What's Next for GoW?

Same base model, left one has a jacket but her spine is still as bent as the other two.

Same for me. I would rather see the Devs invest their time and resources in gameplay advances than in cosmetic ‘improvements’…

Plenty of game advances to be had, none of which directly make the devs any money. Game advances will continue to come. I’d like to see them spend a little time updating the market and making better things to buy. I want to fully support the devs with real money. Sometimes it almost “angers” me that there’s really nothing good to buy. Of course this is only my opinion, but I don’t see/hear a lot of instances of people spending money on this game. All you hear is yeah get the Deathknight armor, and gem packs. There’s gotta be more things than that. With the recent Vip level upgrade as well, I don’t want to blindly spend money on things I don’t need just to spend it. So in short, I support almost all possible inroads that lead to them making money. Not P2W, but still make money. Give us some cool stuff to buy

This is all about cash shop items in multiplayer games, singleplayer games have very different cash shop economies.

Cosmetic upgrades are generally considered one of the better long-term cash shop items. Whereas P2W items can generate significantly more revenue in the short term, they also tend to burn through the player base at a much higher rate, causing cosmetic upgrades to typically generate more money over the life-cycle of a game.

Also, cosmetic upgrades generally have a very art-heavy workload, while game improvements have a more programming/design-heavy workload. This allows the studio to have the programmers and designers work on improving gameplay while the artists are directly keeping the lights on.

I’ve paid for cosmetics in other games. Would probably do so for GoW too. I think it’s a good idea.

Love the new changes!

Yeah I saw that post, not a bad idea!

I agree with everything you said. The store is filled with useless junk but adding cosmetic items doesnt change that in the slightest

@Sirrian Any chance we will be able to change the skin color of human avatars (or fur color of non-humans) in a future update of the game? I would be so happy, and would actually start using the human avatar if this option was added.

We’re currently investigating that

That’s wonderful news! Thank you. :smile_cat:

I misread this, so badly. The mix and match sounds wonderful. Also is she flat chested?

Always kills me when all kinds of people are like, “Give us cosmetics! Something we’ll actually spend money on!” then a bunch of people respond, “Why you wasting time on cosmetics?!”

At any rate, I know a lot of people have been requesting cosmetics for a long time. Time for people to put their money where their mouth is!

True. Pretty much the same with everything though. Last thing I noticed was the seals; after the preview some felt too many were required and now everyone is complaining it is too easy. Cant win!

I dont mind if they release cosmetics… just wont be buying them myself

Ironically, before the PvP update, you’d see the face of the hero you were fighting against in the matchup screen. That seems like the place people would want to express themselves with cosmetics. At this point, the “face” of your opponent is a randomly-selected troop in their defense lineup. I wonder if that’ll change when they introduce cosmetics?

Also, your guild roster used to show your race/gender in the pics, but now that it’s a vertical list, that flavor is gone.

If nothing changes in the UI, you’d basically be buying/earning/choosing cosmetics for yourself only.

I’m not opposed to cosmetic changes that can or cannot cost some money. It’s up to the client if they will make a purchase or not as long as there is the option to do it so. If there is no option then there is zero market.
I believe it doesn’t hurt the schedule of some releases if the art departament starts making new avatars, it’s more like they are ahead on the schedule since drawing takes, usually, less time than creating and testing codes for new features. So people could rest assured that in this case time is not being wasted at all. Right @Sirrian?

That’s a great point! They definitely need to make more ways for the “bragging rights” that would come with exclusive cosmetics. Looking in the mirror only goes so far.
