I’m level 350, I handle Gorgotha just fine, I just experimented using my skull spam team cause I thought it can get there,

Seggra (1)
Mercy (3)
Star Gazer (3)

For Gorgotha I usually use a Green Spider loop with Boar Rider in back and Hero with Mang using a fully traited archer

I do have Maw fully traited too but since I am not one with the bag, I never have the combo on defend (actually I never invade with it either lol)

@Cell I’m not sure what you’re doing wrong, I face Gorgotha all the time with my skull spam team, and I always win, usually quite fast. Maybe you were just unlucky that one time?

I refuse to put Maw in Def. I currently have a lot of Def wins. Maybe because folks don’t use boring Maw teams against me.

This Gorgotha team also had 2 Queen Mab’s
Dropping the turn with 6+ 4+of a kind skull matches on the board, I don’t recommend it

Oh, that one. I did fight (and win) against it once, but it’s indeed more prone to an unlucky end.

I don’t even HAVE Maw yet (level 260, newer player) and my PVP percentage is hovering around 90% (and was before the 2.0 update too).

I hunted down the same enemy on the leaderboards to obtain some “peice of mind”
I did end up beating him and the only rewards I got the 2nd time around was about 70 gold and a map
I used the loop team the 2nd time

A special mention for an enemy I invaded the other day, who boasted Psion and Mab together on defence… Wins this month’s gibbering fool award…

That was probable nex, i think i remember him saying he wanted to do that. However not sure if he is strictly console though.

Hello all… So I updated my graphs for today’s 50 pvp draws so far… and added some columns to track IK, Mab and Gorgotha too…

Verdict is:

  • two trophy matches were far more varied, with a big rise in Goblins… (not that I did any of the two trophy matches)
  • Mercy still dominates the three trophy matches - 58% of teams offered
  • slight decline in Maws, but still a third of battles were the Maw/Mercy trollcombo
  • New entry Queen Mab in at 22% of three trophy teams (often with Mercy and Valkyrie)
  • Gorgotha and IK are popular as ever
  • so evolving the picture a bit… at least the M&M trollcombo wasn’t ubiquitous today

In case anyone is interested, I lost just one of those 50 three trophy invades… against @eika’s M&M trollteam, when Mercy and RNG charged the Maw on the second turn and some 15% hungering soon followed…

The charts show the incidence of specific troops or team designs, but not actual unique teams.

I.e. Maw/Mercy/IK/Sheggra, and Maw/Maw/IK/Mercy, and Maw/IK/Alchemist/Mercy, would all get treated the same, with a score for:

  • Maw
  • Mercy
  • M&M
  • IK
    …you’ll notice the points add up to much more than 100% - this isn’t a distribution of enemy actual teams, but the frequency of meta troops appearing before me.

From left to right, the bars show:

  • Dragons - 3 or more Dragon troops, usually this is Venoxia/Celestasia/Sheggra/BoneDragon in some order, sometimes Borealis… if there are 3 Dragons, there is often a Gorgotha on the front
  • Goblins - 3 or more Zaejin troops, usually 4 from Goblin/Hobgoblin/BoarRider/GobShaman/Rocket, occasionally a GoblinKing… occasionally see 3 Goblins plus Gorgotha or Webspinner
  • Gorgotha - how many teams have a Gorgotha in, usually on the front
  • QueenMab - how many teams have a QueenMab in, often in pairs, always with a Valkyrie
  • TrueDamage - a true damage theme team using 2-3 of CrimsonBat/Psion/Crescendo/Marilith/Venoxia, normally has a Gorgotha on the front
  • IK - how many teams have an Infernal King, usually appears with Mercy, often with Sheggra
  • Maw - troll Great Maws, usually on the front, often with IK or BoneDragon
  • Mercy - how many teams feature the ubiquitious empowered yellow maker - usually used to fuel Maw or IK or both
  • M&M - the Maw/Mercy trollcombo that can beat you with pure rng now and then, whatever your team and skill level is - the most comm

And that seems to me to be our current meta…

Other commonly seen troops that I am not tracking here (less common to me, at least):

  • BoneDragon
  • RockWorms (more common on one trophy fights)
  • Alchemist / GiantSpider / Valkyrie as support troops

If anyone is seeing proliferation of something I haven’t listed please do comment.

I’m actually seeing a lot of Knight Coronet around, mostly in combo with Mercy and/or Valkyrie and something else. The teams vary a fair amount, I’m not seeing much consistency besides KC himself and either Valk or Mercy. But they’re around. (At least at the ~300 level range)

I’ve seen more Jarls this week too, especially paired with Mab. They make a nice ice and fire combo on four gem matches.

I personally switched from dragons to Mercy/Maw as a kneejerk reaction to huge defense point losses earlier in the week. But I’ve been experimenting with some other teams since then.

With -20 points every few minutes, I wasn’t willing to take any chances. But -5 points every 10 minutes makes the risk of changing up my defense a little more acceptable.

for level 115 player:

  • lots of goblins (boarrider, gob-sham, hobgoblin, rocket, some nobends aswell)
  • lots of untraited or one-trait IK, jarl, cb, venoxia, gloom leaf
  • almost no gorgotha, webspinner
  • lots of fully traited knight teams: coronet, wolf, lance, griffon, templar
  • lots of support in the form of giant spider, green seer, valk, dryad
  • lots of golem/deep borer, rockwormx2, acolyte
  • suprisingly some teams with dust devil who take out the front tank instantly
  • lots of teams with rowanne, grave knight, revenant, skeleton, druid, marilith, siren, chimera

Hi all… I have updated graphs for today’s PVP games… here are my rather depressing results…

(as usual, this is from 50 matches/draws, being 100 teams offered for battle for me… I always take the three trophy battles, mind…)

  • Queen Mab has soared into appearing in 48% of 3 trophy games offered
  • Gorgotha has also shot up in popularity, usually on the front of the Mab teams
  • Maw is in at 34%, and the same for Maw & Mercy together, so a third of my battles are a coin toss
  • As expected Mercy is still everywhere, either in Maw teams, or with Mab and Valkyrie

So oddly, progress is easier, as Mab may be over-powered but the AI cannot combo her well, so she’s easy enough to beat… and fewer Maw teams means fewer 15% sudden death matches…

…that said, I am struggling to find the motivation to fight many more Mabs and Maws tonight…
