I don’t believe that. My home was Khaziel and when defending I received only earth stones. Now I switched to Stormheim and guess what? Only water stones. So who is ‘they’?
So I made a mistake when I said that traitstones in pvp were given out randomly. Sorry that was totally my bad.
I double checked with the team about where color traitstones appear. So as everyone has worked out, the traitstones’ color drop is based on the kingdom you are playing/invading. Defending traitstones will be based on your home kingdom.

Thanks for the update, but there is a problem @Archenassa and I have noticed, as we both play a lot of Arena: the Arena only gives you Brown or Blue Traitstones, as though you were doing a PVP battle in Broken Spire. This doesn’t feel right, and I think it’d be a great improvement if the Traitstones earned in Arena were 100% random. It would fit the spirit of the mini-game better, and also make it more varied for us Arena fans.
The chance of getting a traitstone is around 80% and scales up towards 100% as your difficulty goes up.
As we’re still adjusting the numbers, we aren’t really give more out than that.
It’s something !
Though I’m more interested in the chance to get higher quality traistones on higher difficulties than the chances to get a traistone at all.
Will you let us know through a patch note or through this very post when the numbers are fixed? Thanks !
Well, it’s true that playing the Arena, I only gather Earth and Water traitstones… if I ever care to level up the Templar, that’d be something I guess…
I’d also be interested in @Zelarith’s question, because I tried to grind for hours to get a specific Arcane traitstone, no luck so I gave up. But knowing our chances might make me try again.
I’m awash in Minor and to a lesser extent Major Traitstones. It’s the Runics that are a miserable bear to get. I tried farming for several hours to get some specific colors and had a grand total of one drop. I understand they should be harder to get then major but it seems that the percentage differential is too lopsided. And don’t get me started on the 15 or so different Arcanes
Yes you do. Creatures don’t have Traits on, though (thankfully).
Edit: Just in case, if you mean traitstones as part of the rewards at
the end of your run, then no. But you do win a random traitstone at the
end of every other battle or so, as in PVP.
