Update 2.0.1 Preview

So Devour Buffs the troop that it’s eating (the impervious one?) I fail to see how that should affect my own buff.

Add Mana Burn is a debuff? Let’s see… do they lose any mana? No, that’s Drain… they take damage based on their own mana and my magic, but if doing damage is considered a debuff now then I guess Impervious should negate all damage from everyone. I mean, Goblins do damage and get an extra turn. Must be the same right?

I’d say something else, but instead I’ll stick with “Marid. Tyri’s Brother. That is all.”

hear, hear!

I can’t believe the volume of irrelevant argument over simple definitions…

“Incapacitation” is the same thing as “death” in your scenario, and not like (say) Silence or Stun or Entangled. It’s not a meaningful application of the term “status effect” in this game.

…Great, now I’m not even following my own advice.

But they are not. The first line of your wiki article clearly reads: “a status effect is a temporary modification”, and everything after is following that base principle. Devour’s stat gain will not go away by itself after a time, Mana Drain’s dealt damage will not heal back by a Cleanse. These are one-time changes to stats, nothing more.

I’m pretty sure she didn’t.

If you expand the definition of a word to the point where it could mean anything, the word becomes meaningless and useless. That’s what you’re doing here and that’s why it’s bad.

Well, if the devs would bother explaining how it makes thematic sense (rather than “we stuck it there as a counter to mab/maw”), then maybe the supporters of this change will not feel the urge to come up with all these twisted explanations why it is a status effect after all.

Yay finally recognition for being ‘that guy’!

I’d like to thank my mum, agent, uncle buck…

in my mind everything in the game could be considered a "status effect"skulls do dmg to the enemy affecting the "status’of its health but obviously they cant make a troop completely unkillable xD

It buffs the user of the spell, it incapacitates the target. Also it buffs the board with mana. [quote=“yonizaf, post:164, topic:9427”]

Yes but temporary means non permanent so after the match is over the effect ends. Some games offer permanent status effects which persist for an entire level and act as modifications to the game’s native difficulty. In this case level can pertain to a fight so incapacitating or killing an enemy through a spell and then gaining a benefit for it.

Status effects may result from one character performing a certain type of attack on another, an example of an instant status effect if you needed one. Basicly charm is a status effect even though it lasts a second.

Thanks for clarifying Nimhain. Being counted as Wildfolk makes Wildfang a really nasty, hateful fellow. Able and willing to easily kill even his own kin, and being an Epic troop, probably makes him the leader… How can someone not love this?
His power could be changed to target a troop dealing double damage to Wildfolks and triple damage to centaurs in order to reflect a personal hate for the race of his parent’s killer. (Also, in an alternate universe he could be “Batgnoll”!)

But but…more importantly with this change If I equip an impervious troop on my defence team will it make me immune to the Flashy PvP Button of Doom?

So gob chomper trait marauder slayer will be goblin slayer? And what about its skill? Will it devour goblins and still double damage to monsters?

Super excited about what my kingdom of zhul’kari will become.

Maw will still be good on defence - as it will force the Invader to either use an impervious/indigestible troop(s) or other wise will still run the risk of being devoured. Either by skull matching or the spell.

The big change is a defence team of impervious will make players change from using maw and mab on invade.

So I think we will still see maw on defence as much as now. As the invader needs to counter.

This defence team might work:
Maw
Golem
Carnex
Plague

You could probably whittle down Maw teams with a Golem followed by any three Goblins.

Maw, and even Mab, will still be on defenses, but it’ll be less than 20% compared to the current 70%+

Yes it would be interesting to see if using that team if the defence maw spell got charged would it still attempt to target the golem? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Tyri can’t b targeted by maw’s spell but now i wish she could not be eaten by his trait. Also isn’t this update also a buff to adana as well?

@Sirrian

Since the 3rd Trait and what the Serpentine Dagger does would be the juicy details, may we know what Troop Type Assassin will be?

Here is hoping elf class.

Archer is Elf you fool :stuck_out_tongue:
