Interesting. But when you said math I thought it’d be about chest drop rates. Sad face.
Is this a sign that level cap is going to be lifted?
Your plot is very suggestive
It stops at 150 and with high level/maxed kingdoms/high level guild you can easily exceed this value. And after that the gap between old and new system is increasing rapidly.
Edit: Quickly made this plot with extended mastery range. You hardly get over 60% with the new system.
Not sure I like the Mana Surge nerf. Your reasoning tailors too much toward general conformity, and ends up ignoring the feelings of the long-time loyal players.
It almost comes off like: Sorry, you’re too high level because you’ve been playing too long. And I need to nerf your level advantage because over 90% of our player base is no where near the level range you are at.
I think it is the standard design of any games that Higher Level Players Will Naturally Have Larger Advantage toward Lower Level Players. Due to the Card system the way it is, once a player has a lineup of all max 15 level and a strong team bonus, he or she can already face up against opponents from several hundred levels up.
You can argue that the Kingdom Bonus is where the old players can hold their advantage. But seriously, any new players willing to dish out the credit card can easily attain the same Kingdom bonus. Player Levels, on the other way, is the only indication of dedication. It’s the only attribute where you can’t just throw cash at it and have it ready made instantly.
I understand that this is probably a way to address the recent PvP balance issue? But I think you’re going the wrong direction at this. Instead of punishing the old players, you should figure out a better way of matching random Levels players together.
I’m kind of ambivalent about this really except for one thing: games are looking like they will be taking longer to complete. I hesitate to speculate about how much longer but in my opinion that’s a bad thing since this game is all about grinding, and making the grind take LONGER scares me.
I actually think 1.0.8 will extend the gap between high & low-level players overall if anything, because of the additions to troop upgrading. I don’t really think you can look at one change in isolation (mana surge chances) and call us out on an overall nerf.
Well from what we already know, there’ll be ascended troops and lvl20 troops. Upgrading from 15 to 20 cost Bul’Tauros, an epic, 3100 souls - so its about the same as 1->15 is. So overall twice as much. Ascended epics and legendaries will only be found on people who have played forever or dumped a truckload of money or both.
I guess what is worrying is that people can potentially come up to the same power level as a dedicated player through money. And the masteries were our ‘last line of defense’ so to speak.
Still, will have to see the patch at work first.
I don’t think this is too much to worry about. The amount of cash needed to get to the resource accumulation of a dedicated player is ridiculously high. Anyone willing to spend 100s upon 100s to support the game probably deserves to be at similar standing of a dedicated player.
You also forget that higher leveled players have the advantage of Hero stats. Something that could always occur to balance out the mastery nerf is to give higher leveled players more hero stats or a way to diversify their hero stats from the static upgrading. With all of the upgrading with troops, hero will eventually fall out of relevancy anyways. Hero already doesn’t count for any form of faction or kingdom bonus.
besides all that, the game NEEDS people willing to spend hundreds and hundreds. More money means more development. From the way this dev team seems to want this game to go, I highly doubt it will ever become p2w. There is a reason I’m still playing this dang game lol.

I could swear that one of the devs mentioned recently that they have plans to rectify the “lame hero” thing in later updates, although I can’t seem to find it right now.
In the meantime, I agree. Right now at least the hero has the upside of flexibility, in that he can fill a lot of different roles by using different weapons. I even have a team wherein I sometimes swap the hero’s weapon between three different ones depending on the situation.
But yes, once troops can be upgraded, the hero will, sadly, fall behind I think.
We did consider giving Heroes a quick buff in 1.0.8, but we decided to delay it to 1.0.9 so we can implement a better system for Heroes.
Hooray! I’m not crazy!
…well, maybe I am, but that’s not the point. My memory didn’t fail me, at any rate. I look forward to seeing what goodies the hero will get. If we can’t get customizable troops, maybe we’ll get customizable heroes… :dreams:
A redistribution of stats on hero so we can have 1 HP, 0 Attack, 0 Armor, and around 30 Magic. Balanced.
I do look forward to see what kind of changes await in 1.0.9 for hero.
The biggest glass cannon there ever was…
I am kind of curious if they will make a system like that. They already partially did for troops.
Just give hero a specific amount of points to distribute in which HP = 1, Armor = 1, Attack = 2, and Magic = 4. The only main problem with that is HP > Armor, which is why Zaejin’s +10 HP is ridiculously annoying.
I would actually prefer something closer to what the troops are getting rather than straight up stat points. We already get those, even if it would be nice to have a few more. I think it would be much more interesting to be able to unlock perks or passive abilities.
I too would like that. Hero could have the capability of having any minor ability in the game, any medium ability, and any upper ability. Multiple could be bought and switched out, but no more than one from each category could be used at any given time.
Let’s not forget also gaining banner city add their city type!
what if we could combine weapons to forge new weapons that are more powerful?
What if weapons had one or two passive abilities such as will be available for troops in 1.08? They could be unlockable with trait stones or other in-game resource. It might make some of the older weapons more relevant again and more fun to use.
