3.2 Feedback and Suggestions

How quickly can the UI be reverted back? I have been playing nearly every day since GOW became available on Xbox, and I don’t think I will be able to continue with the UI being such a painful mess.

The legendary/mythic match trait changes have affected too many troops, and not fixed the problem I believe the devs were trying to address. They should be reverted back as well, or give troop refunds to all of them.

I do like the change to guild wars, but I doubt I will be around to play them much if things are not reverted back asap.

Yep, I’m a member of a top 20 guild and have been playing a long time. I waited out most of the BS bugs that made PVP and GW horrible…I absolutely HATE this new UI. I’m putting you on notice, if it’s not fixed or reverted back you can say goodbye to me. Before it was a fantasy card based game and FELT like it, now it feels like an ad agency took control and tried to make it “Cool” and flashy. You took Coke Classic and New Coke’d it all up…genius move!

Looks like all the kingdoms will eventually get an icon makeover. Which isn’t a bad thing

Yeah, Yesterday afternoon when I saw that I was thinking that they must be moving SunCrest away from its original the Mayan motif.

I would like to see a more identifiable border around the troops. They seem to have lost their identity imo.

I think the new filter needs improvement. It’s good to be able to filter troops using several colors, but I regret it’s not possible to select traits or powers in the filter. I tried to use a trait as a keyword but it didn’t work.

The new UI is a step backwards for the player experience. You’ve taken the game from a visually vibrant, light-hearted experience and turned it very dark, depressing and goth. Trying to play has gone from an enjoyment to a chore. Trying to play the game and interpret the mishmash of the data gives me such a headache that after about 5 minutes I have to leave the game.

Going back to the old interface may not be feasible, but if given the option, I would use the older graphics, Make the cards appear as cards once again. Give the match board a solid background (or the option for such). Allow us to choose a default reward screen, to use either the current “machine gun” presentation or go default to a summary screen. Replace the light text on light background/dark text on dark background with combinations that are actually readable.

I have invested a good bit of real money in the game so far (VIP 8), but at this point, I’m not sure I will continue playing, let alone investing.

I like the new UI

All of my individual complaints have already been covered, so I won’t add repetition, but this change is wholesale just awful.

I like the new “Stealthy doesn’t do anything” feature, I’m winning a lot more games.

I don’t completely hate the new UI. It just doesn’t fit with the whole fantasy theme of the game at all.

I am sure if I read through this posting and others on the forums I would find that I am repeating things that may have already been addressed, but I would like to add my thoughts.

I play a lot of games. I also tend to be a very loyal person to games I love. Some I have played for 3-10+ years. I’ve worked behind the scenes of some games with game masters and programmers, I won’t go into which ones at the moment as it isn’t relevant. I don’t consider myself a sky is falling dramatic person and I don’t get into the drama surrounding players or patches in general. I am more than willing to live with some weekly reset bugs that we are often seeing, I am willing to accept loading problems and bugs after big patches, despite how annoying they might be. However, immersion is an important part of a game, and therefore its UI and interface are the first face the world sees and the one you spend your daily time with. This makes it one of the two most important aspects of any game. The second of course being game play mechanics. (We won’t go into how the krakens have eaten gameplay. I think thats obvious.)

The reason I chose this game and became addicted to it, was the similarity to puzzle quest and that it was being billed as a game with knights, kingdoms, dragons, gold, traitstones, souls, and the overall feeling that those things in combination create. The thing that keeps me coming back is that not only do I like match 3 games, but I have a soft spot for collecting things in game. The fact that this game is at its heart, a card collection game is amazing.

The new UI feels as if it has turned its back on what the game is about. The cards I used to collect in my troops page are no longer cards. It looks as if I am opening a file folder full of internet images with a cheap color bar on top to mimic fancy, but fails to achieve it. The wording on the bottom is unreadable on mobile and very hard to see on pc. Before you had several layers of scroll work, artwork that was specific to the rarity in the border, and layers of graphic making each card FEEL like a card. I have NO problem with the UI being updated if it is done with as much care as the original artwork was created with. Another example is the kingdoms on the main map. Instead of their name in a beautiful bar at the bottom that not only had detail graphically, but information about the level of the star experiences you were working towards is a huge upgrade from the new mono tone, colorless shield with wings that is too small to really tell how many stars are in there. I liked to get into the game once or twice a week and eyeball the map to see which of those little bars was closest to leveling at ta glance and then search that kingdom to see about upgrades I can do. This is no more.

Overwhelmingly the people I play with do not like the look, but I feel as if that really doesn’t matter. The Devs have stepped back from game chat and back from the discord server because they ultimately know that they aren’t able to tell us it will get fixed. I feel as if the hope is, that if they step back and stay quiet, most of us will eventually wear ourselves out talking about it until we “acclimate”. Unfortunately we stand to lose quite a few members of our guild, and perhaps myself included if the trend continues.

I have invested quite a bit of time and money, the money I believe in doing because any game where you strongly love it and the direction the game is moving, you should make a few purchases on occasion to support the developer. I can’t in good conscience buy anything at the moment because I don’t support this direction. As an optimistic realist, I would like to think this is a bare wipe to move forward, but we need some signs of good faith of better graphics to feel as if that is true.

Thanks for taking the time to read my mild rant.

Happy gaming

Im sure it already was said but its not possible for me to enjoy and play long time when I see the battle board and 64 gems with a picture behind! That cause fatigue to the eyes. The battle board must be solid like it was before! How is that even possible to not understand that and release this horror??

Why 3 Xs? If the enemy is stunned then they are totally stunned not just 1 or 2 traits. Doesn’t look very clean like that.

I hope the game still has the same developers. If it does, though, how could people responsible for all the awesome patches think this was a good idea?

Please go through the game with a UI/UX specialist. The game always had a lot of clicking but it’s been adding up and that’s worrying. In no order, tributes, glory rewards, chest opening, battle rewards could all use less clicks and take less time to watch/skip so I can get to the next game faster.

Something I haven’t seen mentioned - weapons list was the (only) place where sort by rarity filter was useful. No wading through the leveling weapons to get to the useful ones. I’ll miss that.

Shimmra’s writeup on 3.2 Patch Notes is great. I momentarily thought of sending some money his way but then thought better of it. Still. Likes and prayers.

Everything @Sheba said in their post and especially THIS!!!

You cannot fix the new UI, it’s unreadable, it’s ugly, it doesn’t suit the fantasy theme, and IT HURTS MY EYES SO MUCH IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY.

I play gems since 2 years now. I enjoyed it a lot, I can even say it was my refuge. Now when the game is loaded, my refuge is when I enter the chest or hero menus that still look beautiful so my eyes can find peace.
My guild leading job makes it difficult for me to leave this game, I have now good friends in the guild.
To add some more features like having all rewards displayed after a battle is nice, but there was no need to sabotage the Ui for adding all these new features.
I still hope its only a nightmare and everything will be back like before the update.

No its not, People were abusing it and every defense team had kraken,it was annoying. This new way of gem spawning is much like Artema’s 3rd trait where it’s 40% to dodge skull damage so if you skull spam her and the trait triggers, all the skulls miss,it makes for one instance of damage instead of more then it’s worth. Troops who were slightly affected by this are still good, just more balanced with the rest of the game.

Tried playing it again but it just makes me feel sick. I have no clue what the stats are when in battle and it’s difficult to spot when a character is powered up. Even though i’m the guild leader I’ve given up on GW and switched the game off, it just isn’t visually appealing or fun in this state.

No more shiny pennies from me until this mess is sorted out. Just put the old, beautifully designed UI back.
