as long as I can remember. From the sound of things, it was a hard one to solve, so thanks for that. It makes my quality of play so much nicer.

I know there’s a lot of complaints about the task, and I’m sorry, but I have to speak up too. I’m very disappointed in the changes to the task system. Let’s face it it, I can’t do as many, they take more time to complete, and I feel the rewards don’t reflect the effort required. I realize that tasks are for all players at all stages of the game, but personally, I’m not motivated to go out of my way to build a team of constructs for 20 battles to earn 5 gems.

And that’s okay! I can, and will, still play the many ways to play the game that I always have. In all likelihood, I’ll probably leave those tasks I don’t like to sit there, uncompleted. It’s just a shame, because I enjoyed the task element the game provided. I did at least complete one task yesterday. My top line task was “Change your armor”. 1 glory key. Locked out for the rest of the day. Really? Honestly, why isn’t that just a one shot tutorial task? Yes, it was an effortless reward, but I thought these were supposed to be hurdles of at least some degree.

Maybe I was spoiled with the way it was, or maybe the rewards were ballooning more than you guys had originally intended. I can accept that. I just think the changes are very drastic.

Overall, I’m very pleased with what you guys are doing, and I’ll still be playing! Looking forward to future patches.

*Disclaimer: I don’t need anyone to tell me that I should be grateful that we even have tasks, and that mobile players don’t even have that luxury. Tasks have been a cornerstone of our version of the game for a long time, and I believe I’m entitled to my opinion on them when that game element is changed.

Signed up just to say how much I HATE this new “update”

I mean the gold/glory chest thing annoyed me enough w/ how grindy it is to get decent troops now, thankful I had a BUNCH from when I thought i had 100%;d the game but it’s still been nigh impossilbe to get enough to rank up my legendaries.

But this new limit daily quest thing omg wow. Just wow. And i didn’t notice but the near impossible 2 vaults in 15 turns acheevo is just done now cause it’s what 8 turns now?

2 Vaults in 1 Map isn’t impossible.

Thanks. I thought I had done that, but now I guess it makes sense. All set now.

@killerman3333. i was getting about 1.5K gold per map, and that’s what i’m now getting. but i do miss those 7 turns. The most turns i’ve done so far is 67, which was nice for the traits. It made light work out of getting those “match 100 5 matches” task. it took 2-3 maps instead of 1-2 for the 50 matches:(

I could have sworn i did that, it was the only one i had…

It’s happening to everyone, had to tell half a dozen players already. I would have done it too, but read about it with Xbox before I got the update on PS4
