Want a little help on your dungeon run? Can’t decide which room to open next? This gives you a random order for the rooms. I created it months ago for my own use, but maybe others will want to use it too?
I added some notes to the entry page in response to what I see people doing, and accidentally broke the page in the process. A bad side effect of doing it from work.
“Shorthand view” is live! You may need to Shift+Reload the page to pick up all the changes.
I’d had bigger plans to show multiple styles of shorthand, but RL has been getting in the way this week (my father back in the hospital, again), so I scaled it back and it shows only the style that Taransworld used.
With the possible addition of including Doom rooms. I never used the shorthand view on Taransworld so I don’t know if it included the Doom rooms’ rewards or not.
After level 150?!? How many mountains of Gems does it cost to get enough sigils for that? Does the Tower have a maximum level?
At the moment there are seven maps on my site that go up to 150. Which is about five more than I’d’ve guessed, but still a very small portion of the 175 active maps total.
Doom rooms rewards is not important
Well, redtoadstool and dwshasta disagree with that, above.
I will address both those things. There are other changes I plan to make, too, after Tower week ends tonight. Then I know I won’t be breaking any guild activity if I accidentally screw something up.
I saw a lot of maps that went unused, the clear result of typos and misspellings. Like if you wanted the map “Awesome Guild” and you mistyped it as “Aewsome Guild”, you got an empty map named “Aewsome Guild”. You probably didn’t notice the typo but you definitely noticed that the room-data your guild said was there, wasn’t there. This is bad UX.
So now the page asks for confirmation before creating a new map. This gives the user a chance to say Whaddya mean there’s no map named— oh I spelled it wrong.
Also, spaces don’t count when looking for maps. “Awesome Guild” and “awesomeguild” will get you the same map. Whoever creates a map sets the official capitalization and spacing that everybody will see when accessing that map later.
Other changes:
Maps will go to floor 500, and automatically add more floors when you get close to the current limit. (I cannot imagine spending that many Gems and that much time on it, but you do you.)
Shorthand view has a checkbox to include Doom-room rewards or not.
The shorthand-view text is broken up into lines for easy copy-and-paste into guild chat. If your browser supports it there’s a clipboard icon next to each line; click/tap that icon to copy the corresponding line to your system clipboard.
Actual tower-floor view, what I initially thought of when I read Shzzu’s use of “ ‘tower floor’ view”. It’s probably not super useful, but it amuses me.
