Tower of Doom map, resurrected

I created what I hope is a clone-with-improvements of Taran’s Tower of Doom map on my own website.

Try it out, tell me what needs fixing or changing before we have Tower of Doom running.

Improvements:

  • Spaces are allowed in map names. Unimportant, but there it is.
  • Sticky column headers, so you can always see which column is which room. Also not super important.
  • After you make a change, your map will update with any changes others have made. This is the important thing.
  • Narrow “tower floor” view, as requested below by Shzzu.

Things that have not changed vs. Taran’s:

  • There is still no security on maps. Anyone anywhere who types in a particular map name sees that map.
  • Map names must be identical. If you enter map name “Awesome Guild” (with a space) and one guildmate enters “AwesomeGuild” (no space) and another guildmate enters “Aewsome Guild” (typo), the three of you will see three different maps.

Great work!

great work! thank you

Amazing thanks so much

Thanks for this. Still wish they’d improve the event, but this is great until they do. =]

Thank you so much.
Great job.

Thank you very much!!
Does your site have options for dark skin?

Not yet. Mostly because I wanted to have it fully functional before I get into aesthetics, but also because I put the usual dark-mode color scheme in effect and thought it looked weird vs. the colors of the scroll types. I’ll work on that now…

A web mage you are!
Please add a shorter ‘Tower floor’ view for smartphone readers

May I ask - why bother mentioning Doom room reward scroll? Those are to be collected anyway.
Also - do we need validity check, like two Luck scrolls on the same floor, for example

Doom reward scroll recording is great when you’re planning at the end. If there’s a haste in there it can change how you allocate heroism and fireball scrolls

Ooh, this is a good idea. Implementation will be nontrivial though. I’ll work on it but no promises for a timeframe.

Also - do we need validity check

No. This page is to facilitate communication among the members of a guild. If those guild members enter bad information I have no way to make sense of that. Even the most obvious error of two unlock scrolls on one floor—how could the page know which, if either, is correct?

My reasoning was just “Because Taran’s map had it”, but this is good, too.

Thank you very much!

Light vs. dark theme is live. By default it uses your system settings, but you can override that by clicking the moon at bottom-left.

You may need to Shift+Reload (i.e. hold down Shift while clicking your browser’s “Reload” / “Refresh” button) to pick up all the changes.

I think you did a really good job on this @sidbushes thank you for the time you spent developing this from Taran and the improvements you’ve made.

“Tower floor” view is live, too.

Making it switch based on what kind of screen you have is hard. Giving the option to switch between wide and narrow views is far easier, so I did that instead. Again, you may need to Shift+Reload to pick up all the changes.

In discord, 2 new tools were built this week and more to come, i suggest you join and keep an eye for updates.

The tools:

  • tower of doom map: https://doom.org31415.dev/ - Tower of Doom Map tool. Very similar to the previous one, with small updates: real time collaboration and warning when 2 users are editing, view map as text configurable, checkpoints.
  • Released & Upcoming Troop Tracker: This spreadsheet does a bare-bones version of what Taran’s site did to show released and upcoming/spoiler troops including planned release date, spell and trait descriptions, and more. There’s a changelog showing the most recent updates. This sheet updated automatically every day.

I copy/pasted the last messages from there.

A reminder that Taran’s web version was based on my Google Sheets version, which you can still find here:
Starlite’s Tower of Doom Spreadsheet

No need to ask for permissions: ‘File | Make a Copy’ will get you your own copy to tinker with.

I’ve seen a handful of additional features, but aside from archiving old towers, the most likely changes you may want to make are to the Conditional Formatting for different Scrolls.

That said, I know most people will find the web version more convenient, so well done!

Thank you so very much. I know more than a few of us have vision issues that freak in the bright light. The work you have done already is spectacular, especially in such a short a time.

Precisely. I squeeze everything I can out of my scrolls. Listing them is critical in endgame.
