This is why I am here. I know it will be different but was curious about speculation. Integration with the new PvP seems likely. That will probably mean that people can just use their credit cards to buy stars for GW Talismans. This will make ‘GW optional guilds’ very popular. Heartbreaking.
How many Epic Vault Keys do you think it would take to make 4500 gems from Cedric drops? I don’t think it’s that out of proportion. It would certainly be a boon to those not in top guilds though.
I could go for that, as long as it’s proportional to the gems we currently get, or better. 60 gold marks instead of 1500 gems for 1st since you can buy 30 deeds with that… 3/5ths of the deeds needed for a book, or 3/5ths the gold marks needed for a book.
I’m all for anything that reduces grinding to achieve the same rewards.
Bye Felicia!! It was buggy from day one. When it comes back, it will be monetized like every other thing in this game.
Your 4500 gems are for three pos1 finish guild wars events in the highest bracket that aren’t at all guaranteed and a situation that’ll only affect 30 people. Exszessive. I’d at max talk about a possible 1500 gems for the currently delayed event (also only affecting 30 people) because for “the other two events” (even by going with 1500 gems each there too) you already had plenty chances and time to play for that to balance things out. So I’d not take this into account.
But if we do to answer your question about the drops: Depends on the rng. Best case scenario for around 1500 gems: around 2 evk.
But a highly active player willing to possibly spend hours for five daily matches in competitve guild wars would most likely also invest that time into a vault weekend. If played effectively such a player would have a pretty high output of vault keys and also epic vault keys. Normally even only around 100 vk (not epic vk!) lead to a amount of gems in the thousand(s).
Don’t get me wrong, I know what you’re saying. But you may know that with compensations of 50gems normally someone of that company breaks their both hands. So I found the idea of a epic vault weekend quite funny and to be honest “over the top”.
For once it would be correct to say “that would break the economy” if all of a sudden many level 300 accs would and could just go crazy and farm e1 for most likely way better rewards…
Not everyone sits around treating vault events like an unpaid full time job. Hours per 5 daily GW? GW is 2 hours per month for me for a guarunteed 1000 gem reward, sometimes 1500. Amazingly short when you aren’t playing by committee…
Others can slave over scraps in vault events if they like, but I don’t. In the meantime, guild event required buy-ins are still eating at my savings. That’s why missing GW rewards is a significant hit for me.
I also just played 100 VK to test your theory. It didn’t lead to thousand(s). It didn’t even lead to a single thousand. Unless you meant thousands of wisdom and growth orbs instead of gems. Then yes, it did. That’s part of the reason I don’t spend heavy time grinding vault events… Just enough to keep up with the periodic tarot additions.
Something significant is owed. It could be a mail with 3k gems attached to it for all I care, to keep them out of the hands of low level accounts, as you’ve said. You won’t get anything you don’t ask for/demand, especially from devs that think 2 tributes worth of gems is fair compensation for any manner of screw-up.
Unless you’re in bracket 1, you can’t even get enough gems from GW rewards just to get back those spent maxing Sentinels. My guild is in bracket 2 and each GW is a gem loss. A few months off will save me gems.
I really hope we’ll see some revised rewards, because as it is, GW is the only event that results in an overall loss of resources, even if you win, if you’re not in bracket 1.
I’m not doubting that missing gw rewards are a hit for some players’ gem stash. I simply say, there’s workarounds if the missing gems are problematic, f.e. vault event.
We all know that “compensations” from official side are 0-50gems, never more, so this is something that can be planned with. Going the other extreme and saying “gimme my 1500gems I (maybe) would’ve gotten in a gw week” is equally implausible as how devs treat the whole situation. A fair solution would be to gradually insert the missing gw weeks into future plans - nothing else is “owed”, btw - catch up the missing gw weeks and let the people play for their rewards that they may or may not get. This was the same as roughly 14 months ago when devs “stole” a vault event from us that we at the time never got back, despite other claims from official side.
Don’t forget vk opening is also rng. Sorry to hear that you didn’t run into a lucky opening, at least it was just a small one… I guarantee you from my experience that 100 vk on average normally for me give an income of at least 1k gems back, normally it goes higher than just a measly 1k gems. Gotta know “when” to play and if you run into not that many 6gem drops after 10 vk stop and resume play later. Worx…
They just need to fix wars before letting it go live. They really do not need to make up wars that have been missed. I like wars once a month. Anyone that likes wars in B1 know it’s a commitment if you plan on finishing in the top 2 or 3 in B1. More than once a month is too much IMO.
That is what I think will happen too. Maybe the story will be that Guild Wars was too broken so they made a remake, now calling it Alliance…
Another grind…
I’m of the opinion that old guild wars is not broken; it is simply not being scheduled anymore.
From this:
I interpret that there will be some updates to the format. The question is therefore: ‘best state’ for whom, because all updates now result in gem/cash sinks, and might this also introduce a pay-to-win element to a previously level playing field?
I can c them adding in potion like effects that we can get from high hoard levels and shop tiers during faction assaults to give players an advantage during guild wars.
For the right price that is.
With update 7.x we introduce Guild Wars Daily Headstart Offer:
“Get one additional max points win per day during one Guild Wars event” - just 49.99$
or just a wet dream?
I’ve been suspecting for a long time, that they have an itch to include a cash option to buy attack tokens and point multipliers. “Include freshly introduced mythic of the month for double points” sounds like something, that would fit into the current patterns as well.
Whatever, I’ve been dreading guild wars ever since the introduction of the Elementalist class, so having it not happen for a while has made the game almost enjoyable. I hope, whatever they are cooking up will still take a long, long time.
P.S.: Brief reminder, don’t put too much trust into statements made by Kafka.
(P.P.S.: Yeah, I’m back and stuff. Though my opinion about the thread starter, that earned me my latest ban, has not changed.)
‘Treasured’ is a choice adjective for an event that has literally no reward attached to it. Reward winning guild wars players and guilds with loot! Put up a shop or something. As it is Guild Wars is the most pointelss use of my time playing the game
Then don’t play it. No one is forcing you to play modes you hate. Lots to do in game besides complaining about 1 mode that some folks like.
I don’t love Guild Wars, either. There’s a reason I’m in a GW optional guild. But I’ve been around long enough to know that there’s a whole segment of people for whom it’s their favorite game mode. And some who are still here literally only for Guild Wars. For those people, I don’t think it’s unfair to call it a treasured game mode.
Hey I didn’t say I hate it, I just hope they add rewards when they finally roll it out again. At least PvP stars or something
Sorry, didn’t mean to slam GW lovers! I just thought it was a funny word coincidence that there is no actual ‘treasure’, like rewards
Ah, I see what you were getting at now. I do agree it could use better rewards, for sure.
